The ice cream is hit or miss. There were days where the ice cream was truly delectable. Then, there were days when the ice cream tasted old and just not too tasty. I need consistently good ice cream. Jajajajajajaja!!! CARVEL IS RE-OPENING!!! Finally, my neighborhood will once again get it's ice cream fix! I will once again get to stuff my face with birthday cake shakes and ice cream sammies. Walked to get coffee at 711 and saw a sign up that says "closed for 2 weeks" and there were people painting. There was also evidence in paper on the window in the form of a city inspection tag =D Can't even to begin to say how thrilled and excited I am! I was so incredibly sad when the economy forced my ice creamery closed. I mean I know that my area suffered tremendously when the economy failed a few years ago. People were bleeding, so I can see how ice cream out would not really be practical for everyone. Hopefully with all of the new businesses around, and with people returning back to work (except me lol) Carvel will once again thrive! Don't worry Carvel, I will see to it that you do! read more

I'm sorry to say this location has closed. Since the floods that occurred several months ago it seems they never quite recovered. The store front is still there along with all the equipment however. I'm hoping someone buys the business and starts it up again. read more

Manager kept licking her fingers when taking dollar bills out of the cash register. She was rude and very nasty; however, I must say that the owner was a little more accommodating. There was a mixup over two ice cream cones and the minimum purchase requirement of $10. The owner resolved the issue via telephone, but the manager was upset because he overrode her decision not to provide the refund. Posting this review to bring to the owner's attention the manager's unsanitary habit of frequently licking her fingers when giving change back to patrons. This is an establishment that serves edible goods to the public, and that is a disgusting practice. The quality of the ice cream is consistent (delicious); unfortunately, so is the manager's bad temperament. read more

Terrible customer service. I went there to return an ice cream cake after finding a HAIR in it. Some older Spanish woman was very rude to me, saying I'm the only one that makes the cakes, that doesn't look like my hair, where's the rest of the cake? She even got another employee to look at the hair and agree that it was too dark to be hers. These women are in food service and should be wearing hats or hair nets. I remember Carvel since my days as a kid. If you've never had their ice-cream cakes, you owe it to yourself to try it, they're quite good. I love when they get all melty (not a word, but that's ok)! Carvel in Elizabeth on Elmora Ave was absolutely disgusting!!! I ordered a Sundae Dasher, Carvalanche, and 2 soft serve cones. Both soft serves melted before i opened the door to leave, and the dasher and carvalanche was missing the toppings I requested. The icecream tasted funny, as if it wasn't real icecream and was replaced with something else. It lacked the thickness of real icecream and the taste was way off. Due to the recent events of crazy people licking and tampering with icecream, I couldn't help but wonder if something happened to mine. I usually go to Carvel in Avenel and they are deliciously amazing EVERY SINGLE TIME. I will NEVER return here again!!! read more

This place could be good like any other carvel shop but unfortunately this store has a nasty manager or owner. The old lady that runs the place is rude and does not know how to run a customer service business. You serve ice cream... it suppose to make people happy but she leaves a very poor impressions when she can't talk to her customers the right way. Poor young ladies that works there... I hope they don't become like her. I will take by business somewhere else. read more
