Ms. Linda, the Executive Director of the historical society, gave my classmates and I a tour of the house and it was amazing (and a workout). The 'museum' is in a maze like room with maybe one out of every 5-10 objects actually having any energy and that is probably being generous. The items we were able to see and hear about were interesting and neat to see, but we could have read about them in a lit room just as easily and enjoyed the experience a bit more. If we would have driven to Gettysburg just for the museum I would have been severely disappointed, however just at the end of the day as a final stop before leaving it wasn't a total flop.

There are a lot of areas that have fabric that retain moisture/dirt like the giant bed (plush), bean bag chairs, and hammocks. Coming off a fresh pandemic, it didn't give the best feeling to "interact" with something like that. Conclusion: I think the concept is cute and the art is unique. The exhibit itself makes for a cute little outing. I'm just a bit more wishful as far as care/maintenance goes. I wouldn't describe myself as a germaphobe, but even so I didn't feel great about it.

It was way too cold to go outside, but this museum is next to a lake in a park area that would admit of some walking during the summer. Despite the limited selection, I found a compelling suite of Americana and a nice atrium and event space in the middle of the museum. There were some pieces worthy of thought, and I rather wished I'd been in to see the visiting exhibition. Having said that, for a community the size of Hagerstown to have a building that looks this nice, is free, and has quality art is a great resource.

The museum has a good variety of exhibitions for visitors to enjoy as well as a permanent collection of art pieces. The Museum also exhibits the art of local students each year, which is always a treat. It's free to the public (donations are happily accepted) and visitors are greeted by the friendly staff as soon as they enter.
