It's a risk that worked out well for me. I started looking for movers a few two weeks before I needed to move. This was the first company I quoted and was by fair the cheapest. Maybe a red flag. The other company I was debating between had no time limit or charge per hour. It was a set rate. I took the change and paid the deposit for Cartier. Requesting a quote The call with each mover is very similar. You list your items and each company values your move slightly different. Some focus on including an hour travel charge, others focus on the number of boxes moved, etc... I liked Cartier because they asked about permits and proof of insurance. No one else did and assumed it was not needed. Other claimed they had no hidden fees. Cartier answered all my questions and didn't seem to have any hidden fees either. I was taken back that their sales rep couldn't give me a total. He said he doesn't want to mess it up by adding it all up. I called back to their main office and whomever answered the phone was able to give me a total. I paid the deposit and waited. Moving day The day before I received a text confirming my move. The guys called me letting me know they were on their way. They arrived at 10: 05 am ish. My move window arrival was between 10 am and 12pm. They were in my apartment ready to go at 10:14pm and asked if starting the time at 10:15am was okay? I said yes, and off they went. I went outside to look at the truck and it was pretty run down and didn't have the companies name on it. The guys weren't wearing company shirts either. The truck was huge and fit all my stuff, but it wasn't clean or new. These guys were quick, strong, and efficient. The moved all the boxes first, then wrapped the glasses, and lastly moved the heaviest items. The drive to my new apartment was 25 minutes. They said they were going to grab some drinks and head over in 10 minutes. I went straight to the apartment and they were there by the time I arrived. Just as quickly, they unpacked the truck, rebuilt my bed, tables, and it was all done by hour 3. One of the moving guys called Sebastian, who gave me a total, charged the card, and they left. I tipped in cash. Overall thoughts This company felt like it all worked out and that is why I had a great experience. For my first time using a moving company I was impressed. These guys were fantastic and very accommodating. Was able to make a same day appointment for a large dining room table I purchased from a private seller on the last day of the month. Incredibly flexible with scheduling and the team was prompt. Pricing was very reasonable and practical in the sense of what I was moving; some other companies quoted ~$460 to move a table (no chairs) 6 miles, ground floor to ground floor. I know we all gotta eat but some of these quotes were simply egregious considering how straightforward this job was. Cartier stepped out of our moving agreement at 5:15 p.m. on a Friday, 2 days before my move, letting me hanging and scrambling to find another moving company. They realized too late that they did not have the insurance coverage amount requested by my condominium. We didn't find anyone else in such short notice and were forced to do the move ourselves with a little help of a couple of maintenance guys in our building. They even tried to accommodate my storage unit which was significantly smaller than the stuff we actually had. I was extremely excited that the moving service was going to be able to help my disabled sister move items from her storage. Most businesses had told me they did not have a crew available. Cartier agreed but then said there was a miscommunication arrived 2 hours after they said they would and then stayed literally twenty minutes which is documented through texts. I obtained about four (4) moving quotes prior to choosing Cartier Moving Services. They were by far the least expensive, which kind of made me second guess their quote. I also noted that they did not have a website, which further made me reconsider hiring them. When I checked Yelp and saw they had solid ratings, I decided to hire them. I was advised movers would arrive between 08:00 AM and 10:00 AM. At 09:55 AM on moving day I got a call saying they would be arriving at 10:45 AM. I wish they called a bit sooner rather than waiting until the end of the arrival window to notify me. Once they arrived, they wasted no time and got to work. They were polite, easy to work with, and efficient. They disassembled/reassembled my bed frame and wrapped dresser drawers and glass tables. It took them about an hour to load and another hour to unload (one bedroom apartment). Also, the final price I paid was actually less than what was quoted! If I need a moving service again, I will use Cartier. read more

I had your classic nightmare scenario when it comes to moving. At 9am Sunday morning, my movers I had worked with in the past called and cancelled....For my 9am move start time! I had 24 hours to vacate and clean my two-story townhouse. I'm extremely thankful my first call from that point on was to Cartier Moving and Sebastian. I have never had a better moving experience! Sebastian and his A-Team (if I recall correctly, it was Jacques and John/Jon) were a rare find. They are professional but not standoffish. These guys made me feel like I had called my best friends. They are courteous and they assist one another verbally and physically (you missed a spot on the wrap!, watch that corner!). They encourage one another like gym buddies spotting each other. To put it bluntly, I'm a big guy. Well over 6 feet and broad. I don't have light-duty furniture because it doesn't last. These guys powered through. They brought black plastic wrap and blankets and tape, all included. The only extra charge was my digital piano, and even that was reasonable. It was an 8 hour move and they missed not one thing. They even helped me unload my truck we had put sensitive items into. They unpacked to the exact room and location in it I specified. I don't write many stellar reviews, because these days, excellent service is usually only found in luxury settings and anything that's "a good deal" comes paired with crappy service. Not Cartier. They are funny, friendly, fast and strong. They are the only ones to call. read more

Too many excuses for damages. One guy kept going back and forth with me on damaged furniture. I stressed to them that everything must be wrapped and handled with care. I don't want to over explain. But I was disappointed. More damages were found after settling in. I was told I didn't buy white glove service, however that service does not even exist as per the dispatcher or whoever he was. Horrible, unreliable, and try to up the cost $250 at the last minute, before canceling after I wouldn't pay it. I asked multiple times to confirm they could have the insurance my condo building required. Sebastian told me every time I asked, yes it's not a problem they have it. He said they would send it to the building as soon as I pay the deposit. I confirmed my move and paid the deposit. He kept telling me he was going to send the insurance to the building, but it took a text, two emails and a call before he finally sent it, after 5 PM the day before the 10 AM cut off. He said he can't get the insurance required without me paying an additional $250. When I wouldn't pay it, after having already signed the contract and paid my deposit, Sebastian said it was my fault that they told me they could get the insurance when they did not verify with the building. He then canceled my move via email, and did not refund my deposit. Avoid! read more

WARNING!! DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!! I booked my move for a Sunday at 11am. At 10:50am, I get a phone call from the truck driver saying he's all the way in Pompano, (I live by Dadeland Mall) and he says he was given the wrong address. He shows up one hour late pushing my whole move behind. The movers smelled like a mix of weed and cigarettes and made my entire place reek and stink up the couches. One of the movers had a stick up his you-know-where and spent the entire move making faces, and sucking his teeth whenever he had to come move another box. They were extremely slow in packing up all the boxes, they did not wrap my West Elm round table, so they completely damaged the edges, and they dragged a white bookshelf so badly across the floor of the truck, we had to get rid of it. These people had no consideration for my items, and when I reached out to the owner Sebastian, he fought me tooth and nail defending his business, never once apologized, and came off as an arrogant guy that didn't wanna hear anything negative about my awful experience. At the end of it all, after getting quoted $295/hour and $95 every hour extra, this man charged me $1,057 for a 8.5 hour move, mind you, I was in a 1 bedroom apartment and I moved across the street. Literally. I tried to call Sebastian and of course he ignores my calls. I reached him once and he told me he would get back to me, and you guessed it. Never did. I sent him so many pictures of my damaged items and not a single response. This man doesn't care one ounce about his clients don't waste your money and time on these jokers. With all the moving companies in south Florida, please look elsewhere. You will thank me when you don't have to go through the NIGHTMARE I had to deal with. read more

Movers arrived on time. Job was performed alright, despite the on-and-off rain. Unfortunately during the move a TV was knocked down and it broke. Accidents happen, that is understandable... but the response to it from the owner was definitively NOT pleasant. After a good 20 minutes of phone discussion, I was able to get a discount on the move, equal to less than half the cost of the TV that they broke. I understand that the worker didn't brake the TV on purpose, but it happened. I won't be using this company again. They do not take responsibility for their actions. read more

Run - do not walk away from the poorest excuse for a loving company. The Budget Rent a Truck was a huge red flag when I drove up and first met and saw Sebastien and his helper, Johnathan. I should have told them right then and there to go home. I had hired him for a $1000 price tags to move my things from Sarasota back to Miami. I asked him to come early - he arrived after 12 noon and started complaining about the number of things in which to move. The movers I SHOULD have hired, MODERN MOVERS, were teaching him how to pack my furnishings correctly. He was wrapping the pieces but not the legs and under them. He charged me $350 for taking my piano - ALREADY DISASSEMBLED AND WRAPPED NY MODERN MOVERS - and walked into the Budget truck. He was driving (he told me he had his truck back in Ft. Lauderdale) He complained and argued with me on several occasions. I was shocked! He asked me how many times I have moved - to which I replied 28 -- he then ventured to up the amount that he had moved! I am in the airline business.... It was like me asking someone how many times they've flown and upping that amount. Moving IS HIS BUSINESS! Of course he's done it more than I. But what he fails to understand is that it's not quantity! BUT QUALITY! It's not how many times you've moved someone, but HOW WELL! He was complaining and arguing and charging me for the number of stairs he had to walk up. He overcharged me greatly ($1700) and if it wasn't for his helper, Johnathan, who was very gentle with my things) I would have thrown him down the very stairs he walked up. Hired Cartier 8/19 after reco from consignment shop. Movers did $1200 damage to leather sofa & loveseat. They did not properly cover furniture or take care in moving only one mile between Fort Lauderdale condos, causing gauges and damage to both large & small pieces. Sebastien refused to return calls, texts, emails, and pics which documented getting 3 estimates & having repair work done. They should get a negative star. Absolutely do not use. They took eight hours to move one bedroom, one living room, one dining room table, five paintings, some lamps and about 25 boxes. Of all that, they damaged the dining table, bed rail and footboard and a dresser. They ruined two paintings and two lamps. Just horrific. They wrapped everything in heavy saran wrap but did not use blankets. Even their boss Sebastian took them "off the clock" after seven hours because he said they were taking too much time. read more
