This is my first Yelp review, but this business definitely deserves all the exposure I can give! I moved into my first NYC apartment a few months ago. I started looking at the usual suspects--Bed Bath & Beyond, Home Depot, and IKEA--for area rugs at my new place. I was getting pretty frustrated with their lack of selection and their inability to accommodate the unique dimensions of the rooms. One of my friends recommend Carpets & Us, which is close to where I grew up on Long Island. It may be a small business, but it has the biggest carpet selection I have ever seen! I cannot say enough about the staff; they are phenomenal! They are all extremely knowledgeable and really took the time to listen to my needs. The first carpet they recommended was exactly what I was looking for and even custom cut it to fit my apartment perfectly! They truly seemed invested in making sure I got exactly what I needed within my price range and treated me like family. Oh, I forgot to mention they even do custom flooring! This is now the only place I'll go for my carpeting and flooring needs. read more

In August of 2023 , I moved my office and ordered carpet from Carpets& us, the car pet was delivered and installed on time and in pristine condition. I was a happy customer . But the excellence did not stop there, on September 29 2023. there was an epic rainstorm that resulted in flooding in the new office. Carpet & us was back at the office within 24 hours, removing and replacing wet padding and going way beyond the scope of a flooring company. I should have written this review a few weeks ago, but I found it difficult to find the correct glowing words to use in this review. We first went to Carpets & Us on April 1, 2024 via a recommendation from a friend. While working with Nancy and Carol I received a telephone call that my brother had passed away. I had never met these two wonderful ladies, but that afternoon I received a condolence food delivery from Ben's arranged by Carpets & Us. (I had never used them before: just met them: and they spent their time and money to express a condolence to a stranger.) My wife and I spent hours at Carpets & Us looking at samples and having Nancy send swatches to the house. We finally settled on a carpet and the price at Carpets & Us was more than competitive. As great as Nancy and Carol are, the installer that they use, Wilson, was equally as fantastic. Wilson and his brother George install carpets, paint, and perform numerous other jobs. They are my "go to" folks. Needless-to-say, I highly recommend Carpets & Us to anyone! read more

I tried for several weeks to order floors with Nancy (the owner). She still has not given me a specific price for the products I want. I told her the demensions and specs for the products I need with specific details, but she gives a runaround response without ever getting anything done. She has a complete lack of professionalism and knowledge of the business. I have been redoing my house for months and come into contact with many contractors, salespeople, etc. She is by far the most rude and ignorant of them all. It takes a lot for me to speak so poorly of a person, but I want to warn people so someone else doesn't have to endure the stress Nancy and this business has given me. I found a much better company to work with, as they also had access to order the exact floors I wanted! A happy ending, but unfortunately Carpets and Us was not the reason for these positive results. Edit: She was in the showroom alone due to the effects of COVID-19, which is completely understandable. She said she could still order products for us, but now in her comment on my post, she is making excuses about problems that did not exist for her. Nancy and Carol are absolutely amazing! From the moment I walked into the store until the very end they were both helping me along the way with not only picking out the carpet but helping with matching up the paint colors and ensuring I was happy every step of the way. The price is unmatched and the carpeting looks beautiful. As soon as we were ready for carpet to be installed in one room but not others they were ready and allowed me to install multiple rooms on different days just making everything very easy for me so I didn't have to clean out all rooms at once. After shopping around, my mother and I couldn't have been happier than we were when we entered this store. Being greeted in a jovial manner by two young ladies, they were extremely professional and pleasant...they both had a smile on them and helped us (my mom) find the exact carpet color she was looking for. We gave Carol the size of the pieces we needed, she priced it right out for us, and beat ALL the competitors' prices by 30-50%, with delivery! We left happier than when we arrived! On the very next day, I went back and paid. Approximately 1 week later, the young man that also helps out there, and who is also very professional and considerate delivered the carpet pieces we ordered! Used this store for approximately 25 years. Bought laminate flooring directly from owner Nancy Skolnick who knew we had dogs and said it was "perfect for our lifestyle." Product began peeling in less than two years. It is now almost four years, she promised to replace the product, had us in many times to select flooring and now has reneged. I worked with the whole sales team for a very large project for my company and all I can say the whole staff couldn't of been more helpful and went above and beyond there level of service to make things beautiful. Carpets & Us are truly a amazing place. Once my husband and I walked in the door we were met by Nancy after a few minutes of speaking to her we knew she wasn't just trying to sell us a rug she wanted us to be happy with our rug. Within days Dennis(very nice man) came measured and 4 days later our rug was installed. I will say I did work looking at many rug places but CARPETS & US have won us over. This was the easiest and best rug shopping experience we have had. Not to mention the customer service is beyond exceptional. My fiance and I have had a dog for almost 3 years now and every now and then he has an unexpected accident. After listing a few of the things we wanted in an area rug, Carpet and Us, were able to provide us with a few options. We ended up taking a pet proof area rug, of which is incredibly easy to clean if any accidents were to happen, for our living room and 2 smaller pieces for our bedroom. As a transplant from Long Island, NY to Atlanta, Georgia it's a challenge to assist my elderly parents maintain their primary residence in NY. They wanted to update their home with a Luxury Vinyl Plank flooring product that I recently had professionally installed in my home after heavily researching the plethora of options. They currently have 20+ year old carpeting. The challenge was for me to shop reputable retail flooring stores in NY, while in Georgia. I read many reviews online and became very knowledgeable. Home Depot, Lowes and Empire Floors had HORRIBLE experiences as described by savvy consumers. I ultimately contacted several local stores, and spoke to salespeople who sounded like they were commission driven and not interested in my situation. Ultimately, I contacted Carpets & Us in Levittown, NY. I spoke extensively over the phone with Bill, the store manager. He offered to provide a complimentary measure of my parents home and assess the floors for the product I was interested in installing. Ultimately, we contracted Carpets and Us to supply and install the new flooring. Their prices were very reasonable and they didn't nickel and dime us with incidental charges. Their installers were very professional and immaculate. They were very kind to my elderly parents and assisted them with moving their furniture.
