a slice of cake being cut

Ice cream season is coming. While I'm very excited to return to the many shops that will be re-opening within the next few weeks, I'll always have that extra love for Carvel for not leaving us to die during the winter like the rest of them. My girlfriend and I are pretty ice cream intensive people, and having spent the last 10 years living outside of the city, going out for ice cream at all was something we could only do half the year. Some of our fondest memories this winter are of us trucking it across town, sometimes through bad weather, just to get some cones to take back home. I'll be honest. With the amount of money we've spent here, we've never ordered anything but straight up soft serve. Their stock soft serve is my personal favorite. Another very important aspect is that they roll their sprinkles on, which makes them vastly superior to so many places who timidly spoon them around the cone. If it's possible for me to count the sprinkles on my ice cream, I'm gonna need some talking down. We also come here for ice cream cake to celebrate every possible event. Valentine's Day, Anniversaries, Birthdays, 1+ months since we've had ice cream cake, all of them. Life is so much better when you have a Fudgy the Whale with something funny written on it in your freezer. I'm sad that I always overlooked this place, assuming a national chain wouldn't compete in quality with the dozens of local places at every corner.

Ordering here is a pain and all ordering is done self service with very little interaction with staff. Like that you can now get the smaller cookies that had been for catering or where you had to buy a large number of cookies. Also was pretty excited that the signature pink frosted cookies were available but are only available as smaller cookies which works for me. I will definitely be back for those but was dying to try the Birthday Cake thin cookies and knew with the heat the frosting probably would hold up and had no room in my freezer at home for the pack of the small cookies. Unfortunately, had a number of errands yet to run so will plan on small signature pink cookies soon. Was surprised that Crumbl for single cookies moved from boxes to bags but it worked as I knew I would be hitting that bag when I got to my car as my purpose was to get a quick afternoon sweet fix. This coming from someone who has a super large sweet tooth. The cookie was on the crispy side which is different than the cake like and dense cookies they are known for but they still were really good. Order came as two thin cookies which was nice so I had one for later. Like that it was not a heavy cookie so made it the perfect afternoon snack.

The interior has a cute ambiance with mismatched furniture/silverware, eclectic artwork, and vibey music. Despite the unassuming exterior, everything that we ate and drank here was phenomenal and I am excited to return to a different menu in the near future.

They were also so kind to give me a complimentary glass of prosecco to celebrate my birthday. Wednesdays are $2 off all cider and wines so my friends enjoyed that deal as well. The Wedge changes their menu on a weekly basis so I was excited to see what was on this weeks menu so naturally we had to get multiple dishes to share in order to try as much as possible. We ordered two pasta dishes, truffle fries for the table, and brussel sprouts to share family style and we didn't leave a crumb behind! All the dishes were more unique than a typical pasta dish you may find elsewhere which was extra fun and soo delicious! The brussels were so soft and topped with so much flavor. I would love to come again to try their brunch menu and continue coming throughout the year to try many new items as their menu rotates. I really wanted to try their mac and cheese so I am determined to come back at the right time for that one!
