Well. At first I was going to say No. I would not recommend this location. I believe in giving people second chances. I've given this location numerous chances. The customer service from the management end is not good at all. The employees that work under the management however are trying and can only do what they can. I personally have had soooo many things that were missed priced with incorrect signage only to be humiliated by management saying well that's the price even though the sign clearly shows differently. But I continue to suck it up. They never do anything to make the customer happy and the poor employees are embarrassed. But my complaint now is 2 days in a row now I have purchased apples only to get home and find them rotten inside. I bring them back and nothing is done about it. Except make me feel bad for bringing it to their attention. Like I'm the bad guy. I shop here all the time because it's in my neighborhood. Fred Meyer has excellent customer service and produce and if there is ever a problem, no questions asked, they fix it right away. Like everyone else we don't have time to be returning apples. It's such a let down. Disappointing. I support this location but they don't care. I understand being short staffed with all the Covid and I have been very very patient. I think more people should take the time to bring things like this to their attention. Maybe they will start listening. I like to support locals. I do not like writing not so good reviews. But when you give a place numerous chances and they still do nothing. It's warranted at this point. Sorry Carr's.

Some of the freshest ingredients in a grocery store in Alaska. The store is nicely laid out with the friendly staff

This is one of the older Carrs around Anchorage. I thing they have done some remodeling of this location because it is better than some others I have been to. It one has all that you would expect of a Carrs/Safeway. I'm not a fan of the hot bar deli but have always received friendly service in all of the departments. Everyone that walks by always ask if you need help. They have 6 self checkout lanes which is nice because I like doing it myself.. Happy Shopping!!

The paying customer deserves priority and care. Not here.

We stopped in after visiting out of town to get a few groceries before we headed home. This store is located just off the New Seward Highway and services a ton of people who are either leaving town heading south, or coming back home to Anchorage. We were there just past 11 p.m. My husband had to use the restroom before we shopped. The restrooms were closed. He asked a guy in an employee uniform stocking the bags of ice about the restrooms. The employee stopped for a second, looked up at us and said "Oh, yeah- the restrooms are closed." We stood there looking at him for a second, waiting for at least an offer to find the person in charge with a key to allow us access. Nope. So, we took our money to Fred Meyer on Abbott Road, just minutes away, who had open restrooms and did our shopping there. Duh. Carr's Huffman doesn't take care of their paying customers all that well in that regard do they?

Fred Meyer's employees put themselves at risk of infection every day. They are overworked and understaffed and underpaid. They, along with medical professionals and first responders, are keeping us alive right now. The only difference is that they are paid and respected much less by our society. To clear a few things up: Instacart: is not owned by Fred Meyer. If you have a problem with them, you shouldn't put that on Fred Meyer. Also: Instacart workers are also on the front lines, and need your compassion. It's a GOOD THING: that grocery stores are being strict about returns. THIS DISCOURAGES HOARDING, in addition to being SAFE. In times like this, we should only buy what we NEED. OK, so with that soapbox out of the way: Freddies is doing a great job, all things considered. Social distancing markers are in place on the floors. Employees are constantly sanitizing and/or changing out gloves. Food is getting re-stocked only days after the hoarders take it all. Despite all the added strain, employees remain cheerful and eager to help. Oh, and they are keeping alcohol sales going...essential indeed. Let's be nice, and keep it classy, Anchorage. We'll get through this.

Keep your empty cleaned out bottles and jars because ladies and gentlemen we can now buy bulk item with out all the plastic from the big stores. They also have empty jars for $.50 if you need them. They have everything from raw nuts, fruit, vegetables, shampoo and toothpaste tablets. We walked around and looked and then decided on a few items We got small jars of a shea butter lotion, amazing! Also picked up some lip balms I believe we got three different ones. Also Amazing! I picked up some wheat berries so I can mill some flour for bread. Speaking of bread, they also sell bread made locally. They sell cookies and coffee made with beans and syrups they sell. We left with a bunch of goodies to try and takes about our next trip and what we will get. I'm changing our eating habits this year. We are making everything at home. No fast food all home cooked. Well except today when we had to eat, but we choose well with our food. lol we are eating clean now so if your looking to change your eating habits, or want to get away from all the plastic and buy local, stop in and have a look. (Will try to make a 2nd review) because I encountered a super rude guy in pick up while working for DoorDash. It was my 1st time picking up at Walmart for Grocery Pickup via DoorDash so I didn't go to the correct area and I was chastised for going to the wrong place/area & then because I was waiting for so long for an employee to assist me. By the time, he came to help I'd been waiting over 10 min. (Long story short he read the app wrong and accused me of being too late (I was not, I wasn't the 1st person assigned this order) and he had a total attitude and I was mortified by him yelling at me and basically calling me stupid for my mistake and I was damn near in tears (maybe he read me wrong) so then he proceeded to cancel the entire order on me and gaslight me, like I had the attitude. I'd gotten up early and accepted this reservation order and drove across town and was on time only to be devastated due to the my 1st cancellation ever . (1st time and only ever that I had an order cancelled especially under these untrue pretenses. I was actually told by customer service to go to that door and then after being yelled at by said employee, I then went back to customer service to inform to them of how I'd been treated only to have this guy come back up to me and yell at me some more. Meanwhile, he never listened to ANYTHING I said or tried to explain to him. He was obviously having a bad day and pushed that onto me. Unfortunately.

Review of New Sagaya City Market - Anchorage, Alaska…read more Five weeks ago, I moved from San Francisco to Anchorage, settling near the downtown area. One of my first missions was to find a coffee spot that felt like home--a place with not just great coffee, but genuine people behind the counter. After trying a handful of cafes, a neighbor suggested New Sagaya City Market, just two blocks from my house. What a win. The market itself offers high-end, quality products. Yes, prices are a bit higher than what you'd find at Walmart or Target, but coming from San Francisco, I was prepared for that. What truly sets this place apart, though, isn't just the products--it's the people. From the very beginning, the baristas here have shown me the most consistent and heartfelt customer service I've experienced since moving to Anchorage. They don't just serve coffee; they connect with you, listen to your stories, and make you feel like part of the community. Today was a perfect example. I slipped in the parking lot (rookie mistake--no spikes on my shoes for the icy ground). After two kind gentlemen helped me up, I walked inside with my spilled coffee. Annie, a new barista I hadn't met before, immediately offered me a fresh cup with such kindness and care. That small gesture meant so much--it wasn't just about the coffee, it was about feeling seen and supported. I also want to shout out Monica and Shea, who I met when I first arrived five weeks ago. They've been consistently amazing--funny, charming, and genuinely interested in conversations about life, community, and even my adventures back in San Francisco. Every time I come in, I leave feeling lighter, happier, and more connected. Thank you, Annie, Monica, and Shea, for making New Sagaya City Market my go-to coffee spot. You've given me more than great coffee--you've given me a sense of belonging in a new city. --- Would you like me to make this version short and punchy for Google/Yelp reviews, or keep it longer and more storytelling-focused for something like a blog or social post?
