Came across this restaurant on TikTok and knew I had to give this place a visit. 1st day in Miami and I made my way over for lunch. Restaurant was busy with mostly locals and a few tourists as it was a Thursday afternoon . I already knew what my heart was set on so I went with the Oxtail Stew and a cup of Soursop Juice. The oxtails were so tender and flavorful omg I was in heaven. The soursop juice was nice and refreshing. I didn't see the bar menu that listed homemade sangria until after I finish eating. That only means that I have to pay another visit before I leave. The waitress was very nice and attentive. The restaurant itself was nothing fancy. A simple old bar and plenty of space for the dining area.
When looking for an authentic Cubano sandwich, Puerto Sagua was a repeat recommendation. While I've never had another Cubano before, I will say it was delicious. This is the place for a local, no frills Cuban diner experience and a delicious one at that! It is popular with locals and tourists alike. The service was friendly, prompt and efficient. He had the Cubano and I had the yellow rice and chicken. I wish I had a place to store leftovers because the chicken and rice portion was HUGE! More than I could eat but I wish I could have devoured it all because it was delicious. I especially enjoyed the caramelized plantains it was served with. Definitely a spot to try if you're in South Beach.

We were seated right away and service throughout the meal was great. Attentive and friendly without feeling rushed. I ordered the vaca frita and it was delicious. Definitely my favorite dish of the night. Perfectly seasoned, crispy, and full of flavor. We also tried the breaded chicken. It was just okay. The breading kept falling apart which wasn't ideal, but the flavor itself was decent. They start you off with complimentary bread that comes out warm and tasty, which is always a nice touch. Overall, a solid Cuban spot in a busy beach area. I'd definitely come back for the vaca frita alone.
Delicious! Love the Cuban sandwich here, instead of the pressed style, this has a flaky airy crispy bread. Love it, I had the larger size and got full after it. Server is also quite friendly, she gave decent recommendations. Looking forward to try their oxtail next time when I come back! :) The hot sauce gives a light kick to spice up things and they both are yummy. Better than the scammy places with dry small sandwich in Ocean Drive, this was way better! Can't wait to try their other dishes too
Puerto Sagua was the perfect place on the beach for a huge group last second. We were a group of 12 looking to have some Cuban food. While my fave Cuban restaurants are more mainland, this was a great spot on the beach. I would rate the actual food more like 3 stars, but the service was so incredible that it gets an extra star for me. I called about an hour ahead on new year's day to see if they had room for our group for dinner and they did. They gave us a huge table at the center of the restaurant. Our server was so funny and sweet. He allowed our party to practice their Spanish with him and it was really kind. We ordered a variety of things. Two people in our party wanted the seafood paella. Our server double checked with the chef to see if they were able to make it. It was a 45 minute wait for the dish, but our group did not mind. We told our server to bring out the food as it was ready. I ordered the ham croquettes (a must for me when in Miami), the roasted chicken, and flan. The food was just ok for me. A lot of my friends kept saying how much they loved their dishes though! I think I am just pickier with Cuban food. Overall, I adored the vibe and service. it was a fantastic and easy pick for a group our size. Being able to call to make a reservation made all the difference.
The atmosphere and decor of this no-frills diner sends you forty years into the past, but in a way that feels classic instead of outdated. This is traditional diner food with some Cuban flair. I've had these same pancakes and sausage links in a million diners before, but in a way that tastes like it really was made just for me. The Cuban coffee is definitely a highlight. Would I go out of my way to eat here again? Probably not. But it was the perfect place to grab some breakfast after a sunrise run down the boardwalk, and for that I'm happy I stopped by.

I can't remember the last time I had Cuban food but Puerto Sagua seemed to be an authentic place. We came for lunch and ordered a Mamey batido and mango juice. They both tasted fresh and were really good. For food, I got the Pollo Asado (grilled chicken) and my partner got Ropa Vieja (shredded beef). The piece of chicken was huge and I really liked it came with black beans, rice, and plantains. I tried my friend's beef dish as well which was quite tender and flavorful. It's a casual restaurant with friendly staff. The service was quick and fruit juices and food were delicious.
While visiting Miami Beach for a couple of days I sought out some of the towns more legitimate Cuban fare. Puerto Sagua in South Beach was just the place. This is a no frills, comfort food diner-like establishment in business since 1962. I considered it a good sign that a local Miami Beach cop was having lunch inside. While the menu was vast and impressive, I elected to order one of the more ubiquitous South Florida dishes, the Cuban Sandwich. Or as it's called here, the "Sandwich Cubano". Available in either medium or large sizes, I ordered the medium and it was just right. A traditional Cuban sandwich is a pressed, toasted sandwich featuring Cuban bread, roast pork, ham, swiss cheese, pickles and yellow mustard. The sandwich here was excellent! This Cubano was clearly a more traditional, refined version with fewer ingredients, but with bold, balanced flavors. Service was very homey and genuine. Seems like family that has been working here for many years. Highly recommended.
I wanted to love this place but it kinda fell short for us. It's a smaller place and simple inside. Service was good but the food was just ok. I got a chicken salad and the portion was kinda small with barely any onion and no cheese, lettuce and tomato only. Which was fine but I'm used to other Cuban salads I guess. The dressing was left on the table and was just alright. My husband got piccadillo which tasted pretty good but was also a small portion. It did include sweet plantains and black beans (which I think was more like black bean soup) and rice. Just kind of a lot for the portions at $20 for the salad (which was the daily special price and is usually $23 I believe) and $25 for the picadillo. It is South Beach though so what do you expect but in my opinion there are definitely better places, sadly.

Not what I expected, but not bad! The food had good flavor. The ambiance is diner style so it looks outdated on the inside. The service was not the best, but that's okay. The menu was more pricey than expected which was a bit disappointing. A lot of items were around $20 and the portions weren't huge. You do get complimentary bread! Let me tell you a story of a place I looked forward to revisiting for about a year just to have my heart broken. First I will tell you the good. The food here is authentic and delicious. Besides the fried plantain stuffed with shrimp and the tostones we had the Vaca Frita with rice and black beans. The Vaca, rice and beans were perfectly seasoned and delicious. It smelled so good I couldn't take a picture! Now a couple of things that are not great. The area has a serious parking availability and price problem, so account for that, there is a parking garage close but the prices change a lot. The service was very... dry, seemed in a bad mood, employed high pressure selling tactics and was visibly unhappy when we didn't roll with it. The place had the door open and the AC seemed to not be working in Miami's heat that is not great, to boot the drinks were very expensive. The price of the food was offensively high. The pictured tostones (green plantains) were more than 8 dollars. And the few tiny srimp stuffed plantain was more than 11 dollars. The Fried Beef (Vaca frita was reasonably priced at just over $20 considering how expensive beef has gotten. All in all this place serve the real Item when it comes to Cuban food. But it has turned from the beloved family place our elders and we loved back in the day. To a more tourist money geared place. At least that's how we felt when we left. We will be seeking a different spot for our next year "Miami long weekend food run". read more

A Cuban comfort food classic in the South Beach area! This restaurant has been around for a hot minute. I used to visit before moving to Miami and the food is always consistent. They offer classic Cuban dishes like Cuban sandwiches and ropa vieja. I got the piccadillo which was very good and came with a side of rice, beans and plantains. Highly recommend! Food came out really quickly and there's a lot of tables inside the restaurant, first come first serve basis. Really enjoyed the plantains, beans, rice, and ground beef / pork dishes. Highlight was the empanada! Recommend beef or chicken. read more
This place doesn't hide it- it's a diner with Cuban food and old school flare. We've opted to visit Puerto Sagua on multiple occasions and its consistency is king! I would highly recommend stopping in for breakfast with no frills service, Cuban coffee, and a large menu of items. Tried a local favorite and was not impressed. Went with the Cuban sandwich and it was nothing special. Bread was excellent but the meats were just lunch meat Quaility. Service was slow even though it was empty and plenty of servers. Our water and iced tea glasses were left empty for 15 minutes. It was my first time visiting Miami, and I was looking forward to trying authentic Cuban food. My friends and I decided to try this place because it had good reviews and the prices seemed fair, especially compared to a lot of other restaurants around the South beach area. They brought complementary fresh bread to the table. It was warm, soft, and very buttery! We also ordered the ham and cheese croquettes for the table which were decent. For the main, I ordered the roasted chicken which was a special for the day, and it included rice, black beans, and maduros. They gave the option of white or dark meat and I chose the dark. I asked if grilled onions could be added on top, and they did without charging extra. I appreciated that. Unfortunately, the chicken didn't deliver in the way I hoped. It was tender, but lacked flavor. I wish it came with a sauce. I've personally had better Cuban roasted chicken in LA, but I think that's because it's topped with a garlic sauce. The rice, beans, and maduros were good. For the price (especially with it being the daily special), authentic vibe, and variety of Cuban dishes, I would give it another try if I'm back in Miami. read more

This is my favorite Cuban restaurant in Miami and a must-visit every time that I am in town. It is a place that attracts locals and tourists alike, and for valid reasons. The food is always fresh, tastes great, and the service is on point. Their prices are reasonable and the portions are always very generous. Also, the garlicky bread served before the meal is very addictive! I usually get the shrimp and green sauce, but this time I decided to try one of the daily specials: pernil with yucca and moro (white rice and black beans) rice. This time didn't disappoint. The pernil was very tender and the accompaniments tasted great as well. Of course, I will be back since I have been coming here every time I've been to Miami. read more

Very iconic old school Cuban restaurant in the heart of south beach. It's likely very little has changed since the restaurant was originally founded. Started with some cortaditos ended with flan. In between there were a few Cuban sandwhiches a few ham croquettes as well as a chicken with rice, beans and plantains. Let me tell you the beans were surprisingly good. Perfectly seasoned. I also liked the hot sauce. Sit outside to get some solid people watching. read more

This was recommended by a neighbor who visits Miami frequently. I love the idea that there is a long-standing establishment that has survived many decades in a very touristy/pricey region of Miami. The interior was clean and looked like it had been unchanged over decades. Our server was very friendly and food came out quickly. My wife had a shrimp omelette and it was bland. My son had pancake and eggs and it was typical. My daughter's grilled chicken was very good and she loved it. My ropa vieja was delicious, as other Yelp reviews mentioned. Potato ball was ok, but nowhere near as good as the ones from Porto's back home. The bill was higher than expected and I'm guessing they include the tip (aka "service fee") in the bill. If so, then I tipped twice. Also, they had a 4% surcharge for using credit card. Overall, it's a nostalgic place to visit and I'm glad we went. My advice would be stick to traditional Cuban offerings like ropa vieja, ox-tail soup, etc... read more
This place is great! Came here with three kids, got a table right away. Atmosphere is casual and the servers were all super friendly and sweet with my kids. Our food came super fast, the kids' within just a few minutes and mine/husband's in like 5-10min. Both my husband's oxtail stew and my pork shoulder were super flavorful. My kids all shared a chicken/rice dish and my 4.5 year old liked the beans and rice so much he started eating off my plate. Finished the meal with an affogato and rice pudding, and my husband had the bread pudding. We would definitely come back. read more

I was eating GOOD good So boom--me and Mr. Tinder pulled up to this OG Cuban spot, Puerto Sagua, been around forever, real Miami vibes. You can sit at the bar like you in a novela or hit a table and chill. Super relaxed, come as you are... chancletas, sundress, whatever--nadie te juzga. The staff?? Baby... SWEET. Like abuela energy with customer service Now let's talk comida: I got ropa vieja with rice, black beans & maduros Mr. Tinder got bistec palomilla with rice & beans We shared an avocado salad (fresh fresh, okayyy) Hubby, Mr. Tinder, got a beer and I had water porque... balance Everything had FLAVOR. Like... sazón on point. No complaints there. BUT... aquí viene el chisme... Total: $74.85 For rice, beans, steak, ropa vieja y agüita de la llave??!! I said EXCUSE ME?? Miami said "welcome, mami" Now don't get me wrong--this is South Beach, so I get it... pero my Jersey/New York heart was like "we could eat like kings for this!" Bonus points: looks dog-friendly (I saw a Doberman just vibing inside like he paid rent) So here's the verdict: 4/5 Tía Loca heads Would've been a 5 pero... my bank account said "relax, reina." Came back almost two years later and we basically chose our hotel with intentions to walk here for our meals . We were thrilled the staff and service was still exceptional, the quality remained the same; however, dang, their prices have skyrocketed! We felt limited to stay with the specials bc the cost of other entrees felt too high. I will say, we tried and failed to find any comparable coffee to this place - had a down the best coffee in Miami! We love you all and can't wait to return again! read more
