Quick, what were you doing 130 years ago? Even the nonagenarians I know weren't even a glimmer in someone's eye. Well sometime around then, some industrious craftsmen were sawing down oak trees, cutting them into planks and laying down the wood into my floor. So some 47,450 days later (that would be 68,320,000 minutes of steps, weather changes, barometric pressure dips, moving furniture, pets scratching etc, mopping, waxing, insects, new owners, joy, tears and changing seasons), the oak changed into patches of pine and polyurethane stains and here we are. We called in Vintage Flooring to remedy the planks that were cracked, where former patching jobs were failing, and to address the aging yellow stain. They came out quickly, presented us with a quote to replace planks and to replace the entire floor. We selected to replace the damaged section only. They started work but informed us that the floor was too damaged and the entire floor needed to be replaced. Entire process from start to finish was 4 days. Floor looks gorgeous. Minor deductions: change from sections of floor to entire floor (although they cautioned us) shoebase will have to be redone and I found a Budweiser can (empty) outside the room. Nicest floor in the house now. Spoiler alert: more work to come! read more

I gave them a 5 star review the first time around but i cam't seem to find it here. Maybe the older ones fell off. Sept 2025 I had Vintage Flooring refinish my wood floors about 8 years ago. Fantastic job and I couldn't have been happier. Fast forward to 2025 when I had an HVAC flood and my floors were ruined, so i didn't get any other quotes. I went with what I was happy with. When I got a quote before, they weren't the cheapest, but they weren't the most expensive either. I picked a time when I was going to be out of town for exactly 2 weeks. I put everything in bins, as much as I could, and put post it notes all over my house to be careful with certain things and notes since I wasn't going to be here. They were supposed to come over the day before my vacation to move a few things and remove boards to make sure it had 3 days of drying before they continued. I got an extra fan from the building do make sure everything would go smoothly. Something came up and they did't make it, so I had to rely strictly on my post it notes. Halfway through my trip I was notified that for 5 or 6 days the guys didn't come by because of ICE. I get it and sympathize completely. I told Jayson the date I was coming home and to make sure that everything was back in place. I said if it couldn't be and they needed 1 more day, that I needed to at least have access to my bedroom/office. I got back and everything was piled into my bedroom and bathroom with everything completely empty. That wasn't acceptable. Especially since it had been an extremely long day of travel. I messaged Jayson right away and he did send 3 guys to move things into place. They were in a really big hurry and didn't seem to really care too much. I had taped and marked my electronics so I knew how to hook them back up. They didn't seem to care about that and the things that they had to unhook I couldn't get back together and they didn't seem to care to help. First, the floors were great and I have no complaints about that. Aside Erin that, they broke my old, beautiful wood desk, several of my plants, and some other fragile items I moved out of the way and hung in my bathroom out of the way. I had put the plants on the window sills so they wouldn't have to move them and a lot of them on the kitchen counters. I was really careful and spent a lot of time marking things especially fragile furniture. I don't think that English was their first language, which I don't care about, but they didn't read of follow my post-it notes placed all over the place on a bunch of items. So bottom line, I would say make sure that you are around while they are doing the process. I thought it would be great and easy for them without having to worry about me being in their way for 2 weeks. Especially since they had to move everything to one side of my condo, finish that and move things back and do the other side. read more

They installed the floors and i had some crack, no big deal, but then when I tried to get jayson to come over to take a look to see what can be done he doesnt answer my phone calls, he has not responded to any texts from me in 2 weeks and its been 2 months since i contacted him about the issue. Stupendously Spectacular! From start to finish, simply, breathtakingly exceptional speed, thoroughness, punctuality, efficiency, quality. Purchasing a new home in chicagoland, we realized we needed to replace 2,000+ sq ft of carpeted rooms with vinyl or hardwood. After interviewing 6 other companies, we thought we had our decision locked. Then, Jayson at Vintage Flooring Company came in our last interview / quote of the day. He entered the property in a friendly attitude, swiftly took measurements & wrote out the quote, very quickly in our kitchen. LIKE other quotes earlier in the day, he informed us the 2 sets of stairs could not be installed efficiently with vinyl as opposed to hard wood. UNLIKE previous quotes in the day, his overall price was NOT the cheapest... but OVERALL more competitively priced, AND he could deliver the wood the VERY NEXT MORNING! Getting a jump on the temperature & humidity control acclimation for an extra successful install was extremely appealing to us. We had a short window we wanted to compete this project. So after reviewing his references & comparing the other bids, we called Jayson a couple hours later & agreed to his price. Next day, Saturday, wood delivered. Wood acclimates for 4 days. Wednesday morning, his team shows up at 8am as scheduled. In no time, they are ripping out the carpet. The team foreman realized a couple of the bedrooms would need new baseboards. Jayson was able to source & supply these immediately with no additional project time. Thursday, all carpet long gone & stripping of additional 1500 sq ft of existing older hardwood is being stripped to match new wood. New red oak hardwood install begins. We choose the stain we want throughout. Friday, all wood is installed, sanded & smoothed. Stairs are installed. Some squeaks were present but they had brilliant solution to fix squeaks. Saturday, staining & polish / seal is applied. Monday we see this finished product & just wow, wow, wow! All the old wood sanded down matched our new wood far better than I ever thought it could've. I would give zero stars if allowable. It all started with getting a reasonable estimate to sand and refinish roughly 510 square feet of living space in July 2025. Two men from Jayson's crew came out to complete the job. On the first day, Francisco and the other gentleman showed when I was told they were going to show up and sanded the entire floor. The second day, Francisco came by himself and was 2 hours late. On the third day, they didn't even show up at all, even though he informed his boss, Jayson, that he would be coming out. So, instead of the project lasting four days like it was supposed to, floor refinishing took 2 1/2 to 3 days, resulting in a rushed, botched up job. I was told by Nathan, (person who gives estimates), that Francisco has been working with Jayson for 20 years? If that is the case, Jayson needs to relearn how to run a business and hire people who know how to refinish floors. Hallway, 2 sets of stairs (11 steps total) and adjoining living/dining room need to be redone due to their incompetence. There are now dark edges with globules of stain around almost the entire perimeter of hallway and living/dining room. I also discovered part of the hallway area which had debris stuck in the finish that I had to pick out!! There are also areas of discoloration in the finish. A 25% discount off of an over $3000 job is not enough compensation for needing to have the entire flooring redone by another company that actually knows what they are doing. Sadly we opted to go with a floating floor in luxury plank for our basement. Vintage convinced us to go floating over glue down (which others recommended) and it's so bouncy, I stopped them mid-project and noted my concern that it felt weird and I was concerned about long-term breakage, etc. They kept saying it's normal and not to worry about it, however, it's now been done and everyone who comes over is like woah that's BOUNCY, it's not just some it's weird in just some places on the floor, not all over. It clearly feels not installed correctly as it's worse in some places than others. We have now decided we will need to eat the entire cost and put down new flooring as this is just not working for us. read more

We planned for 4 days and despite having to change flooring because of the unlevelness (pretty sure that's not a word) of our basement floor, they finished on time. A little more product guidance could have been useful - he knows the product but left me to deciding and subsequently I picked a more rigid product than was suitable for the inconsistency of our basement, but we quickly rectified that. Zero stars. I received an estimate for the work. They suggested ac unit that they would provide to perform work and I would pay for. I agreed to it. They scheduled work for yesterday, and the crew left without performing the work. They appear to use outside contractors and contractors can cancel before starting work. Jason/Nate stated that if they do not want to work, they leave. I found this out after it was scheduled. The never dropped off the ac units I ordered. They guaranteed me a work crew for today. The work crew arrived today and said they could come back tomorrow after ac units delivered, but I think they received another job. The work crew left. I called Jason and he said Nate would be there within a few hours today to deliver ac units that they had to be there before the start of the work to cool the room down for sanding. I was not informed of this. Then he told me it would be in twenty-four hours and they would work tomorrow or not at all. Then Jason while on the phone with me decided to cancel the job. The first day it was Tony and the second day it was Manny and neither did the work. I said the work scheduled was sanding and staining. Jayson is the owner and is unprofessional. I rarely write a negative review but I feel if I were to go forward with a company (especially a time sensitive project -- luckily we were not) I would want to know about the experience we just had. Background on our project: My parents used them and raved about them: the work looked gorgeous. We were looking to redo two bedrooms' hardwoods in Northbrook. We met with him, he came to our house, nice guy, helped us talk over our options, he was very helpful and told us that he would drop of stain samples when we book a date for the project. When we booked the date, he changed what he initially said and told us he would put the samples on the newly sanded floor the day of the project to decide the stain. (The only other option was to look at pictures on the internet which if you know about color that isn't always accurate on screens) I only have certain times with my job where I could come home to make that decision so we picked the time during that date scheduled. (Screenshots attached, # cropped for his privacy) He texts me late the night before the project and said he couldn't do the decided time. Which is fine, things come up. We were not in a rush to get this done so we tried to work with him and asked if we could just pick a different day to do the project since I had to come home from work to decide the stain. He told me he wasn't interest anymore in us and just canceled. I'm glad this project was not our renovation coming up in fall where we have a tight timeline. I have never been pressured to make a game time decision on choosing a stain color that is going to determine the floor stain for our entire house. When we redid our townhouse and never had issues getting stain samples with a different company and we decided before the project even started. He made no effort to work with us. It's really unfortunate. I am not sure what caused this cancellation. My guess was we were a small potato project? Although we told him we wanted him to do our entire house after these two rooms. We were nothing but nice to him and tried to accommodate all his changes in plan and schedule. We are a young couple so maybe it's because we asked too many questions? Your guess is as good as ours. It's a mystery. Never have had this experience before with a service provider. And we have a fixer upper, so we use a lot of various service providers. read more

Long story short; Jason didn't follow the instructions on the installment and my floors are coming apart / chipping away, after just 2 years. The story; I had Jason and his team do work for me in October 2021. They were quick and the price seemed too good to be true. Turns out that it was too good to be true. The reason is was so low was because they said the floor did not need to be leveled. Cut to a year later, the vinyl is coming out of place and breaking apart. I complained, and Jason blamed my tenant for using rolling chairs on their floor (which is a ridiculous deviation of blame). He eventually after 5 months of back and forth, sent guys out to just replace and glue down the pieces coming up. Well another year later, those pieces are coming back up and the floor is breaking again. After looking up the product he used, I learned the first step was "you must level the floors", which they didn't. So I am at a loss for about $3k because Jason refuses to accept responsibility for skipping the first step in the instructions. I am not a floor expert , I know nothing about flooring. All I know is that according the the instructions for the product he used, he did not follow them. The exact quote from the manufacturer (which unfortunately I learned far too late): "Existing Floor Coverings: 1. SPC/WPC - Vinyl Plank can be installed over most existing hard-surface floor coverings, provided that the existing floor surface is smooth or can be made smooth." - picture attached will prove they did not follow this step (the first step). If you also don't know anything about flooring, and plan on trusting these guys to do the right thing ...get a second opinion or simply use someone else. Even his own workers admitted to me the floor should have been leveled when they came back to "fix" it. At this point I will be forced to move forward with my lawyer. I suggest you do yourself a favor and find someone else to avoid all this. Of course I am happy to update this review and/or settle if Jason does the right thing, which at this point is to refund me, because I do not trust him to fix it correctly as he already did a bad job twice, and his reviews on BBB and Yelp suggests he has done this to other people too. read more

The workers didn't speak much english or straight ignored me and I talked to Jason, who didn't seem to undersatnd me, but he did look at it and said its fine. We had a bad experience with Nathan, Jayson, and the Vintage Flooring crew. They sanded and stained our home's floors in two stages at our request, which was appreciated, but the quality of the work was beyond disappointing. Some areas simply weren't sanded, the stain was applied so sloppily it got all over surrounding surfaces (even on floors not being redone (in basement)), floor registers were closed, then stained, effectively sealing the airflow shut, and there are circular drips/drops of the clear top coat everywhere. We brought these issue up with both Nathan and Jayson, but received nothing but increasingly absurd excuses throughout the project. I've never had a trade be so dismissive of a customers concerns, and so completely unwilling to address them. We wouldn't recommend Vintage Flooring and are completely unhappy with the work they did. read more

We decided to go with Vintage Flooring Company because they were able to get us on the schedule before moving into our new house, their prices were reasonable, and they assured us the varnish they used would hold up to our two medium sized dogs. The work was not done on time, and in fact, they had to redo our living room three times - the last of which was after we moved in, so all our stuff had to go in the kitchen and bedrooms because the living room was not finished. The cited reason for the varnish not drying and then crackling was pet stains from the previous owner. These stains were pointed out to me when I came by to choose the stain, so it is unclear to me how a company with so much experience wouldn't give me at least a heads up that there may be drying/varnish issues because of the pet stains. At one point, they sent a crew member over to fix the floors without checking with us first. So, while they were responsive, the communication was poor. For instance, it wasn't until 2 weeks after the majority of the floors were done that they provided us with any floor care instructions. So we've been living with our redone floors for 5 weeks now and they are full of scratches from our dogs - some scratches have even taken out the finish, showing bare floor. To say we are disappointed is an understatement. While they did provide us a discount for not being able to get the living room floors done correctly (which, that's right, there are still issues), it doesn't change the fact that their work/products haven't held up to our dogs (which we discussed with Jayson at length) in this short amount of time and we will need to redo our floors in the near future. Don't throw your money away on this company. read more

The finish coat was applied only once because in 3 hours they applied 2 coats ?? of finish of 1500 sqft home area and after that there were drips/drops of the finish coat on multiple area . Not happy until your happy is FALSE. The initial stain color sample test they did on our floor looked good. When they did the whole floor the color was not even close to the sample they showed us or what we wanted. They basically told us to redo the floor color they wanted us to pay an additional 2/3 the original quote. They also said if we did not pay it we would need to wait one to two weeks for them to have another opening to come back. We were in a hotel and our furniture was in a pod. They didn't care and basically bullied us into paying $2500 extra to finally get what we originally asked for. On top of it they scratched the floor moving the furniture back in. After removing and replacing all of the flooring in the condominium. This took approximately 4 days. The price was just over $7,000. There were large gaps around the door frames and between the bathroom and kitchen walkway. No floor cills were put in place in between the door frames and the owner after numerous e-mails back and forth finally came out. He stated he would Place putty in place of the lousy work. I've had numerous floor installers out and stayed at the job was not completed properly. The owner said take me to court. Guess what I will be taking him to court.
