The OctaPharma Plasma Plano center staff are wonderful - knowledgeable, friendly, helpful. I have never had a hematoma there and only one re-stick which was years ago with a trainee. I have donated with this center for years and have stayed at this OP Plano center for well over a year and have without feeling a need to rotate out to any other center or company. So, Five Stars for them. OctaPharma corporate and information services (push info on the app, customer service phone center, is ABSOLUTE:LY HORRIBLE. "Lies, damned lies, and OctaPharma Customer Service information" - Benjamin Disraeli Yesterday morning, due to the fact that people in my part of the South (USA) get scared to death when a snowflake falls, I called in to see if my center was open. Remember, with OctaPharma, the ONLY way we have to know such information is to call in to the Customer "Service" Center (CSC). They think that all kinds of info pushes out on the OctaApp that doesn't. So, one has to call. Of course, I called at 7:15 because forgot that despite the donation centers being open 7am-7pm, the bottleneck/CSC is only open during "normal business hours" 9am-5pm. So, I waited. My app was telling me I was able to donate but I suspect that is only "me" info, not taking into account anything about the donation center, and I didn't want to make the drive if they weren't open. Thus, just before 10am, I called back and got a rep on the phone: "Your center is open today from 7am-7pm." "You are sure that this info is good for the Plano TX center?" "Yes, that center is open from 7am-7pm." "And that is info for today, correct?" "Correct." So, I had a few errands to do and wanted to let meals kick in, so I went to the center at 5pm. Sign on the door said (not exact wording): "Reduced hours today. Our center will be open from 10am until 4pm." Arrrgh. I called the CSC and asked what hours the center would be open. "That center will be open from 10am until 4pm." Hmmm. "Are you able to tell what time you received that notification?" "Yes, sir, we received it at 10:03 am." So, either the center did not inform the CSC of their decision about operating hours until at least 3 hours after the center's decision was made (to not open at 7am) or the CSC had the info available but did not push it out officially to the reps for up to 3 hours after receiving it. I seriously doubt that the donation center left the phone center uninformed. I checked with the donation center and learned that they had made the modified-hours decision DAYS prior to the ice storm. I cannot believe for a moment they kept this decision secret for several days. And, of course, none of this updated-hours info was on the OctaApp beyond a message that some centers might be closed and donors should check first before going. Forcing us through this info bottleneck of uninformed script-readers and then ALSO giving out completely false information makes OctaPharma the worst of the worst in my opinion when it comes to helping donors with information. The drive in to the center wasn't hazardous, but it was very slow. They wasted my time yet again by not having the right info available in the right place at the right time, and essentially lying to donors. Everything else about OctaPharma is really great, as far as I'm concerned. But their corporate setup for info sharing is ATROCIOUS . read more

I've been donating plasma for years and I've never experienced so many errors/false readings of protein and hematocrit levels. I kept getting a low result so I decided to compare with another lab/plasma center nearby. I had my blood drawn within an hour of each test at Octapharma, Plano, TX and another plasma center and I easily passed the other plasma center where I was paid double Octapharma. I'm done. This location was once great, everytime I go there's something either wrong with the machines or they're understaffed. A donation should take about 1 hour, if you do not require a physical. It's just a mess how they distribute their employees. Management keeps themselves off the floor, instead of assisting their team. Jumping in where their scheduling falls short. There should be no reason why you only have 1 intake station opened daily for your entire business hour operation. This place needs help! Fast Corprate needs to come visit this location. Great plasma donor center, and TRUST ME I know what a good donor center looks like. I've been to CSL (Mesquite) and they were HORRIBLE ‼ So coming to Octapharma was such a breath of fresh air Michael is the BEST sticker hands down, and the rest of the staff are so friendly, kind and professional. I'm so upset with how my situation was handled today. I got there at 10:05am, their system was down but I waited for it to come back up... I am a new donor so I had to go through the patient registration, physical, and the vein check. Unfortunately my "good vein" blew after they dug around in it, and my other arm just wasn't a good one, but they still tried. I walked out at 1:35 pm today. So, literally 3.5 hours of my time was spent trying to donate and they only gave me $10 for it. The staff was friendly, but I feel like I deserved more than $10 for 3.5 hours of my time attempting to donate. My sister had a situation similar to mine and was compensated the full amount just for her effort. read more

Update: I have now made approximately 60 donations at this center now, having donated 2x weekly nearly every week since mid-summer. I have seen new staff come in, get trained, and take good care of donors, and the "old guard" stick around and continue to do a great job. I continue to recommend Octapharma Plasma Plano. There has been one significant change. The plasmapheresis machines now take differing amounts of plasma depending on the particulars of your body weight and screening numbers. The top level used to be 800ml. Now, it varies (for me) around 790-870ml or so. I have seen other donors' machines indicating 1000ml donations. It is great that the system is adaptable to the needs of each donor. It is not great that they take as much as 25% more plasma without adjusting the level of compensation :-( . read more

I have been here three times but only successfully donated once. 1st Time: they did the physical, etc and donation went fine. It was an overall ok experience. 2nd Time: they were unable to do anything because I had a slight bruise from the previous visit (a couple days prior). Third Time: the girl did not check my veins before poking me with the needle, she just kind of went for it. The whole process was slow because, from what I understand, the needle was I a bad position. I could tell the machine was stalled but she just kept saying nothing was wrong. Then she would try make adjustments to the needle but then the blood would come out of my arm. I ended up not being able to receive all my blood back and told that if it happens again I would be unable to return for a certain number of days. I wasn't coming back anyways was all I could think...She gave me a gatorade and said she hopes I didn't get a bruise. My arm looked nasty the next day and was sore from mid arm to shoulder. I went back to see what they thought I should do. I was told to go see my doctor. Well... without medical insurance that is not possible. I feel like they should have had somewhere for me to go. Octapharma Plasma - Day 2 - Blood & Plasma Donation Centers Near Me - Plano, Texas

I do not know where to begin but one thing is for sure: I wont ever be going back there again to donate and if you value your health and well being, YOU SHOULD STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. My first time donating (and last) was on the 9th of February. After all the paperwork it was time for the blood draw. The first nurse who stuck the needle in my left arm seemed incompetent and not confident enough. It was very painful when he stuck the needle but I didn't mind. He left to attend to other donors but my suspicions of his incompetence was confirmed about 10 minutes later when a second nurse came around and checked it out. He asked me who it was who stuck the needle in me. I told him. He said he did it all wrong because nothing is coming out of my vein. So the second nurse took out the needle and tried my right arm with relative ease. I didn't mind this incident until I got home and my left arm swelled up with the pain spreading down to my fingers. Still I didn't give it much thought thinking it is just a part of donating. A few days later bruises started appearing on my left arm with the pain still consistently persisting. I still told myself this is just part of donating plasma and these things happen. Fast forward 2 more days and the pain is still there along with bruising but my fingers on that same arm start going numb and tingling too. That was when I got really concerned that this may actually be serious as it is getting worse. I thought to myself what is going to be next? So I went to the Plano location where I donated. One of the nurses/physicians looked at it. She was really concerned but told me they can't really do anything about it and the only thing I can do is go to urgent care. I told her I don't have insurance and can't afford to go to urgent care. The least yall could do is take care of the visitation fee at urgent care. So she called her supervisor and he came in and he told me that they can't do anything about it. He told me I volunteered and it was all my responsibility! I couldn't believe it. Yes it was my decision to come in and anything can happen but this incident was solely due to the incompetence of yalls staff. I came in trusting in yalls professionalism and competence. At the time of writing this review, it has been 14 days since my donation and I still have pain and bruising but the numbness in my fingers is gone thank god. I called them today and talked to the supervisor again about the pain in my arm and my concern but he gave me a cold shoulder saying they can't do anything about it. This is ridiculous. A word of advice to anybody who wants to donate here: DO NOT COME HERE! God forbid if anything happens(and it very much might due to their incompetence) they wont take any responsibility and you are on your own. read more

The Cleanest Friendliest Plasma Donation center in Plano TX . I've been going for over three months and they deserve a review. Starting with the front desk people .Ty is a professional super friendly man who always greets you with a smile he along with Miguel Keven & Travis . They are terrific in welcoming you each time you come in the door. They process the intake vitals and move the line quickly never sour faces always smiles. Their excellence doesn't end there move to the floor phlebotomists they are just wonderful! Marcuslyn is one of the true gems very kind hearted and such a pro with the needle stick! Painless ! All the phlebotomist are super nice Smiling Gigi , Happy Micheal B., Big John, they are all so welcoming and so good with the needle stick again painless! They're trained by the best. I hear another Micheal who I believe worked in neonatal ward sticking the tiniest of humans. He is a true Ace. I've worked in customer service all my life.
