Cleaned my antique rug. Unfortunately they didn't test the color fastness before proceeding with the cleaning and the rug dramatically changed colors after. They didn't offer any remedy. Carpet Culture is one of the few remaining neighborhood places in SoHo that employs real craftspeople. They did an amazing job washing several of my mid-century Swedish rugs and an even more impressive job restoring them - one had a hole in it and extremely worn out pattern. Their crafts-people repaired the hole and the pattern and the carpet looks almost like new now. The owner is extremely friendly and easy to deal with. I don't usually leave bad reviews but when we received our antique carpets back they were not properly sealed. The plastic coverings were torn and literally shredded. One carpet we put down right away so not an issue. The other we put in storage for our daughter who was away at college. I had never experienced carpet moths before so did not think much of the wisps of plastic at the time other than how unprofessional it looked. But when we finally removed it from storage the carpet was so infested and ruined we had to throw it out. Very gross. We were so disappointed that this family heirloom was destroyed, not to mention the hundreds of dollars gone to waste on cleaning. If you plan on storing a cleaned carpet do yourself a favor and get them to wrap it properly or do it yourself. Or better yet find another vendor! read more

Buyer Beware!!!! Carpet Culture's "Navajo" rugs for sale on their website are not actual Navajo rugs. They are replicas. Dhurrie rugs made in India in fact. If you look at the description of their "Navajo" rugs no where does it indicate that these rugs are made in India. In fact, they use words like 'authentic' and 'American' which I believe are deliberately misleading. We purchased a "Navajo" rug online from Carpet Culture in 2019. We just had it appraised and the appraiser identified it as a dhurrie rug and provided an estimated value for far less than what we paid. I am trying to contact the appropriate authorities regarding Carpet Culture. I have also asked them to please change the very misleading descriptions of their "Navajo" rugs. I would strongly caution anyone from purchasing a rug here. read more

Had a tough situation where I purchased a large carpet that didn't look great in my apartment. I didn't do a great job of communicating with the owner (Javaid) about their return policy ahead of time. Turns out I had purchased a non-refundable carpet. Instead of sticking me with the purchase, Javaid went out of his way to get approval for a full refund knowing that I wasn't happy with the way that it looked and had just spent a lot of money. We purchased 2 oriental rugs from the owner, Javaid, and the entire process could not have been better. Both rugs were for different areas of our living room, so they had to be complementary, and while one of our selection was too big, Javaid had it cut to the right size and rebound for just a small cost, and it came out perfect. He sent us home with one rug in an Uber (at his cost), and in just a couple of days he delivered the cut-down rug (again at no charge), and gifted us new padding for it. The cut-down rug was even delivered days ahead of schedule. Javaid had inspected our old rugs (which were stained because a cat, now dead, had thrown up on it over some years), and he was willing to have them cleaned and redyed (as best as possible), rather than just pushing us to buy the new ones. We opted for new rugs, but he never pushed us. While he told us how to immediately treat any stains on our new rugs, he encouraged us to simply call him so he could orchestrate the cleaning at what would be a reasonable cost and good result. He is clearly desirous of making long-term satisfied customers, rather than a quick sale. Based on our looking around, and the cost of our old rugs, the prices of these new rugs were very reasonable, and he had a wide selection of various sizes. read more

Two of our Afghan rugs were horribly stained when our dog was a puppy and liked to sneak into rooms and pee on them. Years ago we sent one to a different cleaner and they were unable to do much.
