I remained polite and professional and attempted to explain to larry that i was quoted a price significantly less than what he was attempting to charge me. additionally, i agree to pay a higher price than quoted but felt that what he was asking was completely unreasonable. his answer was, i don't give a f***k, i didn't quote you that price." i explained that i understand that, however, it was his employee that quoted me the price and that a good business owner would stand behind the price quoted by an employee. again, his answer was, "i don't give a f**k and if you want your car back this is the price that you need to pay." i realized that the larry was escalating the situation and that i needed to deescalate the situation as he has become so irate and belligerent. i had no choice but to pay the price that he demanded. i then left and contacted napa headquarters and spoke to matt englat who was very polite and professional! matt explained to me that larry was an independent dealer and that he would contact him to get his side of the story. i began to feel that my side of story was being questioned and or doubted. matt did get back to me later the same day as promised and thankfully, he informed that larry did indeed cooberate my side of the story. larry did admit to the language that he used and the conversation that we had. however, larry was not willing to do anything about the situation. matt then said to me that he couldn't do much about it as larry was an independent dealer. matt continued to say the he would send me a $100 gift card. additionally, matt indicated that most of his complaints are from people looking for something for free and that this situation was unique. furthermore, matt indicated he does not offer people any type of discount and or any other financial compensation for their troubles. however, this situation called for financial compensation. i told matt that this was not about the money and although it was a kind gesture, i did not want the the money. i told matt that i just wanted the wrong made right. unfortunately, nothing further was done. what a horrific experience! i have never experienced such horrible treatment from any business owner. i am surprised that larry is still in business. bottom line is use another merchant or proceed with caution!

This town is where Townline started, and they used to be great when Bob ran it, and they built up quite a business. A few years ago, I bought a tractor from them. They nearly lost the sale because the sales girl didn't know anything. I asked for the sales manager and told him they were about to lose the sale because I could not get any straight or correct answers from the girl. They sent out a knowledgeable guy and we got it done. A month ago, I went there to buy an excavator. The sales staff ignored me as I stood around the showroom awhile. One guy was in his office on the phone, and other had his head buried in his computer. Eventually I left and went outside and toured the new and used inventory myself. I went back in about 20 minutes later and was ignored again. I went to "head buried in computer" man and asked if he was sales. He said he was, and asked me what I wanted to know. I told him I wanted to buy an excavator. He seemed reluctant to help at all. I had to ask him pointedly to show me what he had for used. We went outside, but he knew nothing about his inventory and kept telling me I should look it up on the internet myself. He mentioned a couple times that he didn't "keep all this info in his head". He could not have been more disinterested in selling an expensive excavator. We went back inside after a most dissatisfying conversation about the one used excavator he showed me. I asked about new excavators. Again, he knew nothing and showed absolutely zero interest in selling me one. Instead of telling me anything or offering to show me anything, he went to his rack of pamphlets and tried to find the models I was asking about. It was quite clear he just wanted to get me out the door so he could go back to his computer. By this point, I knew there was no way I'd buy anything from Townline. After a couple minutes of him poking through pamphlets and handing me a couple (to models that were not what I was asking about), I gave up in disgust and left, never to return. I left there and went to United Ag & Turf in Springfield, VT, where the people were interested in selling equipment.
