Im sorry but im very confused with these reviews. Are they even real. No seriously. I will start with the staff. They are great and very helpful. Very good crew there but the pasteries and baked goods arent good at all. Not even a little bit . I tried multiple cheesecakes. I tried the brownies. Nothing was hitting. So disappointed I cant believe how nothing tasted good. Some of these people clearly never had a good pastry. Any donut from paris baguette is better than anything in the shop. It was my first time there so i had to try different sweets. I had to throw away my red velvet cheesecake and im a fat boy. I dont discard desserts but i couldnt eat it. Sorry but i cannot repeat. One and done for me . They sell cookies like the markets sell salmon $19.00 a lb. Selling fish like cookies is a bad idea... We need some new bakers in there quickly. read more

Nice people. The cupcakes were not good. Cake is barely sweet. The icing is like sweetened, flavored beeswax. Pillsbury or Betty Crocker is better. La Bon is one of the two vendors that works with our wedding venue. We contacted them to schedule a cake tasting. They told us we needed to provide at least two days notice. They let us try their chocolate, vanilla and red velvet sponges and a variety of standard and premium fillings. I thought the peanut butter filling was particularly delicious. I could eat it solo. Ultimately we decided to go with another vendor since we thought their wedding cake designs were quite simple and we wanted something more elegant/ artistic. I went there today on a whim to satisfy my sweet tooth. The cheesecake was extremely moist and velvety and my fork easily pierced through each layer. I could taste the raspberry swirl just enough that it wasn't over powering but made its presence known. I also had a double chocolate cookie that was to die for, I'll def be back for that and the cheese cake. My wife loves rainbow cookies so this was a wonderful surprise for her. I tried their cupcake of the month, I forgot the name but I believe it was like a featured item or something. Either way that was also pretty good. Very rich (not necessarily in a bad way either) and lots of details with the caramel and I think there were maybe chunks of apple in there. Either way it came together lovely. Really friendly little bakery in Woodbridge. It is so rare to find an authentic bakery these days with the supermarkets taking over the world, and I didn't even realize this one existed in the last decade that I've been in the area. The good news - they were open much later than I expected on a Saturday night, and they had plenty of yummy desserts available too. Walking in through the front door you will be smacked in the face with the sweet smell of cakes, cookies and pastries and your stomach will totally take over your brain. I used to be a regular customer of La Bonbonnierre in Edison because I loved their cakes (albeit expensive), and yummy pastries. There was a period where the cakes and pastry quality dropped and I swore them off, but last week I had a sweet tooth that needed a fix so I decided to give them a try again and was rewarded! I ordered a apple coffee cake square, German chocolate square, carrot cake square and two cupcakes and they were pretty delicious. I was skeptical about the cupcakes as they looked small and ordinary, but I liked how they weren't overly sweet (including the icing), had a good flavor and had a good density. The squares were a good alternative for those craving a slice of cake but didn't want to buy a whole cake. Only negative was I wish the German chocolate square didn't have coconut shaving in them, but that's just a personal preference. La Bonbonnierre also sells breads, breakfast pastries, Italian cookies and pastries, prepared cakes as well as make custom cakes. They often have special pastry of the month, so check their website. After this experience, I may just request my family get a custom made cake for my next birthday! read more

We got a birthday cake and cupcakes for a family birthday party yesterday. The carrot cake cupcakes were delicious. Very moist and the icing tasted wonderful. The cake was pretty good too. The icing was a little sweet but the vanilla custard inside and the cake itself were both very good. I've come here in the past for cookies and those are pretty good too. Small local bakery with you want coffee and something sweet to munch on. They had some options you can pick like cake, brownies, cannolis, etc. Their coffee was average and staff was nice. There is ample parking behind the Cookie Jar and Chicken Galore; it's slightly hidden at first. They have self-serve coffee which was okay and slightly cold. Although, I had the pecan pie bar and it was absolutely delicious. They had plenty of caramelized pecans on top. Below the pecans they had the normal filling for pecan pie. Then instead of the normal crust one would normally find in a pie, they used a layer of what looked like a denser version of phyllo dough. It was perfectly flaky to go with the top two layers. I probably wouldn't have their coffee again but I'd definitely try another one of their sweets options (maybe even their pecan pie bar again!). read more

Their raspberry chocolate ganache was soo good, I got 2 of them within 2 days for 2 occasions. The frosting is a beautiful pink rose with light raspberry and full butter flavor. The inside is laced with layers of chocolate ganache. I'm a huge fan of this cake and at $22 it's a great deal. Can easily feed over 10 with thin slices or less with larger slices. By far best bakery in area. Both the Woodbridge and Edison locations are excellent. Highly recommend the Chocolate Mousse Bomb cake and Strawberry Shortcake. The chocolate mousse is delicious, light and airy and the cake super moist. Same for the Strawberry Shortcake. Also love the fact that the inside of the Strawberry Shortcake is made up of fresh strawberries and whipped cream, not strawberry jam preserves which I hate. Pastries are excellent too. Same as with the cakes, the creams and fillings are not heavy at all and very flavorful, especially the cannoli and cream puffs. Always come here when hosting parties, get togethers, when visiting friends and family and for the occasional treat. You will not be disappointed. read more

This place is good, but the guy working there yesterday is brain dead. There were 4 cupcakes, 2 banana and 2 mocha something, and I said "one of each." To him, this apparently meant 2 banana. Didn't realize that until I got home, which was a bummer. Then I asked for 6 Italian rainbow cookies. First, he grabs 6 chocolate sprinkle cookies. I say "no, the rainbow cookies" and he looks and says "we only have 2 rainbow sprinkle cookies." So, again, I tell him "6 Italian rainbow cookies" and I swear he starts to pick up a chocolate chip cookie. This time I yell "NO," and point to the rainbow cookies, which are literally 1 shelf down. He then gives me .6 lbs, or about 20 cookies. When he's ringing them out, he asks the other girl working there "what are these under?" Good lord. On a positive note, the cookies were good. A lot of people we knew in the area highly recommended this bakery so we decided to purchase a cake for our baby shower. We had already purchased our cake toppers from the internet to go with the theme of the baby shower. My fiancée & I were in La Bonbonniere trying to order a custom full sheet cake that said "IT'S A BOY" in big, bold letters with gold/blue frosting around the edges. It was two young teenagers working that night & they kept calling a woman from the Edison bakery to process the order. The woman on the phone kept pushing for us to buy one of the expensive pre-made cakes because our idea "would look bad." We weren't interested in purchasing one of the $200+ pre-made baby shower cakes, we wanted our own custom design with no toppers. The woman on the phone continued to give us a hard time, but finally placed the order as we requested. The morning of the baby shower I come to pick up the cake & it was the most half-assed cake I have ever seen in my life. It was a literally a full sheet white cake & the ITS A BOY took up like 10% of the cake. It was very obvious that they put no effort into it since we purchased a $90 custom cake instead of one of the $200+ cakes they were pushing. The cake designers put absolutely no effort into the top of the cake & there was barely any filling inside the cake. The bakery is lucky I paid for it a head of time & that the party was about to start in an hour and we needed a cake, or else I would have just left it there and refused to pay. Our family literally had to re-decorate the whole top of the cake right before the party to make it more presentable. My fiancée & I were very unhappy with the effort the bakery put into our cake, and the attitude the woman over the phone was giving us when we were placing the order. We have hosted many parties since the baby shower & we've been choosing other bakeries in the area for half the cost and the cakes looked so much better. read more
