Consumer beware. After having my vehicle serviced at this shop, my brakes failed shortly afterward. It was one of the most frightening experiences I've ever had. I could have seriously injured myself or innocent people on the road, including pedestrians. The experience left me genuinely traumatized. I reached out to the shop multiple times to express my concerns. I was told they would review the situation and contact me, but after more than three months and several follow-up attempts, I still have not received a response. Based on my personal experience, I felt that my concerns were not taken seriously, and I was left without answers or a resolution. Because of this experience, I lost confidence in the quality of the work and would not return. If you enjoy being scammed, bring your car here! For $50, they will tell you that your car failed inspection because the front and back brake pads, rotors, and calipers all need to be replaced. But guess what? For $2,000 they can do the work for you. I was shocked as I had the back brakes done about three years prior and since I work remotely, the new brakes had about 9,000 miles on them. They also had a laundry list of other "recommended repairs." The tip off for me was when they told me my oil was dirty and it needed to be replaced. I just had my oil replaced less than 1,000 miles ago when they were still Robert's Auto. I declined to have any work done and decided to get a second opinion. My car passed inspection with flying colors and no brake parts needed to be replaced. Perhaps it is because I am young and female, they thought they could coerce me into getting unnecessary work done on my car. If you don't believe me or want additional proof, I recommend reading the Yelp reviews at Auto Care Plus' other locations. I'm not the only customer they have tried to do this to. I'm upset because I loved Robert's as the guys were great and it is close to my house. However, I would rather drive the 20 minutes to another mechanic than be told I need thousands of dollars of unnecessary work. read more

I strongly recommend getting a second quote before committing to repairs here. I was initially quoted $1,000 for a repair that a neighboring mechanic quoted at $600. Even the actual Toyota Dealership--typically the most expensive option--quoted approximately the same as the shops original estimate (including the diagnostic fee, $1,035 from the dealership vs $1,007 from Roberts). When I hesitated, they agreed to match the $600 competitor rate, but the communication was concerning. The staff member on the phone explicitly told me I must have "misheard" the original quote (claiming it was always $600), while the owner later claimed the price drop was an act of "goodwill." Regardless of which version is true, the initial quote was nearly double the market average and higher than the dealer. I appreciate that they ultimately matched the fair market price, but customers should not have to verify quotes against competitors to ensure they aren't being overcharged. On short notice, I took my truck and my wife's car to Roberts Auto Service for the annual state inspection. My truck ended up needing front brakes. Heidi and Nathan at the front office, as well as technicians Dustin and Lucas went above and beyond all expectations to get the work done quickly and efficiently. When I mentioned that I preferred OEM Toyota parts, Nathan personally drove to the nearby Toyota dealership to get them. Last but not least, the price was very reasonable. I am grateful for the courtesy, consideration, service, workmanship, and the value I received for my time and money. I've never been the person to do this kind of thing, but I've got to warn people about Robert's in West Lebanon. I don't know how this place is still in business. Dropped my F350 off in June for tie rods and front end grinding. Tech diagnosed it as front U-joints, shop called later that afternoon claiming wheel bearing, as I had suspected, so wheel bearing it was. Got an approximate quote, told them I needed it back in two days, they told me they'd have it to me the next day. Never heard from them again - dead silence - no text updates, no calls. Called them myself a day later, was told I'd need to get it the next day. Called right before closing the next day, the day I needed to pick it up, after hearing nothing the entire day again, was told I'd need to get it the following morning. Of course, after I had made it abundantly clear every time I had called, and when I had dropped it off, that I needed it this day, and was told every time they'd have it ready for me. Never gave me any update that it wouldn't be ready. Tech rushed and put it back together right at closing because Receptionist at the front desk couldn't do her job. Got charged over 1,000 dollars more than my quote, which obviously the receptionist never called and told me beforehand, and that didn't include the 250 bucks they tried to charge me for rotors they didn't install on my truck. Sent me away with axle joints with play in them, bad axle seals that caused a massive leak when they installed the bearing, and put my hubs in auto mode, so the bearing seized 5 miles away from home - grinding became way worse - hilarious considering the receptionist had said over and over again, "we're just so worried about your safety, since you tow horses and all, we just want to make sure you're safe" - then they ignored me for three days, charged me 4,500 bucks and destroyed my front end. Called the next day, receptionist told me to bring it in Monday and she'd get me a courtesy car. On Monday, she told me to bring it in Wednesday since all her rentals were booked. Tuesday night, she told me to bring it in on Thursday. Because of the last minute change, Thursday ended up not working for us, and we had to push to Friday for an 8am dropoff. At 7:30 am on Friday, while we were actively on the road to drop the truck off, she texted me asking me to bring it in on Tuesday instead, because they had an engine job on the lift. We made this appointment on Wednesday. Third time she had rescheduled. Clearly they didn't want to deal with their mess up. I expressed my disappointment and frustration, and she said she would make it work, bring it in. She asked if I would be dropping it for the day, and I said yes. We dropped it off, and I told her to please call with what they found. She said yes. Heard nothing all day, obviously. Heard nothing all of Monday. Called in the afternoon and she gave me some excuse that they had "taken it on some test drives and put it up on the lift but hadn't found anything". Was pretty convinced they hadn't touched the truck at this point, so drove over on Tuesday morning and found it exactly where I'd parked it on Friday morning, odometer with exact same mileage, my seat position unmoved (I'm 5'2). Laughable. Lied to my face. Emailed management July 1. Ryan called the same day promising a refund and proceeded to do nothing but waste my time for over sixty days with no refund, no resolution - not even a dang credit - to take care of this headache. Called me constantly telling me his personal problems, continuing to promise a refund but doing nothing to actually execute on it, while I shelled out another 3 grand and spent my weekends off fixing the seized bearing and my fried front end thanks to their incompetence. It's been over three months since they destroyed my truck, over two months of dealing with Ryan, and I've yet to see any resolution from Robert's. Stay far away. This place is clearly in the business of scamming people and has no interest in making this right, despite telling me multiple times that they would. Learn from my mistakes. read more

Needed a wheel bearing replacement which usually go around $400-$600. Roberts wanted to charge me $950 for one and $1300 for two... double the average rate. Absolutely ridiculous. Called three more auto repair shops and they said they could do it for around $500. Definitely do not recommend this place, they will try to screw you. If I could give zero stars I would. Do yourself a favor and just go elsewhere. A week after Robert's replaced my brakes, rotors, and a wheel bearing--for which I paid $1700-, my car started making a shrieking sound 3 hours into an 8 hour drive. When I called Robert's, they told me in order for them to do anything about it, I had go to a Napa Auto Care Center. The closest one to me was 40mins away from where I had pulled over. Robert's told me they would call ahead to confirm I could be helped at that Care Center 40mins away. When I arrived there 40mins later, the guy there told me he'd told Robert's he wasn't going to be able to do anything when they'd called him. But Robert's just let me drive 40mins there anyway. So Robert's sent me to a second place 20+mins from that first place. At first, that second team couldn't reproduce the noise. I pressed them to please keep looking since I didn't feel I could just shake off a noise that loud, they drove around again for 30mins while "going hard on the brakes." They then told me it would require $600 in parts to fix. I called Robert's to ask that they cover the cost as either they had clearly missed this when I had brought my car in a week previously or something they did resulted in this damage. They refused and told me it was just bad luck. Bad luck. A week after Robert's replaces my brakes, my car starts shrieking, is reproduced by driving around "going hard in the brakes" and it's just a coincidence? Such a lack of accountability. Ultimately, Robert's made me drive around for over an hour to find a Napa auto Care Center because that was the only way they'd "be able to help make it right," then didn't end up doing anything to make it right at all, and no apology for making me drive all around. I could have gone somewhere else way closer to where I'd initially pulled over. I did not have to drive around for over an hour--adding another hour to go back in the other direction to finish my 8 hour drive and likely more now that this delay is going to make me hit rush hour traffic in NYC--to find another Napa Auto if they were going to do nothing to make this right. This whole experience has simply been awful. Lastly, heads up that they just had an "ownership change" so if you brought your car there before the change, they don't have records of it so they won't honor the Napa Auto brakes warranty even if you have a receipt of the work done if they were replaced under the previous ownership. read more

I stopped in at Robert's Auto to schedule an appointment for my car to get checked out. It was a Friday afternoon, and Joe scheduled me for early the next week. I dropped off my car, thinking that I was going to get an estimate and an oil change. They have a great system that notifies you through every process of the service. When they were done, I got a notification And went back to the garage. I spoke with Cooper who let me know what needed to be done and said that they could order the parts and do it that day! I got the notification that my car was ready a few hours later. Cooper explained me that I really needed to get new tires and That I could get them somewhere else, and they would put them on. And Ray, who is just about to head out on lunch, promptly offered to fix a rattle on a heat shield that I had mentioned at pickup. And he did it right then! I left the garage very happy with my experience there. I actually went and bought a set of tires and went back to the garage that afternoon. They had no problem at all getting those tires on, balanced and aligned that same day. They even let me drive my daughter home and drop her off first so she didn't have to wait at the garage with me! The staff at Robert's Auto is excellent. They are friendly and informative. I would highly recommend them for auto service and repair. read more

My sons car was not running right on the way to Boston at night so we called AAA and the car was towed to Roberts. They had said it was the O2 sensor and also there was no antifreeze due to a hole in the radiator. Knowing my way around cars I was concerned about the head gasket from overheating.They said they performed diagnostics on the car and it needed the O2 sensor, radiator and thermostat. Being we where a few hours away you have to trust they are doing the right thing so told them to go ahead with the work. After the work was done they called and said it needs a new motor for $8,000. They said they had to do the work before they could diagnose the car properly, I disagree. So the bill was $1301.00 I then called to discuss the bill further since as it was the car is no good and why they charge 100%-200% markup on parts! They will say they have a useless warranty. They wound up taking $271 off for the O2 sensor but ($86 Thermostat and gasket)($205 O2 sensor)($447 Radiator) Is a bit much for parts only. They should start buying from Oreillys parts next door, prices are much better when I called to price out. I do not write many reviews but this one burned me a bit. Brought my Truck to them two separate times approx. 4 months apart with the same problem. Power steering was groaning and stiff. The first time it worked for about 3 months got it back in and they said it was a different line. So payed for bothered to get replaced over $400 total. And here I am with my truck doing the same thing. I'm not saying more problems could've arose but it appears they throw band aids at it until the whole thing fails. Looking back I'd probably go to someone who looks for the actual problem. Customer service was poor as well. Tried telling me it wasn't them who fixed it only could find my records by my first name. Been taking my cars to Roberts Auto for 5+ years, they are the real deal. Family owned for multiple generations and a pillar of the community. They are completely trustworthy and will not try to up-sell you: if they make a recommendation you can be sure it is the right thing to do. There is a reason they have been in business for so long and it may take are few weeks to get an appointment... people who live here know where to find the best service! They have been very skilled at keeping my 30+ year old vehicles humming along with no complaints. My one gripe is that they tend to use aftermarket parts, but if you ask for OE they'll be happy to order them from the dealer for you. read more

I was driving up route 91 when my car broke down hours from home and far from my destination. I had my car towed here on the recommendation of a local. Because they also rent cars (at very reasonable rates -30$ a day) I was able to leave my car and continue on my trip. They fixed my car and I picked it up on the way home. I had to write after seeing that one negative review. My experience with Roberts, going on 5 years now, could not be more different. I am NOT a car person, and have had lots bad experiences with mechanics in the past, who have been rude, dismissive (esp. to me as a woman), or just left me with a feeling that maybe I was being taken advantage of. I was towed to Roberts with a dead battery nearly 5 years ago, and from day one the experience has been great. They are easy-going, pleasant, and have gone out of their way to make me know that they're being fair. When there have been big issues with my (old) car, they've brought me back into the bay to show me exactly what is going on under the hood. I've learned a thing or two about cars in the process! I send friends to Roberts regularly. They are a good and honest shop. read more

They cannot accomplish the simplest job. Bought new tires from them 3 years ago, and they mounted them and balanced them. The car was wobbling on the highway, so I bring it back, they check the balance, but see nothing wrong with it. Naturally, my car still wobbles on the highway. I take it to Midas and they balance the tires correctly (for a charge, naturally), and law and behold, smooth riding. Today, I notice a defect (bump) on the side of one of those tires, I ask them politely about a warranty and was given the worst attitude. The loud-mouthed mechanic barked at me that I must have hit something and that even if there was a warranty, it wouldn't cover it. Then kept on going and said how I got more out of my tires than most people, who apparently only get 2 seasons, and that it's time to change them all. At that point, I knew it was complete BS or incompetence, pick one, as tire are as good as the thread that's left on them, not the number of years (within reason), and mine were still good. Went to Midas again, and turns out my tires are over 80% good, just had to replace that one, and I was on my way. Worst car service experience in the Upper Valley. read more

I thought my AC compressor was shot and assumed it was going to cost a grand or so but the mechanics at Robert's properly diagnosed the real problem (bad air intake controller) and it only required cleaning corrosion off the part for proper function which only cost a couple hundred. Seems like a really honest place with low labor rate and knowledgable staff. read more

I got a non-transparent quote from a dealer-based repair shop for $400 with an ominous warning about additional costs. I called Roberts and got a transparent quote on parts and labor costs at $300.
