Plenty of seating w/ available napkins everywhere and the place was very clean and organized. Three of our team were very satisfied with their orders. I however, have a minor concern with my root beer float /ice cream. I requested vanilla, which they provided, but, I couldn't see the ice cream. Typically, the ice cream fills the container followed by root beer. What I feel I ended up with was a $4 small cup of soda with a less-than -normal (imo) amount of ice cream. This used to be my go-to ice cream place, until this year. Maybe they got new owners but the milkshakes my grandkids had were full of ice crystals and were crunchy which should NEVER HAPPEN!! The black-raspberry twist is what I always get and it's normally like a custard, but when I went this past week it was watery and had little to no flavor. I am so saddened that the quality of ice cream has diminished since new ownership. Such a shame! I thought the the soft serve ice cream tasted good and had a nice texture but it mostly tasted of just vanilla. They have outdoor picnic style seating and no indoor seating option. They sell flurries, sundaes, fun themed ice cream concoctions for the kiddos (trash-can sundae), and soft serve ice cream. The strawberry shortcake ice cream was super messy. There was strawberry juice all outside of the container. The shortcake appropriately was dry and salty. I really like the old-town feel to the walk-up ice cream stand. The windows are adorned with a bunch of visual sensory overload. There are posters, stickers, colorful pictures and menu items. I would definitely come back to try one of their fun flurry flavors. But this time, no wait for my snack. My go-to is their version of a blizzard, the flurry. I usually get the M&Ms with the creamy vanilla. I like how small the M&M bits are so it's not all candy or all ice cream in a bite. I've also had their slushies (too sweet), root beer floats and the dipped cones, with a variety of flavors. My kids love The Trash Can, which is a bit pricey but a fun treat to celebrate an achievement. So the family and I needed a nice cooling dessert after chomping down on hot food in a hot building with no AC. We saw this on the way to the restaurant and my wife had that look of fire in here eyes. So on the way back, it was a given we would come here! So they have a wide selection of different types of ice creams available, but there are few things missing that kind of blew my mind. I was stuffed, so I just wanted to have a small bowl of cookie dough ice cream. What I found out next shocked me...They don't have hard ice cream! Needless to say I was pretty bummed out! Fortunately the girl who served the ice cream said I could get a soft serve ice cream and they could blend in cookie dough. So I basically made my own cookie dough ice cream. Now the entire reason I wanted a small, was because I was really full. When I got this mixed ice cream...it was in a pretty big bowl. I wouldn't have minded that much, but I had a feeling it wouldn't be cheap when I saw the size. My wife and her mom got a cone for a couple bucks each, but the total cost for all 3 was 10 bucks! I didn't come here after dinner to spend 10 bucks on ice cream. I wanted something small and yummy that only would have cost a couple of dollars anywhere else. That limitation bummed me out. Flavor wise, mine was pretty tasty. The ice cream was good and the cookie dough fresh. The cone I got my wife was incorrectly made the first time, but they remade it and it tasted great. Welcome to Sno top where the sign says you will pay 5 dollars for your drop of ice cream but you added sprinkles so it ends up being 7$. Add that on top of some sassy Highschool employees that can't add and you are in for one GREAT experience. I grew up eating Sno Top, and I always knew it was a rip off but didn't care because my mom always paid. Well, now I'm a poor college student and have come to the realization that a table spoon of soft serve for 5 dollars is not exactly how I want to spend my money. I could think of a million other options to settle for before wasting all of my money at Sno Top. I'm not trying to be rude or anything but the reasons I hate Sno Top are totally logical. The only reason why people like it is because they are Manlius locals and have grown up eating here. But to be straight, Sno Top is a rip off. Literally a small is like 2 turns of soft serve on TOP of the cone. THEY DONT EVEN FILL THE CONE. R U SRS!?!? A small is literally 5 dollars and I need a friggin magnifying glass to see my Icecream. Not to mention they like double the baseline price for a cone...and the only price posted is the baseline soft serve in a dish. Just be prepared to pay triple of what you are expecting. I didn't know it was possible for someone to ruin an ice cream experience for you. But Bethany at Sno Top managed. From the moment we walked up she had an attitude, like she didn't want to be there and she wanted everyone to know it. On a huge board it says you can create your own sundae, and each extra topping is 70 extra cents, yet she refused to let us add more than 2 toppings and after we asked again for her to please add sprinkles no matter what the cost, a gentleman working there handed us a cup of sprinkles?!?! When she handed us our last item (of 3) the guy I was with said thank you, and without skipping a beat she says, um you have to pay. While I'm standing there with money in hand. Which she continues to snatch out of my hand, make change, and hardly get the change in my hand before she slams the screen down... We asked to speak to a manager, but we're told that there wasn't one available, but as we walked away we could see her pointing out the window at us. Um thanks, this Sno Top experience that we were all hyped up about is now ruined and we no longer even want ice cream...but we refuse to waste this $19 we paid for 3 ice creams...who knows what she charged us for though, no receipt and definitely no extra toppings were to be had! read more

Although my family and community wait with baited breath for Sno Top to open every year, I can't give it a high rating. It all began when I was 2 years old and they refused to let my mom purchase a baby cone, because they don't have a size appropriate for children. As I grew older and started softball, my coach would treat us to ice cream here at the end of the season and soon the glacier was born- a slushie with ice cream or frozen yogurt inside. Then came high school and I knew almost all the girls who worked here because we went to school together. With age came the ability to do math and I realized even if I ordered the same thing each visit, magically my total was never the same. I checked in with my mom and she confirmed this phenomenon. They never give receipts. The ice cream is good (certainly not the best) but their business practices are dishonest. The line is always long in the summer and often orders are mixed up. This place is a staple in Manlius, and you can't go to the swan pond with out going to Sno Top for ice cream. They can be a bit expensive, and lines some times long but it is worth it. The best place to get Soft Ice Cream is on the side of the Kwik Fill on the Manlius Center and Bowman Rd in East Syracuse. The second time, I was charged $10.81, and I was given a small instead of a medium... They offer some unique menu items but the girls who work there tend to have attitudes. I've been there on several occasions. Once, around 5:30pm, I stood outside a good five minutes before receiving any service at all. One girl came from the back room with her eyes glued to her phone and didn't see me for another good minute. I wish the girls had name tags or something so it would be easier to call and complain. Another issue with service is that the prices are constantly changing. Every season they seem to creep up another 10 cents but the cones get a little smaller. Even then I never seem to get the right amount of change. I understand the workers there count out change by hand but if you're going to have your employees do that then train them so they're doing it flawlessly and not ripping off some customers and giving others extra money. Today was the first day of Sno Top for me and I ordered my favorite, van/choc twist dipped in chocolate. My daughter ordered the strawberry banana smoothie. Mine was as I expected, smooth, creamy, delicious, and she said that this was her new favorite. I wait through the colder months for Sno Top to open, and today is my payday. They have such a variety of different kinds and flavors. My grandkids favorite is the trash can, a frozen treasure chest of delights that they can keep the 5 inch tall trash can after they are done. The line was 4 abreast, and 12 - 15 deep depending upon which line you were in, and we were served pretty quickly as usual (about 10 mins total). I usually get it in one minute when I'm by my self. People argue about the price but when your not broke and have some extra cash it's worth it.
