Carter Estate Winery and Resort is an upscale resort and winery in Temecula. It sits on 100+ acres of vineyards and has bungalow suites on the property. One of the biggest appeals is its peace, quiet, and the open back patio that overlooks acres and acres of vineyards. The room itself was spacious with a huge king-sized bed. The bathroom was also big with both a tub and shower. Other amenities included a pool, a restaurant on-site, and complimentary shuttles to other wineries in the area. They also offer hot air balloon and spa packages. The only thing was that the fridge was not that cold so our water and food weren't very cold overnight. The tasting room is on-site closer to the front of the property and when staying at the resort you get $5 off their wine tasting ($30 for 5). We came here after we checked out of our room and our favorite was the cuvée prestige. This place is very peaceful and secluded which makes for the perfect weekend getaway. It's pricey but it's relaxing with beautiful vineyard views. read more

Carter Estate Winery & Resort offers a beautiful and peaceful setting in Temecula. It's situated on 112 acres and includes a winery/tasting room on site, and two choices of room accommodations: bungalows and suites. There is a pool area on site as well with a restaurant/grill but with only breakfast and lunch hours. Room service I believe is limited to those hours as well. Across the street is a sister property called South Coast Winery Resort & Spa as well to enjoy. The drive in is very nice and feels very serene and peaceful. As you go down the road there is the tasting room on the left and as you continue there is a small check in room on the right. After you are situated with checking in you go through the gate which feels like a neighborhood of mini homes. During check in we were provided one of their wines as well! Nice touch! We stayed in bungalows (some are a little different in size/look but are similar otherwise) which were very comfortable with wonderful views of the vineyard. The Vineyard Bungalow was very modern in look and feel and included all the right room amenities (mini refrigerator, TV, electric fireplace, iron/ironing board etc). It was a comfortable space to hang out in and featured a king bed, sofa sleeper couch, sitting area, private patio with a vineyard view, and a large bathroom with a shower and tub. The bungalows/suite offer a parking space or two in front of each one. I was able to check out the winery on site and enjoyed some sparkling wines via a wine flight and even got lucky with getting a little tour of the wine making production/process. There was an issue with checking into their place for family members and the issue was resolved with great care and compensation. We were in town for a wedding near by at a venue, stayed here for two nights and had a wonderful time! read more

Came here on a Sunday night with my boyfriend. We reserved online the night before. There was a hot tub with jets in the room, but it did not work. We had to call for maintenance. The bed also looked like it had a rink a dink frame and wood board under it. My boyfriend has back issues so he called, but they told him that everything was booked. Once I called and told him the jets in the hot tub weren't working about 30 minutes later, they told me they felt bad and gave us a complementary upgrade. I found it interesting when I called and said that there was an issue they were miraculously not "fully booked". The lady upfront was nice about it. We came and returned our keys and we moved from building 10 to building 16. Their tubs are huge! My man is 6'5 and I'm 5'10 and we both fit in there. They're walking in shower is just as nice. There are two different showerheads as well. I love that. The restroom has just the toilet in it and there's a his and hers with enough space. The room does come with complementary robes, but they only came in large. Like I said, we are both tall and bigger people so that wasn't gonna cut it, but it was a nice gesture to have. The bed looked so much more sturdy and comfortable. My boyfriend slept amazing as did I. No issues. The views here are immaculate from your back door porch. Sunsets are great and it's so calming. I had a cup of tea and took in the sites. It's so quiet and calm out here. Nice to get away and just decompress. read more

After staying the night at Carter Estate, we checked out promptly at 11 and came over to the winery. They have quite the selection of sparklings, whites and reds. We greatly appreciate it the way the gentleman designed the wine tree and instructed us to go top to bottom. At the end of our experience, we both agree that daybreak dessert wine is absolutely delicious and that the estate fume is our favorite white wine, and we quite enjoyed the Blanc de Blanc from their champagne collection. This was overall a beautiful experience where you're able to sit out in the shade, but with the warmth of the sun, looking out over the vineyard and all of the white roses that trace along the patio. The only thing I found disappointing was not having more options for taste pairings as far as matching foods with the wines. We were told that we could buy crackers from the store, but there were no cheese options or anything beyond. Overall, that is a minor thing and for why I'm not giving five stars but otherwise it was a wonderful experience read more

Looks like we found our new spot to stay in Temecula! Carter Estates Winery is on Rancho California right before the roundabout to go to Anza Road in wine country. It's been there since 2013 apparently but I have never noticed it. I booked through credit card points and wasn't expecting much but it was seriously the best surprise to have such a peaceful stay in a huge place. There was no email or any other service touch points before or after, like when you book a small town inn. We booked the Vineyard Bungalow which is like a little casita (I think the biggest room type?). There is parking steps away from your door. Very quiet and private. It's like a little house in the vineyard. Vaulted ceilings and just the perfect amount of room. The Nest shampoo, body wash and conditioner smelled amazing. Free bottle of wine at check in - I choose white which was sweet and juicy. There is a pool and hot tub and tasting room. The lady said we could also use South Coast Winery's amenities since they are sister properties. Will def plan to come back next time we stay in Temecula. read more

This is a really beautiful place to book. We went for our anniversary. I would recommend these they really need to have another sign in the main entrance to keep driving down to get to the reception desk. When we arrived at night it was really hard to see. Also we had bugs in our room! The manager moved us to a bigger suite and got a completely wine which I appreciate but I just don't understand why the room would be filled with nats. We had breakfast at our table by the vineyard and man the view is sooooo beautiful This place is relaxing I wish we would've stayed longer. Staff is super friendly and knowledgeable and does a great job of sequencing the tasting based on start to finish as we order quite the range from bubbles to Syrah. Such an amazing stay. The location was perfect. The room was absolutely amazing. The bed almost commands you to stay in it, it's so comfortable. The bath tub is HUGE. An astounding view with a private balcony. Even though it was cold, spent every night out there listening to music in the distance. Stargazing. Saw wildlife walk by a couple times. Small resort but quiet and had a fantastic stay. We stayed here for 3 nights on our trip to Temecula. Upon checking in we got a complimentary bottle of wine. Room was spacious and bathtub was huge! We ordered breakfast for 2 mornings and it came on time. Loved the breakfast charcuterie came in a huge plate for $36! Since the resort is small the only amenities are pool and spa+tasting room, other amenities are available in sister resort south coast winery. We went to the tasting room and loved the day break. My only gripe was that our room wasn't ready after check in time so we had to go to the tasting room for 20 min. Overall a lovely resort with good ambiance. We've been members at this winery for over 6 years and love their wines and accommodations!! The FOOD has been spotty at best, over the years. Today, the steak frites we've always enjoyed, one of the last things on the menu we had loved, was AWFUL!! The steak was always perfectly cooked & seasoned, tender. The fries were fantastic! Today, sadly, the steak was black, though not overdone- tough as leather- obviously very cheap quality, same as their new fries. AWFUL!!! Stayed at this property for two nights this Memorial weekend. Let me start by saying, this place of Motel 6 standard calls itself a resort. Absolutely false. When asked where is the resort in the dryer up , not maintained and dried up plants, the response is, we have a free shuttle to take you to another facility across the street for spa! It gets worse. The sofa in the room so dirty and beat up that you would leave a towel over it to sit on it. Asked for ice, three times over 2.5 hours , said will deliver, never happened. Coffee machine broken. Spiders all over the room , left and right crawling. Brown carpet , dirty as hell and moldy smell. Generally the room very very much outdated , not maintenance and dirty. You would laugh to see the beaten up entry door not maintained or painted some years. Here comes worse, checking out , they ask for $76 and a few cents for resort charges. When confronted with this charge , the Receptionist cooks at the manager nodding next to her and removes the charge and offered a cheap bottle of wine on display after you paid $1200 in room charges. Personally worst experience of a hotel stay in particular when you feel cheated and Hotel. Com gives it a 9 of 10 rating! lol read more

Not sure where to start, I would not recommend this place knowing well I wouldn't go back and stay there again. When checking the staff were very friendly. Come to nighttime me and my friend come back to the room and we find two spiders. I'm not scared of them and I was able to kill them, but my friend is terrified of them. She was not able to sleep. Next day we are ordering breakfast. We can't use their QR code so we call it in and the person that helped us was very rude we ordered a Valley breakfast and two vanilla cold brew coffees. Coffees did not look like the ones they show in their menu and we try to explain to the person in charge what we can do to get one and she just kept saying this is what it is. What she brought us was just an iced coffee and half-and-half. When we ordered a vanilla cold brew. She was very rude about it and even came back to show us that we did not order that. Not sure what she was trying to prove because we called it and we weren't able to order it on their menu through the phone. After we are getting ready to go to the pool and there is spiders under the towels, there's a spider coming down from the mirror to the sink. We thought maybe because it's the winery it's a common thing to find, but we mention it to one of the staff members and she said no doesn't matter where you stay that's shouldn't be happening. Amazing! Loved this place!! Brought my husband here for a two night stay for his birthday! We had the best time. Very clean and quiet! Since, it was my husband's birthday, we were gifted a bottle of wine, which we enjoyed on our semi private patio, overlooking the vineyard. In the morning we were pleasantly awoken to hot air balloons drifting over the vineyard outside our room. We feasted on our continental breakfast while watching them. The room was really nice and had a large bathtub and shower. We had the room with the Murphy bed. The bed was ok. Not the worst bed I've slept in but not the best. My only complaint. Our room faced the sunset and it was just beautiful to watch. It is also close to many of the vineyards to go wine tasting. I highly recommend this place, and we will definitely be back! When you live in California, there are no shortage of incredible resorts for staycations. I love Temecula wine country, and my husband wanted to surprise me with a two night solo stay so that I could relax and recharge my batteries. The room itself was lovely. Spacious, clean, and equipped with incredible views. I had a patio that faced the vineyard, a faux fireplace, mini fridge and safe, dining table with a complimentary bottle of their wine, large soaking tub, two sink vanity, a sofa with a pullout bed I believe, and a gigantic two person shower. All bungalows are ground level, and my building consisted of two units (with an indoor common area that divided the two entrances to the individual units). The buildings are laid out in a culdesac shape, and accessible with your room key beyond the gated entrance. I really liked the added level of security, as well as how quiet it was. The first night I was blissfully snoozing away when a loud door slam woke me up at 2am. When I had checked in, they told me that I was the only occupant in my unit - therefore hearing the door and seeing that the indoor common area motion activated light had come oh was very disconcerting. I'm sure it was simply a security guard doing checks, but regardless took a few years off of my life I was told that as part of the amenity fee, I would receive a complimentary continental breakfast each morning, with the option of having it brought to my room (free of charge). I was VERY impressed, because how many non inclusive resorts do you know that offer this?! Included was coffee, my juice of choice (between apple, orange, or cranberry), assorted pastries, fresh seasonal fruit, and a yogurt and granola parfait. I would give the food itself maybe a 3 out of 5 (the pastries were dry and could have used butter and jam), but will never complain when it's free! The confusing part was that when I called my second morning to order again (a process which had been seamless day 1), they acted like they had no idea what I was talking about, and said that service was no longer offered. We ended up working it out, but it took 30 minutes to do so in which I must have been sent to 3 different phone lines through the resort. I also would have loved to get to use the shower, but couldn't for the life of me figure out how to turn it on. Because I waited until the morning of my checkout to try it, I didn't have time to call for assistance so I opted for another bath instead. I don't know if my shower needed maintenance or if it was completely a user error, but I included a video below. Overall, I would fully recommend staying here. The property and lovely accommodations are well worth it. They even offer a shuttle service to their sister winery in the area, whose on site restaurant is open for dinner. As a note, the grill on property here is only open for breakfast and lunch (either in person, poolside, or in room dining) and closes at 3pm. read more

The bathroom desperately needs updating (shower backs up and lights flicker to name just a couple), needs a larger TV, and the patio cushions were at the end of their life. Although the accommodations were lovely, the in room dining was disappointing. $150 for three of us having a simple breakfast. All items stacked on ONE hand carried tray in plastic to go containers BUT when we called to complain we got a call back from a District Manager who was kind, concerned and went over and above to compensate us. We were assured they were in the process of upgrading their in room dining to a more suitable level. Thus the 5 Star rating. The grounds are beautiful and staff was most kind and welcoming. This was our first visit to this resort. It has a sister resort very nearby and both have tasting rooms. This is the smaller of the two resorts and each view has a beautiful view of the vineyard. They bring your tasting to you all at once with generous pours, delivered in a metal tree, which they place on your table with the glasses marked with your custom choices. This is our first time staying at Carter Estate. We frequent Temecula often and usually stay at South Coast Winery or Ponte. Carter Estate has bungalow style rooms where you park right in front of your room which is very convenient. The rooms are spacious with high ceilings. The bathroom is huge with double sinks, jacuzzi tub, and massive shower. Every room has their own private patio with beautiful views of the vineyards and the mountains in the distance. We were in building 18 which gave us beautiful sunset views from the patio. If you are on the other side you will get the sunrise view. Usually when you stay at a winery property they offer you a complimentary bottle of wine with your stay. Not here, so I asked the front desk for some complimentary wine tasting passes and I was told that they do not offer those either. I ended up purchasing 5 bottles of wine over the weekend at other wineries. What a missed opportunity for Carter Estate to introduce an avid wine drinker to their portfolio of wines.
