They are located off of Hanover St in Pottstown, PA. They have off street parking and small, but nice store front. They are very helpful and courteous. They have everything from house keys, car keys, lock keys, and tractor trailer keys. They were able to get me two hard to find keys for my car and cut keys for the tractor trailer. They strive to make sure everything is working correctly, before you leave. The prices are very reasonable for everyday keys, house, locks and cars. They are very cheap on tractor trailer key cost over half of what the dealer would charge. read more

Locked out and no one has a spare key! Called 5 locksmiths before contacting Carters. They weren't at the top of the google search, but tops on mine! Greg arrived in the amount of time quoted. He was quick and efficient. And the price was on point. Other "Smiths" I called had no one available for 2 + hours and quoted astronomical prices ($175 minimum). BONUS: Quite possibly the nicest guy I've ever met. Good conversation, and he was very cordial even in the rain and cold. read more

Bought a house in Pottstown and these guys were so accommodating- making an appointment for next day then calling to say they could squeeze me in the same day. Rude and unreasonable. I am evicting renters from my rental house in the area. I called to have the locks changed. I was informed I need to give the man the #'s on the keys. I only have the key to the side door. There is only one key for the front and cellar which are rarely used. I told him I can't get him those #'s. He said he can't change them without the #'s. I told him the # of the one I had and he said it's too old, he can't change the barrel on that I told him the others will be older. Just to please replace the whole locks mechanism. He told me that he can't just do that, that he has to have the size first. (doesn't he carry a selection of these in his truck?)I told him I can't do that. I live in NJ, I can't go into a house that renters are bring evicted from in 5 days and find out the key #'s. I told him that I could go get the locks and install myself, but I would like him to do it. I don't care that they are new locks. He said that I can get someone else to do it. He doesn't need someone who tells him what to do and how to do it. read more

They key to my family's gun cabinet was on my keychain for 30 years and was worn down so much that it barely worked in the lock anymore. When I found out that we couldn't locate any of the other keys, I tried getting a copy of the key made at a local hardware store. They took one look at it and said it wasn't possible. I took it to Carter's today and he made a copy manually based off of the worn-down teeth on the old key and the new key worked perfectly! Obviously it took a skilled craftsman, not a superstore generic employee. Excellent work, done in less than half an hour, and unbelievably inexpensive. Carter's is my new "go to" place when I need a locksmith. read more

If you're locked out of your home at 8pm in the evening, DO NOT call this guy! He gave me every reason under the sun as to why he couldn't and wouldn't come out. I think the most insulting excuse he made was when he stated that "people usually end up getting into their homes themselves even before I arrive, and that "pi$$es me off". Well, not every customer is the same and I couldn't get into my home myself, period. But thank you for stereotyping me with your past customers! He also stated that he doesn't take credit cards. Guess what, I had the CASH to pay him! I don't rely on credit cards to survive, as apparently he thinks many people do. By the way, there's such a thing as 'sending someone a bill' if that would be a customer's only option of paying (meaning they didn't have cash on hand). I ended up calling a locksmith from Allentown and he drove 45 minutes to my home and got us in. Now that is a real 24/7 locksmith, and a locksmith with simple human compassion for people that are stuck in a bad situation. read more
