Excellent work. Our Tibetan rug hadn't been professionally cleaned for about 20 years. Just weekly vacuuming and seltzer for spills etc. No visible stains, but lots of accumulated dust, and the color and luster weren't great. After the free onsite consultation, we chose standard shampooing of both sides. Not cheap, but about what I had figured. They kept the rug about a month, and when it came back it was better than new. Literally. Great color and luster, with the added character of age. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is I had to call for delivery after a month (there was no delivery date on the receipt). Apparently the rug was ready, and waiting for my call. But that's minor. It was definitely worth the wait. And if you have a good rug, you want to send it to someone you can trust. This is the second time I have used Sunlight rug cleaning service; the first time, several years ago, was after a huge flood in my apartment when the toilet overflowed. The odors that permeated the rugs were almost impossible to remove; however, sunlight's staff,with its expert care reworked them at least three times until all the fetid odors were gone. They did much extra work with sincere professionalism and never complained about the necessity to duplicate the process until we and they were satisfied. My rugs are hand- made,heavy, expensive, oriental rugs, and without Sunlight's care, I would have had to throw them out and lost several thousand dollars. After unfortunate flooding and septic damage to my antique oriental rug (that's been passed down for generations), I decided to call Sunlight Rug Care to hopefully repair these damages. Ben came to pick up the rug and after a few weeks he laid it out and it looked and smelled amazing, almost new. When I took a closer look I was disappointed to find a cut by the fringe that was not there prior to the pickup. Of course I called very upset and got a very efficient response from Haim Shemesh. After some back and forth, which is normal, Haim said that it wouldn't be the easiest job and that they'd have to redo the entire edge. At this point I got nervous because I had already spent unexpected money to salvage the rug. He was extremely responsive, worked with me to fit within my budget and even went above and beyond to give me a free color fix! I never write reviews but Haim deserves recognition for this, given that my rug came back looking even better than before with a painless exchange with him and Sunlight Rug Care. Their work is flawless- they clean the carpets by hand, let you know if they would recommend any repairs (last year we fixed the fringes on one piece, next year we will do the bindings). Haim and his staff are very personable and refreshingly reliable and we were quite happy with the work. The rug underpads that Haim recommended were significantly better quality as well as cheaper than the thin, flimsy underpads we had been sold by the previous rug cleaner, one that is well known in NYC, but has recently disappointed us greatly. The turnaround time was appropriate (about a week), and when it was returned to me, I noticed that there were some discolorations that were not there previously. I wrote, some weeks later since I am not one to complain or send things back, and they came to take the rug back the next day. This time, when it was returned, the rug was brighter and I could tell there was some elbow work to get the stains out (successfully).
