    Filet Mignon (Tuesday Special)
    Rachel W.

Been to Carver's a couple times but this was by far my favorite experience! I wonder if management has changed or improved recently, because I really enjoyed my food AND the Tuesday special price is really good! The meat was cooked medium rare as specified and was nice and tender. I loved the salt mixture on the side that I dipped my meat into. The sides were also pretty solid too - mashed potatoes and vegetables. This was the perfect amount of food for me and I left just satisfied enough I think this place is well worth it for the Tuesday special! The service was good and my table enjoyed the bread service. My one piece of feedback is that the tables could've used more butter by default - the bread is fairly large, but there's not a whole lot of butter to go around.

We came here for a group dinner. My friends had not been to our favorite neighborhood steakhouse so we brought them. The restaurant has a great happy hour in the bar from 4-6 pm. The waitress and service staff were amazing and so helpful. The appetizers like potato skins, calamari and buttery garlic bread were yummy and a great portion. The group ordered the ribeye, filet mignon and prime rib. Everything was cooked to perfection. The included salads and side dishes were very tasty. The price of their dinners include, bread, gourmet salad, steak and side dish. It's very reasonable and well worth it. We love this fantastic, classic, cozy steakhouse.

We attended a private retirement dinner at this steakhouse. I have never been here and finding out about is great. We were seated in a large private room with a sliding door so that we could dine privately with a group of 70 others. The event host decided to offer a 2 course prix fixe menu, beer & wine included, and with delicious cupcakes as the third course. The setup was beautiful. There were 7 tables of 10 guests at each table. The room was perfect for an intimate dinner retirement celebration with family and close friends. We chose: Caesar Salad & the Prime Rib and Spinach Salad and Prime Rib. The serving staff were great. They all had smiles on their faces and they seemed to be happy to serve the party. Our salads were great with perfect portions. The salad tasted fresh as well. The Prime Rib was perfectly cooked and prepared; medium and juicy. I loved the cream horseradish sauce that they served with my Prime Rib. Overall, this was a wonderful experience and I now know that this steakhouse exists here in Rancho Bernardo. Great job!!

I uncovered Carver's looking for a place that served prime rib, which is actually harder than it seems if you want to go better than Outback, but don't want to drop $80 on a steak. Carver's has an old-school steakhouse vibe that isn't manufactured. It's not trendy, or trying to be something it's not. They have a small parlor area where you check in and a lounge/bar area in addition to the restaurant. We decided to check out the bar and lounge as we waited for our table and grabbed an Old Fashioned. When we arrived at our table we ordered the Hot and Spicy Shrimp appetizer, which we both really enjoyed. It had the right amount of heat and they had really good flavor. For dinner, I ordered the 20oz bone-in Carver Cut prime rib, which came with my choice of side (I went with fries) and a soup which upgraded to French onion. I really enjoyed the steak and fries. The French onion soup was good but I didn't realize it wasn't going to have the cheese and bread topping. Still pretty good flavor though. My BF ordered the 14-ounce New York steak with a side of au gratin potatoes and a side of Béarnaise sauce. He really enjoyed his as well and was quite impressed with how the steak was cooked and the flavors. We shared a bottle of wine as well and the whole thing with too was just under $230 which is not bad for a special occasion or an indulgent Meal. We will be happy to come back.

I can't believe I've lived in San Diego for 35 years and had never been to Carver's. I heard about it from coworkers and needed to try it. I was delighted by the cozy ambiance (darker lighting, fireplace, and huge window with twinkly lights), but the dinner was fantastic! We went to the early dinner and loved our steaks (butterflied to cook more evenly), potatoes, bread, and creme brulee' dessert! We'll definitely be back!

Brought da wife for Valentine's Day. Place was lit like a romantic movie- pedals on the floor- wine on the walls- the whole 9 yards. Service was FAST and the food was delicious. The price is unbeatable for a steak house. I would suggest getting a steak and pairing it with a nice sauce. 5 STAH

We decided to give Carvers a try because of all the good reviews. We made reservations and glad we did because it was quite busy there on a Friday night. Service was great. We had a really nice waiter who gave excellent recommendations for drinks and food. I wish I remember his name. The drink and steak prices were very reasonable. Steaks were cooked perfectly and we all had a great dinner there. We were celebrating a birthday and they gave us a complimentary dessert for free! Will definitely be back.

We had a great dinner at Carvers on a Tuesday night which worked out well as that is when they have their early bird special. If you order between 4:30 and 5:15 pm they have a fairly good special where you can get dinners such as Prime Rib or Filet Mignon for about $23 and a decent bottle of wine for $16. Please note that this does not match their website that indicates that this is for every day, not just Tuesdays so a bit of false/old advertising. I would have given them 5 stars otherwise. The 8 oz prime rib was good and the 5 oz Filet Mignon were excellent. The service by Brandon was fantastic, the decor is very nice, and there is a nice garden view. Make sure you make reservations even during the week as this is a fairly popular restaurant.

Filet Mignon trio w port demi-glace, bearnaise, & Whiskey Peppercorn Sauce. Potatoes au gratin on the side

the crab-stuffed mushrooms are our go-to; the melted cheese is so gooey & tasty, & the chunks of crab are sizable. the calamari is perfectly tender. the clam chowder is also good, w plenty of clams instead of too much potato or filler. the amount that comes w an entree is filling & shareable; it's definitely worth the $2 upgrade. (the caesar salad on the other hand is p sparse.) i also liked that there was complimentary brown bread w sweet whipped butter i normally don't care for steakhouses or restaurant roast beef, which is often much blander than what you'd make at home yet at a premium price. but carver's rib eye, filet trio, & house cut prime rib were all well seasoned, as was the jus that came w the roast. (however we preferred the chicago rib eye to the chili one, as the latter came w a pepper relish that was a bit too sweet & distracted from the good flavor of the beef. & while i liked trying all the sauces for the filet trio, next time i'll ask for them on the side bc they were all running into each other on the plate. the demi-glace was a bit sweet as well.) i especially liked the peppercorn sauce (tho it doesn't taste much of whiskey) as well as the garlic mashed potatoes. the vibe of the place seems to be a quiet neighborhood restaurant w a lot of regulars. so a lot of staff seems to be local kids, & the pace of service seems to be on the more relaxed side by design. the furniture is old & the lighting is dim (we prefer seating by the window), but at the end of the day, this is a v reliable, no-frills steakhouse that tastes better than places twice the price

Early bird 8 ounce prime rib medium rare for $31 plus $1.95 for the clam chowder
    Suzanna L.

This is a big place but was getting pretty full of people by 5 PM, which may be due to their early bird specials which end at 5:15. That's exactly why I decided to eat dinner two hours early at 4:45 PM! I can never pass up prime rib, and the 8 ounce was cut thickly and it was quite tender. My only complaint is that the temperature was lukewarm. I found the au jus not too salty. The clam chowder had chunks of clam meat but I could've used a bit more cream in the base. The place has quite the dim lighting (I initially thought my transition lenses hadn't transitioned to indoor levels yet), which, with the fireplace, created a super cozy ambiance.

Cajun Lamb Chops $14 on happy hour. Delicious.

I challenge you to find a better Sunday night special in RB: all night happy hour anywhere in the Lounge. Discounts on all appetizers and drinks. Easy parking. Dark and cozy in the Lounge with one silent TV. Great service from bartender Crystal. She recommended the lamb lollipops. You get 4 for $14 on HH and they were delicious...go easy on the ranch. She also recommended the jumbo shrimp cocktail ($12.50) and the potato skins that were a full portion for just $9. Well Old Fashioned was just $8 and craft beers were $5...love it! Should have stopped there, but had to try the prime rib dip sando that was just $8. High quality, great value. Looking forward to my next Sunday visit!

    Calamari Fritti
    Cerena P.

Really nice place with lots of seating. The menu is great, I really liked how the entrees came with a soup or salad and a side rather than ordering them all separately. The calamari was good and flavorful, I really enjoyed the fried vegetables with it as well. Only wish it had a lot more sauce, even having the sauce on the side would have been ideal because it was very good. The complimentary bread was also delicious. The entrees were subpar, my boyfriend ordered his steak to be butterflied and it was not, and because of that his steak was underdone. Also the steak was bland and he's had better elsewhere. My steak unfortunately had tons of fat on it, even trying to cut it off the fat it was still all over and inside. Every bite was squishy and it was very undercooked as some parts appeared raw. I really did enjoy the sauce on top and the mashed potatoes but the steak was so disappointing. Service was okay, slow at some parts but fast at refilling our drinks which was great. Overall it was a decent experience but not impressive enough for a return.

    Fresh fish feature with vegetable
    Serene L.

Restaurant is tucked away in Bernardo Center, behind Peet's. Exceptional service service, quality and value. We were a group of 5, seated in a quiet room. It was very spacious in the room unlike the main dining hall. Started with the calamari, it isn't the usual, this came with (I wanna say) Mayo spicy drizzle. The onion soup came with onion strings. The soup was rich. Very tasty. It was also very filling. Chose the fresh fish feature with vegetable, love that the broccoli still has some bite and not mushy. My fish has a crab cream sauce. Love that sauce. Key lime pie was light, tangy and creamy. Definitely a must-try.

Ask the Community - Carver's Steak & Chops

Can they accommodate groups of 15+?

Yes. I'd call in advance. I believe they have 2 "private" rooms you may access. One could accommodate 30+. I don't know of the details to book

    Do they have outdoor dining?

No they don't but they had an atrium with no seating, more of a view

    Is there a corkage fee?

    yes but reasonable

Are they open for take out now?

No, sorry. They are not. 😕

    Do they serve prime beef?

    Yes and it is awsome

Is there a gluten free menu? (I have Celiac Disease)

Yes! Just ask the hostess 😋

Do you have an early bird or daily special? If yes, can you give an idea of the price and what it would be.

    2-3 specials daily $30+

Is Carvers open on Thanksgiving Day and if so, will they have a special menu for Thanksgiving or will it be their everyday menu? I'm asking because we like having steak and prime rib on Thanksgiving and we thought about having our Thanksgiving…

Yeah they are open. $29 for turkey or prime rib plus stuffing, mash, etc..I'd make a reservation first..

I'm glad this place gives me the space to do that. I want to go back to try different dishes and wines, browse the shops, and save room for dessert! We ordered Calabrese Pizza, Apple & Gorgonzola Pizza, Parmesan Fries, and Rigatoni & Vodka Sauce Pasta. My goodness, everything was GOOD! The Apple & Gorgonzola Pizza was my favorite, pure perfection of flavors. I know there's always a debate with pineapple on pizza but this apple and gorgonzola makes sense, I don't think anyone would ever question it. The parmesan fries was so yummy as well, you get a HEFTY amount. We actually didn't finish a good amount and took this home along with a few slices of pizza. Pasta was delicious as well, there was leftover pasta sauce that we just scooped up with the crust of the pizza. The ambience - amazing and beautiful. It is pretty spread out. I've only been here a couple times but I was able to find a table both times aside from the good amount of people the times I've came. We sat inside the tasting room and the food came out promptly. I do love that on hot days they will turn their misters on, great touch Way to keep us cool! We decided to do the Traditional Wine Tasting where you get six 1.5 oz pours of your choice for $32. Also, you can get free chocolate to pair with your wine at the dessert shop. Delicious, everything I ordered was what I needed. Everyone here just seems incredibly nice. From the people who took your order at the Kitchen, food runners, pourers, even the lady at the dessert shop (even though we didn't get any dessert lol) was friendly. We wanted to get dessert, but we had 15 minutes left till closing, however she didn't rush us out the outside area. I saw that there was a sugar free pistachio gelato flavor. I love that, seems like it was a hit because it was nearly all out! Next time I do go, I definitely want to try that and their cannolis!!! I love Cannolis. Anyways, back to the wine tasting, I believe her name is Cecilia (?), She was great. Great service along with the other pourer at the counter. I did not catch her name but she has blonde short hair and was very nice and friendly as well! Overall, 10/10, & I will be back very soon.

I also love that they have a café, a pizza vendor, and live music, all of which elevate the overall experience and create a relaxed, inviting atmosphere. One of my favorite wines is the La Dame Blanche, a beautiful Grenache Blanc with notes of citrus, white peach, and toasted almonds. It's crisp, refreshing, and incredibly well-balanced. Domaine Artefact has quickly become one of my go-to wineries. Whether you're a seasoned wine enthusiast or just looking for a beautiful place to unwind with friends and family, I highly recommend paying them a visit.

We had such a good time here for movie night! Bob was a delight. We knew we wanted a bottle to…read moreshare between the two of us for the movie, and after asking us a few questions, he picked the perfect one. We were sold immediately! We watched Under the Tuscan Sun and it gave us all the feels. We will definitely be back to do a proper tasting and check out the estate and cafe once it's fully open. Pro-Tip: They have a pizza vendor on site, but they ran out by the time we got there at 6:00 PM. Definitely get there earlier and order sooner rather than later!
