In the past I would give to the Red Cross but the locations are inconvenient and last time they hit a muscle that is still sore. I found this Carter Blood care close to my house, if you complete the prescreen online it speeds up the process. From the quick check in, to giving whole blood it took 35 min. Which is faster than usual. Great crew today. Charlotte started it off then Jennifer finished it off. Both very nice and professional, explaining everything along the way. No soreness and very convenient. I will be back!

This is my new preferred donation center! It was super easy to schedule an appointment online and fill out the day-of questionnaire before I arrived. I was prompted greeted and check in at my appointment time before being led to the pre-screening room. Jenny was so kind and personable, and made me feel at ease. I was then handed off to Donna who helped with the set up and donation process She was also amazing! She found a vein and got everything set up like a pro. Great environment with low music and not too clinical lighting. The canteen/snack area was clean and well stocked! They have promotional donation gifts such as 1/4 zips and water bottles depending on the date of your appointment. They are even doing a point system that you can collect and redeem points for gift cards and other items. 10/10 would recommend this donation center and I already booked my next appointment!!

Yes you do get paid but they are sneaky how they do it. You get a small amount when you donate the first day and then they entice you with more on the second donation. Donations can only be done twice week. The problem here is the Denton location is severely understaffed. The employees are miserable. I can't tell you how many times I over heard two employees complaining about how many people are donating. Yeah that what I want to hear when you are shoving a needle in my arm. Avoid this location. Appointments are made every 5 mins. The problem is again they only use maybe half the donations beds and the employees are irritable and there just isn't enough of them to be effective. I had an appointment for 6pm on a Monday. I arrived and 5 mins before I completed my questionnaire. There were almost 30 people ahead of me. That's over an hour wait before you even get your clinicals done. Then you have to donate and it always takes about 15-30 minutes before they even start a machine. Then about 45 mins to donate plasma. Then another 15 minutes to get someone to get you out. Absolutely ridiculous. Do better. Whoever manages the Denton BioLife should be replaced, terminated, or sent to Alaska because they are not able to manage this place. The staff acts like it's only their time and not the patients that is valuable. I literally had one staff member tell me how miserable it is to work there and went on complaining about a patient in detail. Hey BioLife....i work in the medical field and your employee violated HIPPA. Good job. The BioLife staff doesn't care if you waste your time or if they waste yours. One employee told me they are understaffed and underpaid and they are the busiest location in the area. Maybe BioLife needs to cut back on appointment slots so they don't have us standing around waiting for 1-2 hours. This place sucks. It's absolutely not worth it for the measly amount of money you get paid. The staff is clearly unhappy and it shows. Now it seems the majority of people who go here are people on extremely low or no income. And I'm not judging anyone's financial status but I have noticed the people that show up to donate are rather dirty and unkempt.it used to not be this bad. They either will have to make major changes or this location will fail. It's an absolute disaster and crap show. If you are wanting to help and donate plasma please don't go here. It's absolutely abysmal. Which brings me to my final point. Cleanliness. It used to be a pretty clean place. I notice now it's rather dirty. I watch staff barely spraying and wiping down beds and a few instances I watched them not even clean a bed and put a patient on it. That's gross. All these issues have made me not want to ever go here. In fact I'll be filing a complaint about the HIPPA violations and the general poor service they provide.

I have donated with this center for years and have stayed at this OP Plano center for well over a year and have without feeling a need to rotate out to any other center or company. So, Five Stars for them. OctaPharma corporate and information services (push info on the app, customer service phone center, is ABSOLUTE:LY HORRIBLE. "Lies, damned lies, and OctaPharma Customer Service information" - Benjamin Disraeli Yesterday morning, due to the fact that people in my part of the South (USA) get scared to death when a snowflake falls, I called in to see if my center was open. Remember, with OctaPharma, the ONLY way we have to know such information is to call in to the Customer "Service" Center (CSC). They think that all kinds of info pushes out on the OctaApp that doesn't. So, one has to call. Of course, I called at 7:15 because forgot that despite the donation centers being open 7am-7pm, the bottleneck/CSC is only open during "normal business hours" 9am-5pm. So, I waited. My app was telling me I was able to donate but I suspect that is only "me" info, not taking into account anything about the donation center, and I didn't want to make the drive if they weren't open. Thus, just before 10am, I called back and got a rep on the phone: "Your center is open today from 7am-7pm." "You are sure that this info is good for the Plano TX center?" "Yes, that center is open from 7am-7pm." "And that is info for today, correct?" "Correct." So, I had a few errands to do and wanted to let meals kick in, so I went to the center at 5pm. Sign on the door said (not exact wording): "Reduced hours today. Our center will be open from 10am until 4pm." Arrrgh. I called the CSC and asked what hours the center would be open. "That center will be open from 10am until 4pm." Hmmm. "Are you able to tell what time you received that notification?" "Yes, sir, we received it at 10:03 am." So, either the center did not inform the CSC of their decision about operating hours until at least 3 hours after the center's decision was made (to not open at 7am) or the CSC had the info available but did not push it out officially to the reps for up to 3 hours after receiving it. I seriously doubt that the donation center left the phone center uninformed. I checked with the donation center and learned that they had made the modified-hours decision DAYS prior to the ice storm. I cannot believe for a moment they kept this decision secret for several days. And, of course, none of this updated-hours info was on the OctaApp beyond a message that some centers might be closed and donors should check first before going. Forcing us through this info bottleneck of uninformed script-readers and then ALSO giving out completely false information makes OctaPharma the worst of the worst in my opinion when it comes to helping donors with information. The drive in to the center wasn't hazardous, but it was very slow. They wasted my time yet again by not having the right info available in the right place at the right time, and essentially lying to donors. Everything else about OctaPharma is really great, as far as I'm concerned. But their corporate setup for info sharing is ATROCIOUS .

I told him I still needed to get blood... So can you just do that? The answer was "no since we started this process we can't". Clearly they should have known this before they got me in the chair... But the most frustrating part? I still needed to give blood. So I came back a month later... And then they say you just gave platelets so you can't. I don't think I did get platelets... As they stopped the process so quickly that it wasn't even a full process. In short... These guys are really disorganized. I don't know if this is how all the Carter centers are...
