When the kids…read morewere little years back, the original seat fabric got all stained and nasty with milk, etc. We went to an undisclosed interior design place and replaced the fabric with marine grade vinyl and thick padding. The result was horrendous. The vinyl was tucked, unprofessionally with big seams/creases at the corners, like a do it yourself job. We didn't care at the time - as long as it held up for the next 10 years, we were good. Come 2020 and that vinyl is getting annoying. Our butts stick to them, the chairs noticeably look bad relative to the rest of our furnishing, and most importantly, the kids aren't leaving have half their food on the seats. Santa Barbara Design Center has been here for a while and I stopped in randomly on the way to Home Improvement. I was introduced to Michael, a knowledgeable and personable chap. I showed him an online picture of the original chair, and that I wanted to restore the seat to its original, sleek, sculptural and refined splendor. He said no problem, provided a couple of premium quality fabric books, and we were on our way. We picked out the fabric and brought the chairs in. Michael commented "my god, who did this work?" 50% down and ten days later, chairs were done, with a message "come down and make sure you are happy." My wife and I looked, were pleased - Michael responded with "here's something that bothers me, I want you to see..." He flipped the chair over and on the bottom, the seat fabric was stapled just outside of the underside frame. You wouldn't see it normally, but from a distance or looking down from the side, you might. Immediately we thought the same thing, yeah, that's not ideal. He said it shouldn't be done like this, let me redo it for you, no charge. His upholsterer redid it, and boy those 8 chairs look great, almost better than the original! The seats came out sleek and wonderfully curved over the underlying pad. The fabric is comfortable, soft and elegant - couldn't be happier. The interior of SBDC fills a warehouse space and contains just about everything; furniture, rugs, lamps, etc. The staff were COVID compliant, and Michael was a dream to work with. He has an excellent eye for detail, is easy to work with, and is an honest broker; I wish we had more projects for him!

In that it's a lot of the same looking stuff in each section and not a lot of variety. Also, the customer service is atrocious. Others have mentioned her, but yes, there is usually a woman running the front now that is so cold, dry, and void of any personality or sense of even basic decent customer service that it immediately makes for very odd vibes. It goes beyond being matter of fact and crosses over into weird. Shame, this place used to have a bit of variety, and personality!

Once we went in, we noticed they had a whole section of apparel. The apparel here was way cheaper than REI. We ended up spending half an hour in the apparel section, when originally we wanted to just get the horse mats and leave. Services are friendly here, while in the apparel section a lady asked if we needed help and try to help me find sizes for overalls, but after trying it on in the dressing room I realized it was a man's fitting and not a woman's fit (women have wider hips and it also had a zipper in the front crotch for guys to pee eaiser...). The price for the overalls here were under $20, for a non- Carhartt brand. I also found some tights with pockets for a lot cheaper than REI. We also are able to buy electrical outlet and electrical outlet covers for the room I was going to put my horse mats in. And after buying our mats, the guy who was helping us load it into our car offered to deliver it to our house because it didn't look like it was going to fit in my wife's prius. Delivery was $49.99, a lot cheaper than online and the guy who delivered it helped to load it to our house. The guy who delivered the mats informed me that sometimes the website doesn't deliver to certain addresses in Santa Barbara, but he was the delivery guy. Just a heads up if you ever want some items delivered, it's better to let them know when you're purchasing the items otherwise they'll have to refund you your purchase and then charge you again with the delivery fee so its on the same receipt. If you are trying to make a home gym, I recommend getting the horse mats here because it's cheaper than getting the gym mats from other places.

Nobody wants to get educated on what baby chicks have been delivered. Nobody wants to tell the customers over the phone. I am tired of this behavior and am not going to shop in your stores if this continues. Phone etiquette is extremely important to keep your clientele. I'm not going to go to a store that does not want to take care of their customers and I'm sure you don't either. So please educate your employees on phone etiquette. They need to know their product. Shouldn't there be a list next to the phone? Thats just common sense.
