We stopped here to avoid a storm on 75. My husband loves fried chicken but rarely eats it. He was so excited to see they had chicken livers on the menu. They do cook it fresh. The drive through line was long so he went in. The breast was huge and only $2.49. A bit of spice like black pepper. He's throughly enjoying those livers. Good spot for Southern fried chicken but don't expect it to be a fast food joint. Hubby said inside hadn't been updated since the 70s and he rarely comments on things like that. Mostly a to go place but they do have a few tables. Really good Southern Fried Chicken. Their Fried Chicken Livers are excellent. Their sides aren't great, besides the Okra and it would be nice if they offered Spicy Chicken. Worth a visit though. read more

Sorry but Carter's chicken is just... so I went to go to Carter's and found blood in my chicken and on my gizzards . But the other food was great though. Similar to another review, we've been eating there (both inside and take out) for years. However, the last two / three times (2019, 2020) we have eaten there the chicken breading was so darn salty that we ended up throwing it away. In the past the 2-piece chicken dinner and chicken gizzards / livers were excellent but now everything is so SALTY that we cant eat it. Come on Carters of Adel....you had it once, what happened?? At one point you were kicking KFC's butt but not anymore. Nashville has nothing to compare with your menu offering(s) but we'll stop driving over if it doesn't get better and just eat at home. Stopped here on our way to TN for a quick dinner. I had chicken livers & my husband had fried chicken. Both were very tasty & very big servings. Saved the extra liver for my dog. She loved it as much as I did. The only negative was we ordered dark meat chicken but got white meat instead. Their fries were just ok but my husband loved the fried okra. Just know okra is extra cost. Not included in the dinner. We will probably go back again on our way back home. Best chicken we have had on our trip. read more

Caters in Adel ga is by far the worst chicken place. We just got back in town from a long trip. Stop to get some chicken and sides. We had to pull to side to wait on chicken. I said great we will get some fresh fried chicken. NOT. Chicken was old and you could taste the old grease in it. Nasty. My son went to Hardee's for us. By far a better choice. I did drive thru one time and when I got to window I was politely informed a mistake had been made and my chicken wouldn't be ready for 20 minutes. Plot summary: Great chicken, lousy service. I was rushing to get here, get a to-go box, and make it back to the hotel before the approaching afternoon storm hit (was not successful). I told the girl at the counter that I wanted a three-piece dinner with a wing, a leg and a thigh. I could tell she wasn't paying attention so I tried to reiterate that I did not want a breast. She seemed to understand at that point so I relaxed. Paid for my boxed meal and made a mad dash for the hotel. The edge of the storm hit just as I was crossing the interstate. Parked under the cover in front of the lobby and just left the car there. Man, it was pouring and blowing! Really ugly weather! Went up to my room and opened my box and of course, there's a breast instead of a thigh. Anyway, the chicken is absolutely delicious, the slaw is really good, and the fries are just meh crinkle cut fries. Wish I would have paid extra for the mac and cheese instead of fries. My bill was only six bucks and change so I definitely should have splurged. . If you're in the area and you want genuine southern fried chicken, hit them up. Horrible customer service!!! The staff was rude and ignored my husband and I when we asked for sauce and refills. Then when they finally answered my husband they rolled their eyes at him blatantly. I've worked in customer service for 10 plus years and would never treat someone they way they treated us. Also, the food is sub par. The fries tastes like fries fish, so the oil was probably old. So I grew up on Carter's, but not this location. The food is bad....and by bad I mean good. The workers have that southern hospitality no nonsense twang that I love about south Georgia. Back to the food however. My staple is the chicken breast sandwich. Mmmm, a nice bone in chicken breast, seasoned perfectly, crispy skin and crust yet juicy and succulent to the last bite. I've had a variety of sides but tend to stick to fried okra with my sandwich. My husband opts for the gizzard box typically and smashes it with no regard for those wanting a bite. The burgers are also great with that nice grilled taste. If you're looking for a restaurant with the aesthetic qualities of a fine dining establishment, this isn't the place for you. Until recently I'm pretty sure the menu was still those push on letters on a board. Any hoot....I've no complaints, the food is deliciously wrong in every way and is always the highlight of my trips 'down yonder'. Oh and it's cheap. :-) read more

Been eating food from Carter's my entire life. It's delicious down home food and the fried chicken is what I compare all others to. We got a box today with macaroni and cheese along with mashed potatoes and gravy. My 10 year old nephew wanted it for his birthday. He's a picky eater~ but loves Carter's. Food tastes the same as it did when I was growing up. The staff here in Adel are some of the nicest ladies you'll meet. FYI the best sweet tea you'll EVER taste. read more

My favorite place in cook county. Each time I go home, I make it my business to get food from here. Everything is always made fresh as I love it and I never get tired of it either. I would be more than glad to take my son and eat from here opposed to any other fast food chain. read more
