The staff went about with the waiver and payment but no rules provided. There are signs posted on walls of no outside food and drinks. But on the floor, it's obvious customers brought their flasks. Rule #1, no shoes on the floor, even if you're sitting at the tables as an unpaid adult. Shoes can be worn to the bathroom though. Rule #2, bring yourself a pair of socks if going in with sandals- just in case you get told. There are signs posted saying "Socks Only Area". Rule #3, don't bring outside food. We took our Carl's Jr. drinks in with no problem.

They also had animatronic dragons that were really impressive, with sounds that made them feel even more lifelike. Ice skating and carnival rides were available as well, though those were an additional cost. Overall, it was a really fun and festive outing!

We've been to extravagant light shows, like Luminaria Lights at the Botanical Gardens in Southern Cali, so that was our comparison and we honestly weren't expecting much with Imaginarium. Really happy that we decided to give this a shot! It was held at the Cal Expo so parking is extremely generous. However, we went on a Thursday evening in early December to avoid the crowds and I, for one, absolutely appreciated not having any lines or difficulty going in and out of the parking lot. Hardly anyone was there on a Thursday evening on the first week of December but I can imagine it would've been annoyingly packed if we went during rush season closer to Christmas or weekends. Pretty hilarious how we initially thought the front entrance exhibits and cute little photoshoot setups were it, until we walked past some food vendors to be shocked and awed at the enormous amount of creative setups they had in the main staging area. There was even a little circus act for some entertainment! Enjoy your time with family, walk around to your leisure, and they even had lots of neat room setups to experience. The kids enjoyed the art exhibit the most where they could color in beautifully drawn artistry with chalk! Santa was available for photos towards the exit.m at no charge. Nice! Tipped him, of course, to care for his elves and reindeer. Biggest tip is to be aware of where the restrooms are in case any urgencies arise. We found them to be to the right of the main area once we passed the food vendors thanks to friendly staff and security personnel. Highly recommended for everyone around the Sacramento and Roseville area, near and far! Great for families, dates, solos, and friends. Security is tight since it's Cal Expo so it felt rather safe for our family. Lovely organized event and enjoyed a magical evening surrounded be a wonderment of lights and glamor! The views are of the park, adjacent street, back of the zoo fencing, & a parking lot. You can enjoy areas of nature in the park. The ride is smooth & uneventful. You don't pass by anything specific to a train experience or go under or through anything. There is a loose, thin cloth that covers the wooden seat. Although there's signage that the conductor can assist with boarding if needed, I imagine accessibility issues for some. To get into the seats in the section we found available required having to climb over the edge into the car, which had no door. I'm petite & it wasn't the easiest with my legs. However, in other posted photos, it seems a few seats in the front of the train have cutouts to walk into to make boarding easier. It's a cute experience for little ones to enjoy.

The second visit was way more enjoyable and we decided to visit due to the addition of a reptile exhibit that included hands on experiences with snakes, lizards, and more! The exhibit was not as packed when we arrived this time, so my kids got to play in the water room much longer and then do the Dino coloring for a bit before they setup the show. Many kids arrived at the show time, but there was plenty of room and the hosts were awesome. Would still go without the show, knowing it's a quick trip through - would go again for the reptile exhibit!

We saw bears, roaming peacocks, a coyote, zebu, raccoons, macaques, bobcats, many kinds of birds, donkey, horses, & more. Getting a good look at some of the animals was hit or miss. Signage gives information & facts about the animals, stories of how they came to the Sanctuary, & their names. A small gift shop is onsite with a variety of items. The staff we interacted with were friendly & helpful.

Sad to say...that's not the case :o( The most pressing issue: the animals are definitely not treated well and are depressed, and it's really, really heartbreaking to see. We came as we thought things had turned around under new management and staff. There was a poor porcupine that was desperately digging to get out of there the entire time we were there... most animals have very little space to even move. Several animals were fighting with each other...probably frustration and survival mode. Next, this place is filthy, truly. As soon as you walk in, there is a terrible smell (more so than other Aquariums). The place is dirty and unkept. I saw several cobwebs around places that should be cared for daily. The bathrooms were disgusting. There are no signs posted for feedings or special events...so you are left hanging and walking around aimlessly. My kids fed parakeets which they of course liked at their ages. Aside from an interaction with that one employee (who was nice), there was oddly NO other staff walking around monitoring any of the animals or the areas (children feeding the sharks and fish, etc), and this all just seems like a lawsuit waiting to happen. No safety, no watching eyes, nothing. There is a machine where you put a coin to get packs of foods to feed animals. Each is marked with a color sticker that is supposed to correspond to an animal. There is no monitoring which kids are feeding what foods to which animals. I was pretty shocked to see the state of the animals, the extreme lack of staff walking around...the dirty conditions, etc. WHY even keep this place open after the SeaQuest sadness unless a change was going to happen? Set these poor, sad animals free. No, we will of course not be returning to this place. Trying to do research on how to help put this treatment of animals to an end.

My three year-old grandson had a fabulous time and so did his tired grandparents. The three pigs from New Zealand were adorable and their caretaker was welcoming to the children. There was plenty of parking, but that was not apparent when we got there. You have to keep going through the parking lot to see where it opens up after the bottle neck. Take your own picnic lunch and plenty of wet wipes.

Another plus is that the park is gated from the big streets.
