Instead, they'll pay you something like 300to1 based on your amount wagered AND use a hard cap of a maximum $5,000 payout for any bet made. For casual horse players who only bet Win/Place/Show, you're probably okay placing wagers on horse racing here when they carry it. I use to go here a couple of Tuesdays a month, Senior Tuesdays. After complaining to management, I haven't been in a couple of months. I decided to try it again today, hoping that, they would have changed. Unfortunately, no change. I always play the same machine. I arrived at 12:50 PM. The casino is usually pretty empty, and now I know why! There are NO cocktail waitresses. You're depending on the bartender to see you and realize that you are there. Sometimes there two bartenders. They do not walk around to check on customers. This one bar tender (picture posted) was talking to someone for over 30 minutes, not paying any attention to any other customers. I can see the bar from where I'm playing. After waiting 40 minutes, I took a chance, leaving my purse on my chair, to go to the bar. I told the bartender where it was sitting, that I had been sitting there for 40 minutes, and could I please have a Chardonnay. She eventually brought it to me. The other problem . . . The whole place smells like Pine-Sol cleaner. Workers are continuously cleaning when there's really no customers. If they had someone paying attention to the customers playing, maybe COD's business would do a lot better. I will not go back! I will bring my money elsewhere! read more

Real chill casino. They have a great Keno area, and my wife won several games. Had a lot of fun. The Sports Book area is really nice. Comfortable chairs and you can buy tickets from the cashier or the kiosk. I won on the Monday night game, so I was happy. There is a counter for drinks which include soda, cappuccino, coffee or iced tea. Free! Bathrooms are clean and the smoke is not bad. We visit Carson City twice a year and always stop at the COD coming in and leaving Carson City, on our way back to the Central Valley in California. Love the non-smoking section, free beverage station, and the nice, laid-back staff at the COD. 100 times better than the old Sharkey's ever was. read more

COD Casino: August 27, 2014, about 6:30PM Esmeralda Street and 395 Minden, NV The former auto dealership whose roots date back to 1912 has been re-opened in the last week or so as a casino. I've only been in once, for an initial walk through (as I don't gamble and a casino has to give me another reason to stop in), and so this review is really based on a five minute tour, probably not fair, but you do get to see a lot in five mintues. The first impression leads me to believe that they truly paid attention to the building as they repurposed it. They've left some office space and a few relics from a bygone era, and this part of the building looks like a moment stopped in time. The ceiling has some very nice copper looking panels embedded in parts, and woodwork looks like it's nicely done. Do you like blackjack or craps? If so, at least for now, you'll need to head down the road a bit, as the only table I saw was a covered poker table. As a former blackjack dealer, I'm always hoping for the full casino experience (including an array of table games, bars, and food), but times, and interests, have changed. It may be a while before some of those games come back into vogue. This is a slot house. I did not see a restaurant, nor did I see a waitress. I did see a bartender, and he was nice as he told me that they had no matches. It's early, there are glitches, it will improve, and, as a history guy, I really appreciate the effort at preserving the building. I'm very disappointed with COD Casino. I receive their promotional cards. We bring in the part for the drawing earlier in the day. We ask what time will the drawing be in the evening. We plan to return before the drawing and gamble and wait for the results of the drawing. We have been repeatedly told the drawing is at 8:30 pm. We arrive usually 15 minute to 30 minutes in advance and they have already had the drawing. When asked they say it was 15 minutes ago, and we were there. This appears to be a rigged drawing. It's a casino. You win some, you lose some. All slots/video poker. No table games. They do have live Keno and a sports book. The restrooms are super nice and clean. The self-serve N/A beverage bar is nice. We have fun here after dinner next door at Francisco's. Get their player's card and every other month you'll get $10 in free play if you bring your dinner receipt from Francisco's. Mainly locals. Friendly. Nice selection of newer machines. I miss this place. This casino was my favorite place to go to with my family. Cocktail waitress made her rounds but was not overbearing, the bartender was friendly and remembered who we were. LOVE this place! It used to be an old garage turned into a casino with a lot of character. Set in a quaint part of Downtown Minden, COD boasts several gambling rooms one of which is non-smoking. They have an all you can drink bar in these rooms and a friendly staff to boot dressed up like garage attendants. Such a cute place. I couldn't have thought up a better theme! read more

This place is infested with dopers and bad service you can tell by the look of the employees that they are treated poorly by management, very oppressive place to play. Plus there is no food served. Music is always too loud , should be background music only in a place where your customers average over 65 years old . My wife and I play until I get a headache and then we go elsewhere to spend our money . Management will sometimes turn it down but the next one turns it back up . The speaker is directly above the keno machines in nonsmoking area . Will not set for 2 or 3 hours with 1980s music blaring in these 73 year old ears . Wife and I love COD!!! Small-town atmosphere, retro music, Len and Jason always ready to chat/help out. Self-serve soda/coffee/tea is a huge plus. Also love the non-smoking section and its fresh air. Granted, we wonder what the policy is regarding e-cigs, as the last visit involved a lady in the non-smoking section using an e-cig, and though it may just be vapors, the scent/smell left something to be desired. Okay this may not be a huge casino but what a friendly place. We just wanted to check it out because it was in a historical area. We were greeted by Megan, the manager, as soon as we walked in. She offered to show us around and give us a little history of the place. We stayed and had some complimentary sodas only to be followed by a few spins on the slot machines. Unlike other casinos, this is the same but no comps, like for food or....it is a nice small casino though. Management OK, employees are great. Overhead music depends. Sometimes it is loud, sometimes nice and low. Music stations vary as well. Hit and miss on what you might like. on 6.3.2015 my wife and I drove down from lake tahoe.to try luck at. the cod garage casino.. on game 65 we hit a soliid 6 spot , with 3 ea 2 spots. this ticket is 4 games in one.we had to sign a tax form because the pay out was 1524dollars... why would you play a way ticket which cost 2.50 a game. so when you hit it solid you would not have a tax form...as of now i,m waiting for the general manger to call me at 1 530 721 2102... this is not good costmer service. james vaughan.......... read more
