My original encounter with Carstar was perfect 2 years ago. But things have changed for the worse since then. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I started a claim and signed them up as the shop for repair. 3.5 months later (and several phone calls to follow up from me) and they mention they forgot to submit an estimate to Tesla insurance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Once my insurance reached out to them they were able to complete the work in less than two weeks and the replacement bumper and finished work looks great. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Unfortunately both Carstar and my insurance were pointing fingers and blaming each other for the delays.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] To top it all off, they left me with a warped Tesla key. This experience left a poor taste in my mouth and is the result of the 2 star review. If I can give zero stars I would I had my car repaired at this location because it was recommended by my insurance Co. it took 18 days and when I got it back it left me stranded Engine warning came on that the car needed to be turned off immediately I had it towed back to CARSTAR and they checked it and they said they didn't put a plug on correctly so it was leaking coolant Mind you, my car was in a front end collision and CARSTAR was supposed to do a great job they charged my insurance $12,000 for the repairs With that being said, one month later I get an oil change and the dealer states there's a coolant leak Needless to say I took it back to CARSTAR and found out the radiator needed to be replaced How the heck do you miss that????? Came here due to it being one of the options given by my insurance. I definitely did my research before picking this place. Overall I am very pleased. The work was done quickly and it looked great. 1 thing I didn't like is that they replaced my windshield with an after market one but they claimed that was a call made by the insurance since they wouldn't pay for a Subaru windshield. I don't recommend this location for repairs. We got our Tesla brand new and it had dents. We unfortunately got stuck with it and had to depend on Tesla to fix the issues. Tesla of upland contracts with carstar so we had no option on who we could deal with. It took carstar approx 3 weeks and 4 try's to fix 1 of our rear doors. I was contacted 4 times to pick up the vehicle and every time I went to pick it up I could still see the damage. The frustrating part is every time I went to "pick up the car" they would always assure me that they did a "quality inspection" before asking me to come down. I had to drive 45 min each way to the location and back home everytime. I wasted a lot of time driving back and forth. Finally after the 3rd attempt at the repair they finally fixed the dent but then I got stuck with some sort of overspray on the door that was noticeable and had to take it back again. They finally fixed everything. Now, I've had the vehicle for maybe 2 weeks since picking it up and I am now noticing they got a few little scratches on the outside door handle, "not a huge deal" but annoying. But what I'm really upset about is the damage I'm now finding on my interior door panel. This place lacks professionalism, customer service and care. They really just try to do the bare minimum to get by hoping the customer doesn't notice what they don't fix so they don't have to fix it. read more

Tesla Upland had us come to CARSTAR to resolve some paint and body fitment issues on our 2023 Model 3. The repair experience on a new car was not a pleasant one for us, but Jerry, the General Manager, really changed that. We had a minor rear bumper issue after the repair was completed. Rather than arguing with us, Jerry said no problem, took the car, and adjusted the rear tail lamp/bumper within 15 minutes as we were waiting. Jerry, thank you for your amazing customer service! I had to take my new Tesla here because of paint imperfections. I picked up the car in the evening (after 5) and noticed new scratch marks. Selena was great - she sent it back and had it fixed. I didn't realize until daytime that there were more new scratch marks, paint imperfections, and CLEAR COAT DRIPPINGS. I decided not to take it back to Carstar because I don't want to deal with subpar work so I'm going to get it fixed, somewhere else, even though CARSTAR did the damage because the quality of their work is JUNK and they clearly do not check to ensure it's done right. Unfortunately, Tesla Upland Service Center has a contract with Carstar so keep in mind you have to go with Carstar for paint issues and minor repairs. Change your service center to Tesla Riverside to avoid going to Carstar Rancho. Maybe you'll get quality service at a different location. read more

Took my car here after I got rear ended. I was quoted to get a REPLACED rear hatch because the damage was bad. Once I agreed to the work, Cuco called the next day saying they were just going to repair the metal on my damaged hatch. I told them I don't like that and I would feel better with a new one. Ultimately they told me there was none in stock so it could take months. Cuco promised it would come out completely, so I told them if I'm not happy Cuco would replace it with a brand new lift gate at their expense. Cuco promised it would be best to have them repair it so I relented. Upon pickup, which I was called at 11 am to pick it up by 4 on a Friday with no warning it would be done early. When inspecting the work I got told everything was fine and I was over inspecting it. They tried rushing me out. I found bare metal that was not painted and they tried saying it was wax on it. Took it home and looked more and it was raw metal. Had to waste my time to drive back to have them correct it. Now not even 6 months later after hand washing my car, which is all I've ever done with it, I found the bondo they put on the car cracking at the repair point. Going to have to deal with it on Monday now and test their lifetime warranty. Overall, extremely dissatisfied with this business and having to take a third trip to this place in 6 months. read more

I wouldn't recommend this place for car repairs or even if Tesla sends you here. My brand new Tesla had to be take here for a passenger door repair and a minor paint scratch near the roof. Tesla subcontracts this place, unfortunately, so we had no choice. First, Carstar said they would provide a rental car from Enterprise which was great until we got to Enterprise only to learn that the manager or CFO had not approved our rental. We waited almost 2 hours and had to complain to Tesla, who had to provide an Uber to take us back to Tesla SC and a loaner car. We felt bad for the Enterprise worker who had to follow up with Carstar for us and was answered rudely by the receptionist. This was already the start of a bad experience. For our car repair, Carstar did a horrible job. They were only supposed to repair the rear door but we found that the hood (frunk) was scratched and damaged, the cowl grille was removed and replaced, and there was also damaged on the rear door that was not supposed to be touched! Makes me question whether they actually repaired the right door. We reported this to the Tesla manager who said he doesn't know what happened. For Tesla not to be on top of the work that was done to our car is unacceptable- the fact that the shop touched the hood was clear and was IN THE WORK ORDER FROM CARSTAR. Lucas from Carstar also was defensive and did not want to acknowledge what had been done to the car. He was rude and hung up on my husband. The work order clearly stated that the shop worked on the hood and the damage that we saw confirmed this. We have to take days off of work to drop off the car and pick it up. This is COST. We're not going back there ever and let them touch our car again. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone who needs repair through their insurance or through Tesla. Not only did they repair/repaint that side of the bumper, but they also repaired all the rock chips and repainted my entire front bumper. It pretty much looks like a brand new bumper now. I had warranty work done on my Tesla. I was a little nervous dropping off my brand new car. Cuco was the advisor and answered all my questions and put me at ease. He estimated the job would take about 2 days. I thought he was being generous and I assumed it would take more than 2 days because they were definitely busy. I was offered an Uber home or a rental. I opted for the rental and Enterprise picked me up about 10 minutes later. On the second day, Cuco called me and said the car was done. I was able to leave the rental at Carstar and get my Tesla back. Cuco made sure to walk around it with me and ensure all work was satisfactorily completed. It looked like new! Hopefully I won't need them again, but if I do, my car will be going back to Carstar! read more

Wow wow wow this place is not the go to for car work at all! I do not Knw how Tesla uses these people to fix their vehicles, it is completely mind bottling! So I take my car here and long story short they ruin the vehicle even worse then when I first brought it in. They were very sloppy with their work and very quick with trying to get me out. As if they wanted it in and out asap! Which I don't blame from a business perspective but also deliver the quality along with it. They painted several scratched areas over that the vehicle which it had when I first bought it and one being the hood. Wow it looked better before with chips then after with all the swirl marks they left. And the Cuco gentleman agreed with me it was bad and agreed to fixing it again! They told me take the car home and bring it back after I make another appt. That right there made me a lil upset cuz I work a lot and don't have time to be coming back and forth for their mistakes. Also I get in and see the roof glass on my car was cracked too!!! So I go back in and talk to Cuco or whatever his name was and he said ohhhh we didn't do that you need to talk to your Tesla rep and get it resolved we have nothing to do with that. Kinda insinuating that I did it I felt and was pretty rude and not professional at all. So I didn't want anything to do with this place after that but Tesla said I had to go back so I tried it out again and made the appt. This time I get to there and request not to deal with Cuco dude but sure enough he's the only guy working and I had to. Long story short u can feel the tension between us, him knowing I didn't want to deal with his unprofessional blank! Then he tells me ya we can fix the swirls but you need to make an appt to do so and we don't have you in our system today so you would need to come back in two weeks... I was done after this I told him and Tesla I'm good i refuse to drive back to this horrible place of business if that's how they wanna treat me after ruining my brand new car! On top of all this they left bondo residue everywhere and I still two months later need to get their sloppy work fixed! I'll post some images but they do not do the justice of how horrible it was.
