Cactus Jack's is a classic old casino. It seems pretty quaint compared to these newer and fancier places. Little cafe in the corner serves cheaply made Asian food but it's unimpressive. Gamblers here are mostly locals. The games selection sucks and it looks like mostly slots. I think this is good if you're looking for a small casino. It's pretty dark inside and it smells like an ashtray, just like an old school casino should. This place is mostly for locals, because there's not an attached hotel for them to stay. A pretty clean inside for the most part, except for the smells of course. There's usually pretty sketchy people hanging out who look like they're on drugs. All they have is slots and no table games. It's disappointing and that makes it less likely for me to come back here. The cafe also lacks food choices for vegetarians. read more

Love how the overall casino is sort of frozen in time, complete with corner door entrances, unusually shaped tiny restrooms and a wonderful grill. They kept their charm. It does smell smokey, though. They do have pretty new gaming machines. Lots of street parking. Wanted to try the burgers, char smelled good outside. read more

This place is a dive with really old machines. Looks like the local tweeker hang out. Sad that Carson downtown puts so much effort into revamping for tourists and yet this place looks like a dump. Employees are not very friendly. Waste of time going here. You won't have a good time. Unfortunate. read more

Cactus Jack's is one of those small "dive" casinos that is fun to go to The big neon sign with Cactus Jack on it is fun to see as you drive highway 395. The casino did leave me a "minor winner" for the short amount of time I played there. With Reno nearby, the casinos there are better. But its always fun to see which of the Carson City casinos on highway 395 is still in business. read more

Don't come in here if you're claustrophobic. Yeeks. Tiny, tiny gaming parlor crammed with what appeared to exclusively be multiliner slots. I was down for trying a cheeseburger at least but nobody was manning the tiny grill counter in the back. No one was manning the cashier desk either come to think of it. Wonder what would happen if you did that in Reno. I think this is owned by the same folks who own Jackpot Crossing and seems to have the same "help yourself to free coffee and soda" policy ... but when all they have to play is flashy multiliners that doesn't really do much good. read more

Carson City is a cool place to drive through! As I was wondering "am I going the right way?" I saw Cactus Jacks Casino. I parked in a lot behind the casino (theres plenty of parking) and walked around a little before entering CJs. Theres bars and restaurants up and down this little stretch of the Highway 395. 395 cuts right through Carson City. Sat at the bar to play some video poker, ordered a draft beer (comped as I was gaming), got carded, lost $5, walked around for a couple minutes till I finished my brew then took off as I had a long drive ahead of me to get back to LA. Slots and a bar is what you have to look forward to here... Have fun. read more

what a dingy pit. it was so dark the bartender lady had to hold a flashlight to help me use the ATM. staff were very nice but even one of them could not see what he was doing when he was trying to you write something down. this place gives a fill that it's getting ready to shut down because it can't pay its electricity. there were two or three other people in there, but the place is empty on Saturday night at 6 pm, they only sell liberty Creek wine, which is nasty. 20 years ago this place was a blast. too bad bc we were super excited to check it out. I asked the woman working there if they kept it so dark because it was really dirty inside she said she didn't know. read more

On FEB. 16th MIDDAY, i arrived with good intentions= relax, win money, and watch the ball game. At first all was good, the first /=earlier bartender good customer service= No complaints. I played a few slots, ate lunch and watched the ball game... all going good until shift change= Second bartender HORRIBLE. I couldn't play enough, tip enough or give enough. The unprofessional immature blonde bartender went out of her way to make me feel un-welcomed. Upset i cashed out my ticket and threw it at the desperate money hungry unprofessional bartender I debated on writing a customer complaint, but due to the casino manager in denial or not wanting to admit a problem employee, I shared my story BECAUSE IM NOT THE ONLY LOCAL THIS PARTICULAR BARTENDER DOES THIS 2. Small, cramped mom n' pop casino like everyone else has said. No table games, only slots that are mostly video multi-liners. Straight away, I hit a couple smallish 4-of-a-kinds playing max-bet .10c video poker. But the machines went ice-cold after that taking everything back. Was there on a weekday night when downtown CC looks like a ghost town. Saw what looked to be a few tweekers and druggies milling about inside. Nice self-serve soda & coffee bar, which turned out to be the biggest highlight of the casino. At least if you lose, you could down 2 liters of soda pop! If want an intimate experience and are not looking for a large variety of machines, you might check this place out. However it is different from any other casino I have been in. I play at the POKER TABLE. I like the dealers and most of the players that are regulars, win or loose, MOST are always good to know people. KAT is a great dealer but can be frustrated by too many inputs to her responsibilities as dealer. I like her abilities and she is always doing her best even in adverse conditions. Thursdays night is tournament at 5pm sharp and Fridays Cash game at 5pm,...always a challenge,...and quite THE game. read more

Kat is a terrible employee. I don't know how she's lasts so long here. She gives the customers and employees such a hard time. Now this place is empty every time I go. Ever since this place has let go and or employees have quit, it has gone down. Very empty, it feels dead. I only like going because One stop Cafe is very friendly and Renegade and her staff are awesome! That's the only time I see people. Delicious food, wing dings are a must but everything there is great! The lady (Rebecca) hope that's her name, that helped us today she's fast, friendly and great food. Hope the actual casino gets a better staff tho. It feels very uncomfortable when I walk in there. The only cozy spot is once again One stop Cafe. Renegade really makes you feel at home.
