After talking and looking at cars , I was looking at different options of SUVs with a 3rd row. Kareem was very patient , professional and knowledgeable . Too make this long story short I went from wanting to certified pre owned Mitsubishi to purchasing a "2026" Santa fee w/no money down and I absolutely love it . Thanks you carmax fur everything ! We only made the initial payment and car had to be towed (yes, it was not safe to drive back) not once but twice one with a radiator that had a hole in it and once due to active severe misfirings because of the bad spark plugs. We were told that if you were in a auto mechanic school and make such mistakes of not checking these coils or plugs you would never complete your education. It is really disheartening that they proud themselves about this so-called certification, yet they can't even do something as basic as a first month of student should know to check. It was a hustle to tow the car over there. Now we are on the same boat. Second time with a completely different problem. Unless you're a mechanic and can open up the engine and check all around that compartments I would be very wary to buy any used car from CarMax.

All I can say is... woof!!! I originally spoke with Allison…read moreMorgan at the Easterns Location in Frederick about a used 2023 Honda I was interested in. She offered to transfer the car to their White Marsh location free of charge and set up an appointment for me to come in last Saturday so I could check it out. When I showed up Saturday the dealership was completely unaware that I was coming in and the car was still at the Frederick location. At this point I genuinely thought I got scammed because none of the staff I spoke with knew who Allison was. They offered to get the car same day and bring it back, which I appreciated, but I asked if I could come back on Monday. I received multiple texts from one of the salesman on Monday confirming the car was at the White Marsh location and how excited he was for me to see it. They also called me and asked if I wanted to officially apply for the car, which I rejected because I had not seen or driven the car at that point. He continued to push me to apply for the car, and I still stated I would only apply for the car if I thought it was right for me. I get to the dealership for the second time, and the salesman I had an appointment with was not there. Like the last time I was there, the rest of the staff did not know I was coming in or that I had an appointment. Regardless, I spoke with another salesman and continued my appointment. In the middle of us discussing interest amounts and my credit score, I heard a familiar song on the loudspeakers: "my neck, my back, lick my and my crack". It was the censored version of the song, but to be fair it wasn't much better than the uncensored version. I was shocked and stopped in the middle of speaking to bring this to the car salesman's attention. We laughed and had a short exchange about it, but neither he nor any other staff member in the area (including the sales manager) did anything to change the music immediately. The car salesman went to pull the car up while I waited inside. The sales manager finally told them to change the music about halfway through the second chorus of the song, but the damage was already done. Nothing screams professionalism quite like My Neck, My Back by Khia. It became even more obvious to me after this moment that the sales manager and staff didn't care. In fact, most of the staff thought it was funny and were laughing about it. I guess happy hour came early. Anyways, after even more waiting at the dealership the salesman came back and informed me the car was still not there. In fact, he showed me his computer monitor and told me the car was being state inspected at their corporate location in Virginia. Now, I may not know much about cars, but in what world would a car need to get state inspected in Virginia when it's being sold in Maryland? It would still need to pass state inspection in Maryland for me to drive it anyways, as I would be registering the car in Maryland. The salesman let me know it would take approx. 5-15 days to complete the inspection process and he would let me know when the car was ready. So again, for the second time coming to this dealership, I still haven't seen the car. Then, after I left and went home, the salesman texted me that another staff member at the dealership had the key to the car and asked me to come back. So, now I'm confused- why would it matter if you had the key to the car if the car wasn't there? I get another call and text from the sales manager apologizing for the confusion and saying that the car was at the dealership and I could come back to take a look at it. I did not answer any of these messages because I was frustrated and confused. Why was I lied to about the car being state inspected in Virginia? Why are we playing inappropriate songs in a place of business? It is unacceptable to treat potential customers this way. I was so taken aback at the lack of communication and professionalism from the staff at the Frederick and White Marsh locations. I came in there to possibly drop $25k on a car and they treated it like a joke. If you enjoy having your time wasted and listening to sex jams while you're trying to buy a used car then this seedy place might be right for you.

I selected Change Oil and Filter, Check top off fluids, set and check tire pressure, and reset oil light price which was listed at $28.17. I arrived for my appointment left keys in vehicle was escorted inside service center and was told to check in with front desk. I spoke with Mr. London Hall told him i was her for an oil change he said okay have a seat. I sat down 4 mins later Mr. Hall approached me and said my past works card was expired would i like to renew for a new works package. I told Mr. Hall no i want what i selected online just the oil change for $28.17. At that time Mr. Grayson Harazin who was seated to the left of Mr. Hall stated that price online was for the labor only. I was dumb founded at 1st then ask well how much is just an oil change nothing extra Mr. Harazin stated $89.00. I said thats crazy i could get Jiffy lube to do a standard oil change for $40 which is still a little high. Mr. Hall said i can get 4 oil changes for $100 with a years time with the works and asked if id rather have that i said okay reluctantly. So i returned to my seat and got back online to see if any small print said this price is just labor price i didnt see any such thing written on website. I returned to speak with Mr. Hall, Mr. Harazin stepped away and was in the shop. I told him no where does it state that the price online is just labor. I told him that bait and switch pricing which is illegal i wanted to speak with a manager he disappeared for 7 mins returning with Mr. Harazin who said he was the manager. I stated that the price online is $28.17 no.where does it say labor price i told him this is illegal maryland has consumer protections against predatory business practices such as this. Mr. Harazin said those prices listed all say "starting at" i advised him that only two stated that the others give firm pricing. Mr. Grayson said he would give me the oil change at $28.17 but he would have them Al Packer Ford change the website. I got my vehicle back they comped the oil change. I am writing because what they tried to do is illegal bait and switch. Up selling is legal but you cant lie to a consumer to get them to switch a service. They advertise a price to get you there then get you to pay more with unhonest tactics. I am happy i didnt have to pay for the oil change after all that nonsense but how many people has this exact tactic been used on. People who dont know any better would just except the 4 oil changes for $100. Which is $25 an oil change by the way so why is a singe oil change $89. Something needs to be done about this. No one should have to go through this kind of unethical business practices.

Like everybody, I waited patiently in your thimble-sized office, navigated your comically undersized lot, and quietly appreciated the humor of your staff through the years. Thank you for that. So why today was I met by two new faces at the service desk with such a strikingly different attitude? I was surprised to hear oil changes require advance appointments, and you now prefer online. I mean, sure, I can do that. But when did that change? And why was a technician I've never seen before so condescending about it? He was downright hostile. Then the other guy chimed in and accused me of interrupting him. Honestly, gentlemen, I asked myself, "Is it worth it to schedule an appointment with you, if I know it's going to be you calling me to tell me any additional work that may need to be done? Do I trust the two of you?" The answer in that split-second moment was no. The arrogance, sarcasm, and belittling behavior by this pair made me realize I wouldn't trust these two to be the communicators of my mechanic shop. When I asked where the two old guys went, Kyle said with a smirk, "They went where all old guys go." Um, did they die? No, they retired, thankfully. Old guys from the desk, you are missed by your customers! Maybe it's the same great mechanics working behind closed bay doors at Hollenshade's, I don't know. Two guys I've never seen before told me things about how the business works that I've never heard before and treated me in a way no one at Hollenshades ever treated me before. Which leads me to the conclusion that this is not the same Hollenshade's I've trusted for over 20 years. I'm genuinely disappointed that I need to find a new mechanic. I honestly don't know what's happening at Hollenshade's anymore.

Charged me $220, ok. Not even 2 full hours later of me driving around to do errands my engine light comes back on. Not only that within a week after me bringing my car to them, my car starts starting and not staying on. This happened 3 times within a span of a week. I got stuck in a garage because my car wouldn't start anymore and a guy my school sent out looked at my oil and said it was dark!! i brought my car BACK to bob's and they then charge me another $200 just to clean out a sensor but on the receipt it says they removed and replaced the sensor (lying on paperwork) and they said this was a new code to pop up. But when I brought my car to autozone before coming to Bob's, they told me the MAF sensor was the issue. The outside was fine, and the front half of my car on the inside was fine, but they didn't touch any of my seats in the back. At all. There was still sand and pet hair on the floorboards and backseats (got back from vacation). And it wasn't like a bomb went off in the backseat with sand and hair all over the place. For 47 bucks I expect them to at least make some effort to vacuum the ENTIRE interior. Maybe it was because my vehicle isn't a high-End luxury car? Or maybe it was the workers being lazy? Mixture of both? Who knows. I will only be going here for the exterior from now UPDATE: My last review from last year was 2 stars. Changed it to 4 stars today. I paid for the platinum detail and the employees did a great job with the interior. Was it perfect? No. But it was a huge improvement from my last review and they definitely took their time vacuuming and wiping down the interior. So, I am happy with the work that was done for what I paid.
