The problem is the edge of the stairs which everyone sees when sitting in our parlor look like horse manure...NOT the installers Fault but the type of carpeting that was ordered we were informed after the installation. Mind you we sat with one of the owners Len and explained what we needed and where...he said I have exactly what you need and when I asked IF we could take color samples home, he handed us a chart with swatches ready to go. Then he came out to measure and my husband said we weren't sure on the color and he helped us...picking the color my husband and friends picked which looks wonderful. The problem lies in that it has somewhat of a stripe effect and on the edges of the stairs, they could not be matched they are so crooked and look sloppy. IF you live in the Chicago area they run like ARCHER AVENUE. My husband went in with pictures and Len said his top guy would be out to look at it. The person that came out said it was definitely the wrong carpet for our type of stairs. he did say some customers would not notice it...BUT that I am very visual and see it. No offense anyone with or without glasses can't help BUT notice it. MY husband noticed it before me and he is NOT VISUAL. The MAN said he did NOT know what he could do to fix it because he could not remove the staples... the ends would ravel and he would not have carpet to work with then. I asked him to please stress to the owner that HE PICKED THE WRONG CARPET FOR OUR HOME WITH 12 STAIRS, he said he would BUT he kind of made us believe nothing would be done to rectify this situation. Needless to say it has been over a week since this man was in our home and we have NOT heard a word from LEN. I am almost 75 years old and I have NEVER written a bad review on line, I always try to work things out and get satisfaction. The PROBLEM here is I knew and so DID my husband when the MAN left we were NOT going to get a happy solution to this problem. I told the MAN when he left please left LEN know he has a disgruntled customer and we would NOT do BUSINESS there again. I received a phone message two weeks later. When I called back to schedule I had to wait another week and a half for an appointment. On the day of the appointment I called the store to find out where the person was (it was 45 minutes past the appointment time). I was told the person had some issues that day and was running late but still would make the appointment. The store person told me he would contact the person and have her call me to let me know when she would arrive. Thirty minutes later I called the store again and was told a text was sent to her. I told the store it would have been nice to receive a call that she was running late. I told the store to cancel the appointment for that day. Two hours later I received a call from the person who was to perform the measure. She explained she had a family issue (that's OK) and would contact me the following Monday to re-schedule. Monday came and went and no call to re-schedule a measure. I hope others have a better experience because I was not impressed. A simple phone call would have been nice.

Some would not tell me the brand the flooring was. Some just did not know their products. It was all so frustrating. Then along came Charles. My knight in shiny armor. He is sincere, honest and truly cares about your needs. He lets you know if there is a delay or a problem. I felt that I was in good hands. He told me all I needed for the floor. The supplier he deals with is top notch. Then came delivery/installation. I was immediately was put at ease with the worker he sent. I wanted to keep him. He did a nice job installing the floor. As soon as there was a little dust or mess there he was with his broom and vacuum. I love my floor. I did not even have to get use to it. My old floor was dark and this one was quite lighter. I do not expect to have any problems now. If I do I have confidence that Charles and his crew would be right here. Carpeting will be done soon. My plan is to go with Charles again. Skip the fast talkers and go with Nationwide Floor and Windows.

When the installer team came out, they did not replace the boards and told me new boards were unnecessary. I was still charged for the board replacements anyway. I disputed this directly with the company on March 19th, the day of the installation, and did not receive a follow-up. I had to reach back out on March 31st to continue addressing the issue. At that point, they asked for photos, despite my earlier explanation that photos would not prove anything because of the nature of the work. Today, they responded by saying the pictures were "not proof" and agreed to issue a refund, but only after I pushed the issue. At that point, it's no longer just about the money. It's about integrity, poor internal communication, and how a legitimate customer concerns are handled by this business.

It took some time and patience, but after quite a bit of back and forth, we reached a satisfactory resolution, and our floors now look great. Stay calm and kind. Most of the people you speak with are not decision-makers; they relay your issues to those who are. If you treat them kindly, they will "fight" for you and prioritize you as a customer. If you're not satisfied, ask to speak with managers and have all your information and proper documentation ready. Again, I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to remain calm and kind. You can achieve a reasonable resolution. Don't give up and they will make things right.

I was incredibly unhappy with Empire. To begin with, they were the best price and they had a floor…read morethat matched others in a house I bought. The salesman did not notice that there was tile below the current floor or even think it might be an asbestos floor. I know he saw the floor because I watched him. When the installer showed up, he said he could not install because of the asbestos. I had it remediated and the installer came back. He put in the new floor but refused to move the furniture into the rooms or re-install the closet doors. He said they did not tell him he had to do this so he did not have a crew with him to do it. His supervisor promised another appointment in a few days to move everything back. I began calling Empire a day or so later to confirm the appointment and was told there was not one. Each call I made to them told me something different. Finally they told me that they would not move furniture into a room that they did not take it out of or re-install doors that they did not take down. My contract was clear that they move furniture in and out. There was one larger dresser that we could not get into the room and had to hire some moving guys to do that and of course, to pay for that. Empire has offered me a credit of $140 which is just a token to me. The salesman, the installer, the people on the phone, the supervisor, they all had a different story for the issues we were having. Hence, I would not recommend this company. And if you use them, not only get it in writing but record your phone calls (totally illegal) but I wish that I had.
