I would give this place 2.5/5. I ordered a Buddha Bowl, but nearly the entire dish was rice and barely had any vegetables. One of the employees even had to ask the cook if he included a certain vegetable that I requested because you couldn't even tell from how little they added. On top of that, it was extremely oily/greasy. I just picked out and ate the chicken and had to order a separate salad instead, but the salad was good at least. Aside from the food, the place itself wasn't too great. There were a bunch of flies flying around and it was probably because they have an open concept juice bar where they handle some food orders. They consider themselves a healthy restaurant. As a nutritionist items with gluten, soy, and loaded in sugar are not healthy. I came to this restaurant and there was no gluten free bun option for burgers. I checked the menu out on Yelp before stopping by and there were GF tortillas for the wraps but when I arrived this was a mistake on the menu. I'd call that false advertising to get me into the store. Super expensive. I just moved from Cali. In Cali my burgers came with a side for $11 and my acai bowl cost $7 no matter where I went not almost $12. Humongous rip off and lack of quality. Update: Within 2 hours of writing this review I received a compliment from Pablo the General Manager of the store, which BTW was not a compliment. He informed me that because they don't have wraps at the moment (which we were told they don't have them at all on our visit) that I was abusing social media with my review. His response to my comment about California prices were "Good for you!" His entire compliment to me was very condescending. As a manager you should be about customer service and not harass your customers on Yelp when you don't agree with their Yelp review. If healthy is what you're looking for, then this is definitely the spot for you. There are plentiful healthy food options here for you to choose from. I ordered the tuna poke bowl and it was delicious and a huge portion. Came to be about $20 dollars after taxes and tip. It was made with quinoa and greens rather than the traditional white rice that's used in poke bowls. So it makes you feel better about yourself when eating it. Lol They also have a good juice and smoothie selection for you to choose from. This location is on Alton road and not too far from Lincoln road and does have a private parking lot, however, spots are kind of limited. Inside it's a very casual atmosphere and it's not uncommon to see people in shorts and gym clothing walking in and out of this location. Came to learn that they add a service charge for customers who eat in. Believe it was 10%. I don't think I it's right to charge a service charge at places where you have to order at the counter and there is no ongoing table service. I placed an order inside for to-go not thinking too much about it since I've done it before. This time I watched them work behind the counter and it was PAINFUL. Kale - Yeah! Carrot Express is a small, yet huge menu of goodness and fresh tastes. After our third visit and having something totally different, we are now hooked. You come in and see a smiling face and very ample table and counter space. A menu that is nice and legible and has something for meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans too. My favorite so far is the La Bomba wrap which grilled once they stuff it with mushroom, arugula, spinach, hummus, tomatoes, and in my case, zero fat tuna. The prices are very modest for the freshness you will taste (about $10 per wrap) and that is a great deal anywhere, let alone mid, to south beach area.
