We went there on Saturday 10-15-22 about 5:15. We had to ask the server to move us cause she told me that there was no way to turn off the ceiling fan that was above us. She did move us but that became worst cause it wasn't to far from the a/c in the ceiling. So, we ordered the family style dinner for three. The food is good but once you get your food on your plate the first time to eat the food got so cold there wasn't no way you would eat anymore from the bowls of food on the table cause they were cold. No one was full but the cold food wasn't appealing. The restaurant temp was 74. I told the older lady when we paid the bill the restaurant was to cold and she told me this. That front area is hot and that is why the restaurant is cold. Sorry that is BS cause the front area wasn't hot at all. We was dressed in t-shirts and long pants. Enjoyed the menu selections. Too hungry to remember to take pictures. The bacon bigger was delicious, the BLT was decent, and my son enjoyed the turkey sandwich. Everything about this place is neat. The atmosphere (Amish/Mennonite) is fun, the fact that this restaurant is in a tiny little town is awesome and the food is great. We came for lunch with a large party (9) and they worked with us to get seated as quickly as possible. As soon as we were sat our drink orders were taken. We started with bread and cinnamon butter. That didn't last long because it was delicious. I had the country fried steak with mashed potatoes and potato salad as my main dish. Each item was delicious and handcrafted. Finally, we finished the meal with an assortment of pies and cinnamon rolls. Our cinnamon rolls had just come out of the oven and were both big and excellent. Negative ten stars. If I could give a negative, I would. The meat was inedible and the wait staff and hostess were far below subpar. The bison burgers we ordered were so rank we had to ask the waitress to remove it from the table because the smell alone was horrid. One bison burger was so raw the meat was red and stringy, yet. The other had a putrid smell. The waitress made no attempt to ask why the meat was being returned. And when we checked out, and went up to pay our bill, we told the hostess that the meal was terrible and the meat was raw and inedible. The only thing she asked was did you tell the waiter. She offered no apology and did not inquire further. And, we were still charged 50 bucks for the meal. I would never recommend anyone go here. And I know, we will never return. read more

Service is polite, but in both of our recent visits, repeated requests for hot sauce and other condiments were never delivered, despite the seeing the bottles sitting at the wait station. Yummy! I had steak and eggs. The steak was perfect! I wish I wasn't so far from home or spending more time here. I would eat the steak every single day for every meal! My husband and I usually stop here with my parents en route from the Wichita airport back up to the Salina area when we come out for visits. In seventh grade, I rode a school bus through Yoder, every day to and from school. It's a quiet Amish community. It's good solid, mid-Western food for a great price. The pies are what you wish your grandma could bake for you every day. If you're in the Hutchinson area, it's worth a drive out to Yoder to eat here. read more

We visit here with my in-laws when we come up to see them from Texas. We usually end up taking some of their great pies and oh sooo good and huge cinnaman rolls ($1.99 for a salad plate sized one).... The food is good homecooking like at grandma's house. This trip we of course remembering those cinnamon rolls we picked up a 2 pack as we checked out! Got home that evening we got our cinnamon rolls- they were hard all way through, like stale bread, ugh, so heated little piece up in microwave, didn't help to much... I looked on the package for a date of best used by- nothing no where! So maybe it was way passed the time of best used by So DISSAPOINTING!!!, the recipe may have change too I dont know. One of my favorites! Everything is always excellent. If you are craving down home comfort food, then this is your place. The fried green beans with ranch are to die for, as is the grilled chicken breast. The marinade for the chicken makes it so tender you can cut it with your fork and its melt in the mouth delicious. They also serve family style meals beginning with salads for all and your choice of meat/meats. In addition to that, your party is served bowls of mashed potatoes and other vegetables that are shared and passed around, as well as homemade bread and beverages. These meals are priced per person, depending on what meat/meats are chosen. They also offer various sandwiches and some seafood choices. Of course the pies are the highlight of the meal. Pies are sold by the slice or as whole pies. They always have numerous varieties to choose from including cream pies and fruit pies. They also sell enormous cinnamon rolls in the display case at the front near the register. I've never tried them myself, but they look amazing and are large enough to nearly feed the entire family. The service is very good as well and they have a very nice gift shop where they sell all kinds of things including Amish made baked and canned goods. As this is in Yoder, KS, you will surely see the Amish influence and some of the waitresses are Amish. This restaurant is hard to review. I was tired of my healthy home cooking in these days of covid, and I was passing through, so I decided to give it a try. They have an online menu, and I called from the parking lot to place a to-go order. It was easy to order and my pie questions were answered quickly. The front staff were quick, friendly, and polite. All were wearing masks, staff and customers. It was left to customers to keep distance, and the line to the register was voluntarily spread out. There was hand sanitizer at the register for communal pen use.They did forget a second roll. We had the chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and green beans. It all hit the spot, good comfort food, but nothing to "wow" over. Same for the pies. Good enough, but not worth raving about. Don't forget to pick up some of their brochures to learn more about the Amish lifestyle. So I ordered the roast beef. Poorly executed. The sandwich came out covered by a large lettuce, so the bread was quite soggy, though they had made the effort to toast it. Meat was not dry, but pretty tasteless. Fried chicken- Good, but portions were small. Fries and onion rings. Fried well. Baked beans. likely the best thing I ate. Not too sweet, though I would've liked to see some meat in there. Bread with cinnamon butter. Bread was so fresh and soft. Enjoyable. Strawberry pie. Good, but not enough to be highlighted. I came here with my family, including two young children and a waitress there (I believe her name was Maria) was extremely rude. She sighed and rolled her eyes when my husband changed what he was going to get when he ordered. She didn't set our plates down nicely and was extremely passive aggressive with all of her movements and body language. She mumbled almost sarcastically when speaking to us and never made eye contact. I have no clue why she was so rude towards us, especially in front of our children. Great place regardless of the service from Maria. Highly advise the management to train her better and have her learn some manners. I won't be coming here again. read more

I hadn't been here since before texting was a thing, but decided to swing in for what I remembered being the best chicken fried steak in the entire country. When it finally arrived, it looked like it was microwave fresh fare from the freezer isle. Just a tiny slab of soggy meat drown in some gravy. Nothing else on the plate. It tasted fine, but it is not what I remember getting here. The presentation was a disappointment. I also ordered mashed potatoes, but received a saucer of gravy instead. When the taters arrived, however, they were delightful. Obviously home made and done to perfection. I wish I could say the same for the salad. If I wanted to dump a bag of Dole greens into a bowl, I could have done so at home for much less coin. Service was fantastic! The steak was perfectly cooked and tender enough to cut with just a fork. The gravy was delicious. The potatoes and green beans were the perfect side dishes but weren't anything special. I finished the meal with a slice of peach pie. It was good pie but not as good as my friend's coconut-chocolate deliciousness. If I could do dessert again I'd go crazy with the pie choice, and that's my recommendation to you. My sister had the fried chicken, and I had the chicken fried steak and both were delicious. The portions are large so we each only ate half of our dinner so we could save room for their fabulous pie. The peanut butter pie is to die for! I have had the same pie down in Yoders in Sarasota Florida. There is a gift shop attached to the restaurant as well. Having spent early years in Hutch, I'd always thought of this as THE place to get breakfast in that area. Once upon a time, yeah, but no more. My partner and I got forgettable, lukewarm breakfasts of a kind that just says "we don't care." It has never really had an Amish vibe except for the buggy parking area and sight of occasional Amishmen and Amishwomen around the area (naturally, as Yoder is an Old Order Amish community where half the population is named Unruh, or Schrock, or Yoder). I can't speak to lunch and dinner, but my guess is that a place like this that is slacking on breakfast will not suddenly gain strength later in the day. I won't be getting up early and making a special trip out here any time soon. read more
