I absolutely love supporting this organization and enjoy visiting their stores because they are the place to go for incredible vintage finds and one-of-a-kind treasures. I stopped by on a Sunday morning and there was a small line waiting to get in. The darling gal that opened the door greeted us with a cheerful "Hello." She was fabulous - walking around enthusiastically telling customers, "That is perfect for you" in Spanish. The excitement was definitely in the air because I happened to overhear one gal's phone conversation. She said, "My mom kept telling me to come were to find a jacket for my trip. I finally said o.k. so she would leave me alone and guess what? I found the perfect jacket and it's my size! I hate it when my mom is right." I had to laugh. Her mom is right though, this store has a vast selection of clothing, jewelry, accessories, furniture, houseware, and other items. Most shoes & clothing are priced at $10. Of course, I fell in love with a stunning Roberto Cavalli dress. Unfortunately, it was $250. I also saw a pair of beautiful Louboutins for $45 but they weren't my size. However, I did score a great little black dress and a pair of sexy L.A.M.B. heels for $10 each. Perfect date night outfit! Now I just need to find a date. LOL!

Out of the Closet as a whole was founded in the early 90s dedicated to AHF wellness, funding and awareness for HIV prevention, stigma erasure, and bridging the gaps in communities. No longer having locations in the San Fernando Valley (North Hollywood or Tarzana), this is becoming and instant favorite of my friend Shaun and I's who went on a thrifting excursion #ThriftItThursday #ThriftItAndGiftIt #ThriftToSupport We didn't find exactly what we were looking for, however did discover a lot of great gems and things we hope to return for. From 2nd hand clothing, shoes and accessories to great furniture, fixtures/lighting, entertainment and books in various nooks. Considering the condition of most items, I'd say the pricing is fair, but definitely more than most smaller chain and stand-alone thrift stores. The service is great, and they definitely know how to handle a rush or a long line. Some things have price tags and items like shoes might have pricing in washable marker. Donation Center is in the back end with a entrance you can drive up in on the left side to the rear. You can also access the entrance in the far back left side of the store. Great customer service, lots of fun finds! They actually had some boots in my size and a 13 at a thrift store is no easy find! Hearing her talk about her dreams and then watching them come true has been such a special experience. She's grown so much as a business owner and is now even helping interns start their own businesses or careers in music, which is incredible. Maribel is kind, supportive, and communicates really well. Today there was a mentally ill young lady being disrespectful, shouting n-word and cursing at the staff and her father who had zero control over her and literally creating a potentially untenable situation. Nova and 2 other Good Will employees apologized to everyone for this girls behavior which is something her father should have done and didn't. The Good Will employees guided her to the front of the store amid a barage of threats and cursing, to ring up her items which got her out of the store faster. But not before the girl hit her father in the face with a purse he just bought for her, while threatening to stab him in the eye later. As a customer it was very uncomfortable to experience this however the kindness and quick actions of the employees kept me from leaving without purchasing my items.

First off this place is huge! There's so much to browse through, and most sections are fairly well organized, though a few shelves and aisles looked pretty picked over and messy, which I mostly avoided. Still, the selection here is impressive. They carry everything from furniture, purses, shoes, and clothing to appliances, books, CDs, VHS tapes, DVDs, jewelry, electronics, vinyl records, dishes, and toys. My brother-in-law and I spent some time in the toy section and we both actually ended up leaving with some teddy bears. His was only $3, and when he looked it up in the store it was worth up to $70--he was so excited about that find! Overall my personal experience was very pleasant and the customer service I received was great. Most employees seemed friendly and helpful. I did notice a slightly awkward interaction between an older female employee and another customer browsing near the VHS/DVD and jewelry counter. The employee called out "next," which made it seem like she thought the customer was ready to check out. When the customer didn't respond right away, the employee called out louder to get her attention kinda sounded annoyed. The customer looked a little caught off guard and replied that she was just browsing before continuing to look around. It was a bit of an odd moment, but when that same employee ended up checking us out, everything went smoothly and we had no issues. Overall it was a fun thrifting trip and I'd definitely come back again. Next time I want to spend more time exploring the clothing section!
