This place is fantastic! Whether you want to come for a date, with friends, or family - I think this place is great for all. I love the feeling of unwinding and I don't feel rushed. I'm glad this place gives me the space to do that. I want to go back to try different dishes and wines, browse the shops, and save room for dessert! Perhaps I will come on a Friday since they have a farmer's market that day from 9am-1 pm! I had a date night and went on a Saturday, 2 hours before closing. We ordered Calabrese Pizza, Apple & Gorgonzola Pizza, Parmesan Fries, and Rigatoni & Vodka Sauce Pasta. My goodness, everything was GOOD! The Apple & Gorgonzola Pizza was my favorite, pure perfection of flavors. I know there's always a debate with pineapple on pizza but this apple and gorgonzola makes sense, I don't think anyone would ever question it. The parmesan fries was so yummy as well, you get a HEFTY amount. We actually didn't finish a good amount and took this home along with a few slices of pizza. Pasta was delicious as well, there was leftover pasta sauce that we just scooped up with the crust of the pizza. The ambience - amazing and beautiful. It is pretty spread out. I've only been here a couple times but I was able to find a table both times aside from the good amount of people the times I've came. We sat inside the tasting room and the food came out promptly. I do love that on hot days they will turn their misters on, great touch Way to keep us cool! We decided to do the Traditional Wine Tasting where you get six 1.5 oz pours of your choice for $32. Also, you can get free chocolate to pair with your wine at the dessert shop. Delicious, everything I ordered was what I needed. Everyone here just seems incredibly nice. From the people who took your order at the Kitchen, food runners, pourers, even the lady at the dessert shop (even though we didn't get any dessert lol) was friendly. We wanted to get dessert, but we had 15 minutes left till closing, however she didn't rush us out the outside area. I saw that there was a sugar free pistachio gelato flavor. I love that, seems like it was a hit because it was nearly all out! Next time I do go, I definitely want to try that and their cannolis!!! I love Cannolis. Anyways, back to the wine tasting, I believe her name is Cecilia (?), She was great. Great service along with the other pourer at the counter. Dare I say this is the best pizza in North County!? We were wow'd by the flavors of the apple & gorgonzola, but the calabrese was also a testament to how well they've nailed the basics. Delicious from the toppings to the crust and paired perfectly with the wine! They also had a small sweets shop with gelato. Today I went to the Bernardo winery for lunch & it was amazing! They had a farmers market until 1pm on Friday morning as you walk into the winders & it was awesome I got some veggies & fresh flowers. My husband and I were looking for a place to get out of the house after several weeks cooped up with our newborn. Bernardo Winery was the perfect place to get our feet wet back in the world as new parents. Parking was stress free. The winery is very spread out so we didn't feel strange bringing our stroller and there were plenty of seat yourself options that were shaded outside. We sat and drank our wine glasses and tastings in the restaurant seating area. Baby slept through the whole journey before we turned back home to San Diego. My husband really liked his pizza that he ordered. I got the vodka rigatoni which was also pretty good. I got a mixed wine flight with some reds and whites. Okay this spot is super fun to go to. They have it decorated for Christmas so it's really fun and beautiful. They have various shops as well as vendors who come and set up shop. Everyone is super friendly. The tasting room as a nice old school classical leather couch, dark wood vibe to it. Only thing missing is a fire place. There is a stray cat that roams the tasting room so beware if you are allergic. Ale is the gentleman who helped us with our tasting about $70 including tip for 2 people. 6 wines of your choice. If you and your friend/family aren't too squeamish about germs then you can taste almost everything they have. The tasting doesn't include ports Ale was great, the servers have great personality and I really enjoyed talking with him. During your tasting you go across the way to the gelato spot and the lovely woman gives u a chocolate wafer pairing with each one. 30 to 70% cocoa, really nice touch. The shops are very boutique and come with that glorious boutique price we all dread. But I really like that it's something to look at and walk around while you drink your tasting. The brick oven pizza is $20. The crust was good. Food isn't mind blowing. It's not fancy at all, it's served in all to go containers, and the paper plates were the kind that u have the stack 4 together so it doesn't fall apart. Not saying this as a bad thing. Just saying this place is not fancy at all. There's also a coffee shop. I really wish the prices of the things in the shops weren't SOOO expensive. I could tell the stuff was collecting dust big time. $40 a bottle of wine, plus food, and then they want u to spend $100+ on Knick knacks. Kind of felt like they were trying to take advantage of people being buzzed and happy from the wine tasting. My husband and I have been members here for almost 3 years and have enjoyed it very much. We tend to come in the evenings and often are helped by Marilyn. She is a lovely woman who always has a smile on her face and remembers our conversation from the last visit. I enjoy coming in and talking to her. It just makes our time there even better. Our go to winter favorites are the mulled wine paired with the Vince's salad and apple and Gorgonzola pizza. We enjoy it the crisp nights sitting under the cozy lights and tower heaters. Always beautiful scenery. You can grab your glass of wine and wander through the shops or sit and grab a bite to eat and one of the many tables and seating areas located around the winery. The Sunday we went there was a sort of craft fair going on so there were lots of neat places where you could buy everything from cookies to homemade trinkets and gifts. Great shopping for the holidays! It was pretty busy and the lots were full but we were able to find some near by street parking. I bought a glass of bubbly which was good but somehow there ended up being a charge for $30 on my credit card. I left a decent tip but did not think more than the glass of bubbly itself. It was busy and unfortunately I did not see until we had been home. The staff was nice though, talkative and very helpful. They also had wood fired pizza and some pastas avail for purchase. This is one of the coolest venues in San Diego. The history is wonderful and it's still owned and run by the same family. I have been here multiple times over the years for various events and always enjoyed myself. My last visit was to see the band Billy Nation (a Billy Joel cover band). They are really good and one of the members is one of the owners and winemaker (I believe). They play all over but it was the first time I'd seen them at the winery. They set up chairs in the courtyard and you can order food and wine to enjoy during the show. The string lighting adds to the ambiance and makes you feel like you are in a truly special place. I didn't eat this time but I have in the past and enjoyed the pasta & pizza. I have also been able to find wines that I've liked over the years too! They also have adorable little shops and an ice cream & sweets shop that you can visit during regular hours and during the concerts. Definitely a fun night and I will always come back. read more

Aloha all! It was a warm afternoon and my Sis and I made a trek out to Bernardo Winery for lunch and some quality time together. We dropped in to have lunch at the Bernardo Winery Kitchen and the food, drink and service there was excellent. We ordered a BW Salad with Salmon and a Chicken Pesto Pizza. The salad with its mixed greens, candied walnuts, goat cheese, red onions, roasted tomato and vinaigrette was perfect with the side of salmon we requested. It was a meal in itself for two. Sis wanted me to try the Chicken Pesto Pizza she ordered on her previous visit and I was happy I had a chance to try it although we ended up taking half of it home. All ingredients were fresh and delicious and the crisp and refreshing glasses of Chardonnay 2024 paired well with our meal. There are a couple of retail shops that were open and we strolled the meandering pathways past them and the neighboring vineyards. We ended our walk at a quaint little gelato/candy store for two cups of cool, sweet and tangy scoops of Strawberry Mojito and Mango Gelato. The restaurant is now owned by the winery, and the ordering system has shifted to a more casual setup where you order at the counter, get a number, and they bring the food out to you. We tried two pizzas ( you can't do substitutions) and truffle fries, which were also just decent. Not bad, but not necessarily memorable. The true standout of the day, though, was the grounds. The property is absolutely beautiful. lush, peaceful, and perfect for strolling around with a glass of wine in hand. Even with the changes over the years, the charm of the winery's setting is still there and may be the main reason to visit. TLDR : If you're coming for an incredible meal or exceptional wine, you might be underwhelmed. Bernardo winery is a cute little place. It would be much more enjoyable if we could bring our dog. Unlike other wineries that are dog friendly. This place is not that special . Some of the shops are very cute . But they are kind of precious and not really something you would want to shop at unless you were buying a gift for somebody and don't mind overpaying. Since this is a free country and this is private property, I understand they choose to say no pets and we choose to spend our money elsewhere. read more

My husband and I have been taking our 2 year old here for a while, almost twice a week because it's a safe space for him be outside and watching lizards and playing in the open space. We have had no issues until recently. My son is always supervised very closely but he is a boy and it makes him happy to explore. Most of the time he just runs around looking into the bushes for lizards or holding his small truck and playing with it. One time, I brought him a toy RC truck to play (because he saw a group of kids played with their RC truck there before); we make sure he doesn't get in the way or cause any problem with guests there. In fact, none of the guests were ever bothered by my son as he usually just keeps to himself, being his playful self and never destructive. A lady who worked there walked up to us and told us he's not allowed to have toys there and blocking the road. It was a toy truck, and no one else's way was affected by him. But rules are rules and we understand. He was disappointed because he saw kids played with bigger trucks just the day before. It just feels very anti kids here in this winery. He loves the art shop and we have been considerate about him touching stuff and whether he touched or played around with we would purchase. Anything he drops, we buy so that we respect the place and the items and wouldn't just mess without it without buying it. But the short hair lady with a bob always looks so bothered by my son whenever we enter the shop and we just feel very unwelcomed there. Last night, my husband couldn't watch him and I had to watch him for just a short bit while I order my wine, usually, I hold him in my arms but the party in front of me took too long and my toddler was getting fussy, I waited so long so I thought if he plays with his toy car for a couple minutes I could get the wine when it's my turn and leave shortly. I am aware of the 21+ rules so I know I'm not supposed to have him in there but no one else could watch him and it would just take a minute once it was my turn. He was playing with his truck without being destructive or getting in anyone's way. I understand rules are there for a reason but there should be some compassion when it comes to kids, when they're playing so innocently without being destructive. The young long hair lady gave me a look and told me he can't have his toy around. I waited in line so long at this point but I felt very unwelcome and so I picked up my boy and left without even getting to order the wine. I understand I did break the rules by having him in there but it's hard being a parent multitasking when I had to and my boy is always closely supervised. What irked me was the way it was said, if it was said nicely I would have apologized for breaking the rules and take him out. She made me feel like my son was being destructive when there was barely any guest where he was playing and he wasn't in anyone's way. My order would have taken me less than 3 mins. I just overall feel really irked by my experience when it comes to my son being here, even in the outside space that claims to be kid friendly. As convenient as this place is for my son, the wine isn't the greatest and they seem to have zero compassion towards children, this just gave me the ick and we will probably cancel our membership and look elsewhere. We all were kids and parents once, just treat each other with a little compassion and less stiff on the rules when appropriate, every situation and people are different and a little humanity doesn't hurt. I would like to state too I get that it's the rules and technically I can't complain. But I am making a comment regarding the energy and vibes towards kids here. There is always a nicer way to go about things than the way I was approached. This rule (as also stated on the website) that kids must remain seated and running is not permitted, it is unrealistic when it comes to children. children naturally like to be playful, it's much healthier than being on the phone or iPads and I feel like as long as it's not disruptive or negatively impacting other guests. despite great atmosphere this winery is very anti kid ‍ which is a bummer. Think twice about this place if you have kids and want to look for a nice spot for them to hang out. This won't be the place for you. read more

They have carolers, a polar express mini train exhibit, glass blowing demo, food trucks, local vendors, village shops, and of course wine tasting!! I had the spiced mulled wine which was a hot drink. The flavors of all the spices and temperature of the drink made me feel warm. I also got the iced sangria and that was really fruity and light. The Xmas tree decor and lighting really brought the Xmas spirit. There were many fire pits and areas to sit and enjoy your wine and food. Lots of cool art and everyone was so super nice! i bought some really pretty blue coasters for my table and love them, the artist was very helpful and had a very interesting life she told us all about!
