Ordered a medium, was the smallest medium cone I have ever gotten from carvel. Vanilla cone with rainbow sprinkles tasted like cleaning supplies. I am sure it didn't help they were spraying cleaning items in the store (40mins before close) as toppings were exposed to the air. I likely won't be returning to this location. read more

When I was a little girl my dad would take me to the Carvel in my home town, Ronkonkoma. He always had the cherry vanilla ice cream & I would get a black and white shake. These days black and whites are prepared differently from way back when or as I call them the good old days. When I think of Carvel, I think of childhood memories and growing up on Long Island. The Carvel I used to go to in the 70's and 80's is still there too. So when I am feeling a little homesick and missing my dad, I stop here for a small treat. This happens only a few times a year because as an adult ice cream is hard on my stomach. The cherry vanilla is available but it doesn't look like it has loads of cherries like when I was a kid. My old school black and white shake is no longer made with Fox's U-Bet chocolate syrup but with both chocolate and vanilla ice cream. It's very good~just not the same. Now as an adult I stick with a small vanilla soft serve cone or I just get a small scoop of chocolate chip mint. The store is clean and the counter people are cheerful. We had our BOGO sundaes on Sat with a coupon. We tried one with black raspberry and cappuccino softserve topped with chopped almonds, whip cream and a cherry. The second was cakemix and vanilla, sprinkles. A medium seemed like sooo much. Saw a sign on the wall for a Wed Sundae BOGO. Will keep that in mind. They have 3 soft serve machines, the kind with two flavors and the swirl in the middle. I always get the chocolate-vanilla swirl, dipped in the rainbow sprinkles. Classic! They also have a variety of flavors of regular ice cream for you to try. There's also a freezer to buy ice cream sandwiches and cakes too. You can get sundaes here as well, but I haven't paid much attention to many other menu items. Service is great, the folks who work there are always kind. They have specials about every day of the week. I like to come here after lunch on Wednesdays, and get the BOGO soft serve deal. At this time of day, it's never busy. I had the rocky road ice cream at this place today. It wasn't bad. It's def not the best ice I've had. I usually get my ice cream at marble slab which costs about $7-8. Here at carvel my ice cream is $2.99 for the junior cone and .89 for the hard shell dip. Not bad. But I would pay double to have my rocky road ice cream with marshmallow and almond slices, and chocolate chips in a white chocolate cone from marble slab. One good thing I can say about carvel is the rocky road is not too sweet which I like bc when u add toppings to an ice cream that's already too sweet, it's just too much. Marble slab ice cream is too sugary and I can never finish it. I'm glad there is a junior size at carvel. read more

Visited again this year with the (now) 9 year old who still loves that Sprinkle dispenser - with a rainbow of sprinkles. (That's "jimmies" to you!) She is not as enthralled as when she was 6 or 7, but you never outgrow your need for Carvel. The ladies/girls working here are very friendly and patient with the kids (and elderly). A plus... the low-brow strip mall has been cleaned up alot and has new benches, tables and planters in the parking lot. It's a very affordable treat for el kiddo. We just went to Carvel and one of the workers was VERY rude. He was saying he did not want to help anyone as we were standing there. We also asked for a banana split and he proceeded to say "you won't be getting anything with a banana because we are out". It was very unprofessional. Full disclosure: We have been here before and had great service. Tonight, though, we had a young man who clearly had no interest in his job or his customers. I realize tonight is a "Wednesdays are Sundays" promotion, so maybe he's just sick of it, but he put ice cream and sauce in each of our cups and was ready to check us out. No whipped cream, no cherries. Is that a sundae? We asked for the whipped cream, which he grudgingly added. We didn't bother asking for the cherries since it was obviously an effort for him. DO NOT GO TO THE SPANISH RIVER STORE!!! I ordered a cake online for my cousins birthday on June 5th. I had the order number and I paid for it. I wanted to double check on the cake to make sure everything was ok with the cake June 18th. The girl that answered...30 minutes late from the time the store was to open...said "we have no cake". I gave her my order. She didn't speak much English. I drove to the store. I found her playing games on a laptop. I asked to speak with the manager. She said "out of he country. I said "I want to speak with him". Then she said to me "you probably have wrong store". I showed her my order and number. She miraculously got the manager on the phone and I spoke with him. He told me that he has no cake for me there was a mistake. I was very upset. She said "what is wrong with you?" Nobody was fixing my problem. I called customer service. They said they would look into the issue. It has been 4 days...nothing. Horrible customer service. I went to the Carvel on Glades Road. There was a nice lady there. There was one cake left. I had to buy that cake and had "Happy Birthday written on there. It was not the special order cake I had ordered, but she was very accommodating. She told me that the one on Spanish River is under new owners again and this is not the first complaint "again" she has heard.
