so glad we listened to all the great yelp reviews and connected with kevin. my husband and i…read morerecently moved into our house where the carpet reeked of cat urine and the smell would not go away no matter how many times we had professional cleaning done. so we decided to get rid of the carpet and install new ones. kevin came by with multiple samples and explained the pros/cons of each material. we got a reasonable quote and decided to move forward. the style we ended up choosing went out of stock but the one he recommended in lieu of it was even better! our installation was scheduled for two weeks later. my only qualm was that on the day of, we were expecting it to start in the morning but they didn't arrive until between noon and 1. it seemed their last job took longer than expected. they ended up finishing a little before 4. so roughly 3 hours to uninstall/install for 600 sq ft of carpet. kevin typically stops by for a follow-up, which we had to schedule and he said all looked good. and the best part is that the cat urine smell is gone!

The entire month of July, I have been trying to work with the service team to get repairs made to my roof due to all the storms that have happened in the Chicago area. They came out and did an emergency typing for me no problems however I was told that I would have a handheld service to help me navigate the claims process with my insurance company. That was a lie. I have now been calling Nomback Homes the entire month of July and gotten no assistance. I have left multiple messages and gotten no follow up phone call. At this point, I would not recommend anyone doing any business with Nomback Homes since customer follow up does not seem to be a priority.

In the end 'looked good' but after inspection clear issues with 'directional flow' entering room/space (horizontal -vs vertical),,  What's worse we learned engineered wood (unlike laminate) comes in variations some look good natural  - but others [dark knotted sections in Trees appear like [ stains- dog poo- bear-like claws! ] So we decided Not hire them back, we posted to Floor repair comp on Yelp,  and Shims Remodeling replied too.  Andre stopped by immediately noticed issues "flow- got aesthetic issues (could've placed rotten boards in closets, hidden areas etc)- patterns etc;  basically things we questioned Thumbtack Installers, but told "You guys being picky" to later admit errors when wanted more work.  Yet Shim's who's stated is licensed- member of national Association- annual trainings, explains (will school you ha-ha) pros- cons, saw & understood the concerns Anyhoo last Saturday he arrived, carefully removed 2 boards (skill). when done texted photos of really good Job almost can't tell what was done. . as amazing Andre said he'd do free sample, we didn't think so, but he did & locked up as requested. After this experience & alot money spent on this project, gesture was awesome. Well sometime around then, some industrious craftsmen were sawing down oak trees, cutting them into planks and laying down the wood into my floor. So some 47,450 days later (that would be 68,320,000 minutes of steps, weather changes, barometric pressure dips, moving furniture, pets scratching etc, mopping, waxing, insects, new owners, joy, tears and changing seasons), the oak changed into patches of pine and polyurethane stains and here we are. We called in Vintage Flooring to remedy the planks that were cracked, where former patching jobs were failing, and to address the aging yellow stain. They came out quickly, presented us with a quote to replace planks and to replace the entire floor. We selected to replace the damaged section only. They started work but informed us that the floor was too damaged and the entire floor needed to be replaced. Entire process from start to finish was 4 days. Floor looks gorgeous. Minor deductions: change from sections of floor to entire floor (although they cautioned us) shoebase will have to be redone and I found a Budweiser can (empty) outside the room. Nicest floor in the house now. Spoiler alert: more work to come!
