They stated that we were in network with our insurance. Comes to find out we weren't. We called our insurance we called the office and yes we were in network. After we paid they stated we were only in network for certain plans. It was almost $600 Bill we paid in full. Then our insurance sends a check to the company and they hold it and say they will refund us the exact amount that the insurance already sent in to cover. In other words, they're going to refund exactly what the insurance is already covering, as if they're doing us a favor. The Dr. Did a decent job on our Daughters lounge tie except a small heat blister on her gum from the lazer. Which we didn't know until a few days later. We ended up having to place the claim ourselves. What good is there insurance coordinator if you are doing their job for them. Their insurance coordinator didn't even run our EOB before we came in to get the service done on our daughter's tounge. We honestly feel like they said anything. At that point if we are paying almost %80 of the bill we would have not gone there and found a place completely in network. Things are expensive as they are. Complete dissatisfied with the quality of customer service. Let's hope we even get the check they received from our insurance.

My son needs sedation dentistry done because of his autism and his regular dentist doesn't do pediatric sedation. My dentist said they don't recommend this dentist because other patients they sent there were unhappy with their experience. So I called back to cancel my appt and explained that I had a referral from my dentist to go somewhere else and the receptionist said that they would still see my son without a referral from my dentist. I said that I was sorry that if my dentist wouldn't refer me there that I wouldn't take my Autistic son there and she hung up on me. So I wouldn't refer a dog to go here if that's how they treat you over the phone.

My schedule was harder to work around than his. When I showed up to my appointment, I was not made to sit and wait for 45 minutes as I am generally accustomed to. I was brought back within 5 minutes and then the doctor was looking at my teeth about 10 minutes later. After taking X-Rays with his incredibly pretty assistants (big plus ;-) ), Dr. Roland sat down with me and discussed what was found as well as options. I had 5 cavities as well as a probable root canal. The cost after my insurance was going to be more than I could pay out of pocket. Dr. Roland told me that I could set up a payment plan to make up the difference; the important thing would be that I get the dental care that I had been neglecting. He gave me all the dental supplies I could ever want as well as provided me with an assessment of what each step would cost and why it was necessary. This allowed me to 'shop around'. Dr. Roland's cost per procedure were right in line if not a little below the other dentists in the area. I went back for my next appointment (today) and had 2 of my cavities filled. He was very patient with my discomfort and was very concerned about how numb I was. I feel no pain just a few hours later, and I am eating chineese food without a problem. Over all, I know nothing about Dr. Roland personally, but as a Dentist, he is the best I've had so far.

Dr. Sarah Severson used to work at Austin Pediatric Dentistry until she started her own practice. Both Austin Pediatric Dentistry and Shine Pediatric Dental are excellent. You can't go wrong with either. The only difference between Dr. Lucas and Dr. Sarah Severson is that Dr. Sarah S. called our lactation consultant following our appointment to give her an update. I thought Dr. Severson was really thorough. Our lactation consultant wanted us to get a second opinion so we saw Dr. Sarah S. at Shine. Both Dr. Lucas and Dr. Sarah S. came to the same conclusion and advised us not to get a tongue or lip release for our three month old son. However, Dr. Severson took it a step further and said the next reevaluation period would be 7 - 12 months, if he continues to have short gag reflex with solid food. Dr. Severson also advised the next following reevaluation period would be at 3.5 years old, if he starts talking like Elmer Fudd. "Be vewy vewy quiet. I'm hunting wabbits." She was a lot clearer than Dr. Lucas on next steps and milestones to watch out for. She's very thorough. I also learned from Dr. Severson that my son's tongue tie is shorter and thicker than average, where as Dr. Lucas only mentioned his was further back.
