The $7.77 Breakfast Bowl is a great deal with scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage chunks, potatoes with green and red bells and then topped with grated cheese. No toast at this price. Coffee is $3.99. 1 waitress and one cook tried their best. From open to 10:30a.... When a second waitress was allowed to clock in early so that a few tables could be seated. Not currently impressed with the service, prices, or smell of smoke wafting through the restaurant. They say they have the Original Awful-Awful since 1956. It is nothing more than a double cheeseburger on a plain bun with a small hand full of flavorless fries on a plate. The actual Downtown Nugget Awful Awful was a large single patty with cheese, sauce, lettuce and tomato on a seasoned bun with an absurd amount of well seasoned fries in a basket. The price is a nearly $20 with an iced tea and could be compared to the likes of a $11 Whopper combo or a $12 Famous Star combo. It has been years since I have been to this casino. We used to gamble and eat here all the time. It opened its doors in 1954. So it has been around the bin. It is a fun place to gamble especially if you are a local. They have a bingo parlor too. In 2008 it became the oldest Casino in Carson City. The Casino has an excellent Coffee Shop, Steakhouse, and comedy club. Needless to say, it still maintains its nostalgic feel. Carson City has a classic old casino. It has been renovated at times through the years so the inside doesn't look quite as old. The Nugget is a place mostly for locals but it's also okay for outsiders. Has a hotel behind it if anyone wants to actually stay here. The restaurant inside the casino serves basic breakfast and sandwiches. It isn't a fancy place by any means and it has that classic stench of an old casino. Of course, it's not as dirty as it could be, and the smell had to be even worse in the old days. The casino has a few other amenities besides gambling. Comedy fans should check out the comedy club. There's often headliners that more than a few people have heard of. Also you can't forget to mention the cafe. This has classic American casino food. Breakfast is apparently the most popular time to eat. They get in a lot of people for the big pancakes. Gambling is why most people come of course. This is a review for the Capital City Grille. I wish they had their own page on Yelp. We have dined at the Capital City Grille twice. The first time we both ordered the Awful Awful Burger which was truly delicious. The Carson Nugget claims they were the inventors of this yummy creation. The second visit my husband had the Chicken Fried Steak, which was a bit small and underwhelming. I had the Prime Rib Special and it was delicious and a great value. It's probably a bit odd to comment on the vegetable that came with our meals, but the broccoli was perfectly prepared. Apparently they have Specials on the Prime Rib dinners, so take advantage of it - it's a great deal. read more

My Mother passed away in April this year 2025 and I was looking for a place to do her celebration of life, I got a hold of the nugget and spoke with the OWNER Dean DiLullo. Everything went great at first. He responded to emails and phone calls. On May 20th I went to look at the room told him I loved it. I was then told he'd send me over menu options the next day. On the 21st I never received an email, then May 22nd came I sent an email asking for the menus, he emailed me back asking what time I was holding it and then was told he'd send over the menus and still never got them. I called again on Friday to be ignored and sent to voicemail. So I went memorial weekend hoping that on Tuesday the 27th I'd have the menus. Nope didn't get menus. So Tuesday the 27th I called and emailed and was still met with silence, I ended up going in to talk in person, Dean explained to me that he was having the chef make up new menus and he wasn't ignoring me....thats weird because all he had to do was email me back and explain that. Well on May 28th Wednesday I finally got the menus. I picked the menu I wanted and then was told he'd send over the agreement on Thursday the 29th, and would you believe it Thursday came and went and never got an agreement. Friday Saturday and Sunday also went by and still got nothing and no response. Finally Monday June 2nd came and still no agreement. So my stepfather called him and Dean told my step father he'd send the agreement he promises. Well still didn't get that agreement till Tuesday the 3rd. Dean your professionalism sucked. It's sad that you are the owner and the one who heped set up this event. I was already grieving the loss of my mother and the way you acted just added to the stress Of this process. I have told everyone I know about the way you handled everything and kept all emails of being ignored. I will never recommend the Nugget to anyone read more

Today we went to the Nugget coffee shop and had some breakfast. The food was great as usual. All American breakfast....eggs over medium, hash browns, bacon and toast. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the bacon had a delicious smoky hickory flavor. Hash browns were plentiful, the sourdough toast could have been more toasty but overall a delightful breakfast but the best part was our host and server Nate....his enthusiasm and overall cheerfulness was infectious. He took our order and delivered our food in a timely manner, all the while cheerfully bantering. My family and I came to the Carson Nugget for lunch today. They have a nice little restaurant in the back. Our server her name was Michelle. The Apple Pie was light and flaky, delicious. The dinner salad was beautifully presented and came with some tasty ranch dressing. The fries were crispy, not over seasoned. Some of the best fries we have ever had. The best part of the experience was Michelle. Very charming and a great sense of humor. She really made us feel cared for. In today's world I believe customer service sometimes gets neglected. Came here with my wife dad and his wife this past weekend. The Nugget is an old time casino in Carson City and it really has that "old time" feel. But having said that it is clean and nice inside. The machines are older and it's not the biggest casino. Nevertheless we had a good time and I walked out with 50$. Also got to see the Batman car. Now I have eaten dinner here before years ago and wasn't all that impressed. But it's seems like they have done some improvements in the last few years. So idk. It could be better. They also have live entertainment nightly. They also have sports wagering. In all honesty I can't give it more than 3 stars. I mean guy with it. The machines are ancient. Popped in for a late dinner at the Nugget cafe with friends. Truly wanted a salad bar, but although it was fully stocked, all items were congealed, from having sat out in the air too long. I realize it was 8pm, but if they can't bring themselves to walk by and stir the items to keep them fresh, I suggest they close the salad bar down after hours. Instead we ordered The World Famous Awful-Awful Burger. One with cheese, one without. These are significantly big, double-patty burgers, and let me say that mine, without cheese, was as dry as the Sahara Desert. No amount of cheese could have moistened that burger up. The grill chef obviously does not know how to steam up a juicy burger, because this is not my first dry burger at the Nugget. Their fries come battered and seasoned, and although they were well cooked, I prefer my fries to be JUST POTATOES; there was no such option. The coleslaw looked ancient and yellow, the lettuce on the burgers was limp and overly dark, the pickles were dry, Kosher chips. The wait staff was EXCELLENT and that is the only reason for the 2 star rating. That burger is Awful Awful dry, in my opinion. read more

I brought my kids here because I wanted to show them the place my parents/grandparents used to bring us for a meal and a trip to the arcade (fond memories). Instead I was met with a rude old blonde "Karen" staffer. I politely asked if the arcade still existed. She rudely told me that she "shouldn't even be talking to me" since I had children present. Not sure if the ticket prices change, however, we paid $15 per person. I do not gamble so can't say much about the Casino, except it is fairly smoky. However, the Comedy club is great entertainment for Carson City on a Friday or Saturday night. The casino itself is great but when you want to have something to eat I recommend you think twice before dining at the capital City Grille. I have dined there many times and the name has changed as many times. The current name is does not reflect the image one would expect with the name Capital City. It is very understaffed and the attention to details and standards is completely lacking. The staff on hand try to do the best they can given the fact that there is no management of any kind present. The wait times are horrendous. Your food order may or may not come to you as ordered because of this. More than once I have dined there in the month and mind you I am on a timed lunch break and I have had to settle for what is served rather what was ordered because of it. My experiences at this restaurant are ones when patronage is very low and you would expect quick service and accurate delivery unfortunately neither is the case. read more

Yeah experience got worse when my card wouldn't work at most of the slot machines & when I got a new one, it didn't work as well.
