Sales rep was good. once I started signing paperwork things got worse 1. told me there was a second key FOB in the back - then when they could not find it said it never existed. Cost to replace $800 2. did not have licence plate holder and were unwilling to provice one. 3. Sales manager was arogant and not helpful. 4. turns out car was from Canada and US dealerships will not service it, Including working on a recall. The VIN is not listed in any of the US databases. Part numbers in US are different. The Genisis connect (satelite services and remote entry, etc,) does not work with US based mobile services. basically, you may find a good deal there but they are not customer service oriented if you have issues. read more

I strongly recommend avoiding CarWise Gurnee. The biggest issue was the finance department and what I consider an extremely misleading $1,500 GAP insurance charge. While signing the paperwork, the finance representative told me GAP insurance was included with my Wells Fargo financing. I SPECIFICALLY asked him if there was an additional cost, and his response was, "Not that I'm aware of." Based on that answer, I moved on. As we were already past their closing time, and I was eager to get home. The next Morning I take my new car to the car wash because strangely the outside is dirty, but they cleaned the inside... As I'm going through the car wash, the sunroof starts leaking directly into my lap. Not a small drip, but I constant stream. This led me to review my paperwork And see if there was any sort of warranty to have this fixed by them and discovered they had charged me $1,500 for GAP insurance. Had he simply told me, "GAP costs $1,500," I would have immediately declined it. Instead, I had to find the charge myself, return to the dealership, confront them about what I had been told, and demand that it be canceled and refunded. There is absolutely no excuse for a finance representative to not clearly disclose a $1,500 optional product when directly asked if it costs extra. They also failed to promptly pay off my trade-in. Almost two weeks later, I had to make another payment on a vehicle I NO LONGER OWN. When I called CarWise asking when they planned to pay it off and how I would be reimbursed for the payment their delay forced me to make, I was basically told, "I'm not sure. You'll have to figure that out with the bank." Completely unacceptable. Back to the sunroof leak I brought it to their attention, and they acted like they couldn't care less. I had just purchased the vehicle from them, yet once the sale was complete, the problem was apparently mine. Communication after the sale has been horrible. Getting someone on the phone who can actually answer a question is nearly impossible. You get transferred around, sent to voicemail, and left chasing people. Nobody seems willing to take responsibility for anything. There were smaller issues as well that just added to the experience. They sold me the car with the gas tank on E despite promising to put gas in it before I left. The only gas in it was $15 worth I had purchased myself during the test drive. Liz promised to reimburse me up to $30, and almost two weeks later, I still haven't received it. They also failed to provide me with a Carfax at the time of purchase. The only real positive was that they gave me a fair value for my trade. I bought from CarWise because they happened to have the exact vehicle and specifications I had been searching for. I genuinely wish I had kept looking. The $1,500 GAP situation alone destroyed my trust in this dealership. Add the delayed trade payoff, leaking sunroof immediately after purchase, terrible communication, and complete lack of follow-through, and I would NEVER recommend CarWise Gurnee. They were very interested in helping me until the paperwork was signed. After that, I felt like I was on my own. Do yourself a favor and buy somewhere else. read more

These add-ons were presented as non-negotiable condition of the sale. This conduct is in direct violation of the Illinois Motor Vehicle Advertising Regulations, which expressly prohibit the sale of a vehicle above its advertised price and require all material terms to be clearly and prominently disclosed at the outset of any offer. It further violates the Federal Trade Commission's Combating Auto Retail Scams Rule, which mandates that all mandatory add-ons be incorporated into the advertised offering price of the vehicle. Advertising one price while requiring consumers to pay a higher price through undisclosed mandatory charges is, without qualification, an unfair and deceptive business practice under Illinois and federal consumer protection law. Message to Managers/ Owner at Car Wise Gurnee. I Youlonda Richards- Wilkins Purchased a 2019 Infiniti QX80 Black Truck last year March "2025" WITH A WARRANTY! The day I drove it off the lot (On a Saturday evening) I noticed some ticking/clicking noises. It was too late to take it back to the Dealership, so I waited until Monday (less then 48 hours later)I called to take it back for another inspection. (They tell you they do a full inspection all Vehicles- I guess mine was missed)I got an appointment & took my Truck in to be serviced. They kept my Truck for awhile (weeks) gave it back saying nothing was wrong with it. I ask for a invoice when I got it back to see what they did & nothing was given to me. I still requested it & still nothing. They said it was checked out & nothing is wrong with my Truck that I complained about over & over throughout the year "2025" I took my Truck to Infiniti of Orland Park to get inspected. They said it was something wrong with the Engine. I called Car Wise spoke to Paul (Service Manager) that same day, told them what I was told by Infiniti made a appointment to take it in so they can fix it. I took it in once again, gave them the Invoice that Infiniti gave me so they'll know what's going on with my vehicle. They got it in the shop, kept it for awhile, told me they sent it to another shop to get it checked out & said they ordered a piece for my Engine. I get a call days later to come pick up my Truck. I go pick it up & they said nothing was wrong with it. They said it's the Engine (V8)that's making that sound. I told them I traded my (V8) QX56 Infiniti in to you all to get this Truck & my QX56 didn't make that sound. I again asked for a invoice & didn't get it. I called many times & complained about the Clicking / Ticking and nothing was ever done to correct a problem that I noticed in the very beginning when I brought the Truck. They could have traded out Vehicles in the very beginning if they wasn't going to fix it. I brought my Truck back for another problem, but I always mentioned the clicking/ticking when talking to them hoping they'll do something about it. The Truck was (dropping in the back on both sides) they fixed that, but while it was in Car Wise Possession, it was in a accident. I was called & told a Tow Truck was letting down a car & it was too close to my Truck & it scrapped the Driver side of my Truck. I HAD NO GOOD EXPERIENCE WITH BUYING MY TRUCK FROM CAR WISE GURNEE!!!! I had to complain over & over for them to fix my Truck somewhat the right way from that accident. I'm still not happy with my Truck or the noise it makes. I took my Truck to Infiniti of Naperville. My Truck is still under warranty. I took it where I felt it would get serviced at instead of taking it where they'll keep it for weeks & then say come pick it up without a invoice. I wonder if they ever did anything while it was in their possession. Infiniti of Naperville confirmed again that it was a Engine problem. They Contact My/the Warranty Company. The warranty company had them to take the Truck apart so they can see what's going on. Again it's confirmed through them it's the Engine. They wanted info on what Car Wise did the times they had my Truck in 2025. I couldn't give it to them because they never gave me invoices when I picked my Truck up. I would tell them to txt it, email or mail it to me, they never did. I ended up talking to someone in the Warranty dept. Tuesday 4-21-26. We both called Car Wise together but it was a little early. They said they would call later to get the info on what they did to My Truck when I brought it in to get serviced in the year "2025" I was told a week later the Warranty Company will not pay to fix my Truck because It was Messed up when I brought it. My Truck now sits at Infiniti of Naperville (all broken down) I have a Warranty that I brought though Car Wise Gurnee that won't fix my Truck. I need to know what Car Wise Gurnee plan to do with my Truck that has a Warranty, that has a Engine problem I complained about since I got it. read more

They hit us with the ol' bait and switch, just like other reviews are saying... We are TN residents that were visiting family near Joliet, IL (about a 90 min drive with tolls to Gurnee). I called ahead about a fairly priced 2019 Ford Expedition. I specifically asked if there were additional fees or costs that we would encounter at the dealership if we drove all the way out there to buy the vehicle. The rep told us that there were optional warranties but NOTHING mandatory and we wouldn't be charged ANY other additional fees or costs. The listing online specifically stated that the documentation fee of $366 was included in the NO HAGGLE price. When we got there, the mileage on the vehicle was about 1,500 miles OVER the mileage listed online. The documentation fee WAS NOT included in the no haggle price. AND WORST OF ALL, there was a $1000 MANDATORY add on for their CarChief electronic monitoring system that they have installed on their vehicles. They would NOT sell the car without it. Sooo, they falsely advertised the mileage, they falsely advertised that the documentation fee was included, and the rep lied about additional costs. We questioned the sales rep on all of this and he left us at his desk. The manager came back instead of him, and the first thing he said was, "My sales associate told me that you don't wish to move forward with the Expedition but if you ever want to come back and look at other vehicles, please let us know." We responded with telling him that we never said that, but we questioned the false information. He became defensive and would not admit any wrongdoing. The car was still priced fairly, even with the $1000 add on, but the principal of it all remains. I can't recommend this dealership due to their lack of transparency, honesty, and willingness to own up to any of it. read more

Avoid this place at all costs. My salesman Will was nothing short of a liar. The vehicle he sold me had so much rust underneath that two different mechanic shops wouldn't even touch it. The third said it was the worst they've ever seen. I bought the vehicle 4 months ago and haven't driven it yet bc its been in the shop since it arrived. A $30,000 nightmare. Be careful with the add ons. I was very happy with the process except with the add ons they insisted I buy. That was one downside. Second is after the purchase and driving it for a couple days I came to find the rear magneride shocks were locked up and rear windshield wiper motor was extremely loud and failing. They sold me a contract which should have covered everything but the contract company is refusing to cover the repairs due to not getting the prebuy inspection report from the dealer. We have both called the dealer multiple times and left multiple emails to no avail. I am very close to taking this to the next level. read more

Polite and helpful until you sign the paperwork for the car.  After that point, they are unprofessional and disrespectful.  I have a problem with the taxes paid for the car, I contacted the dealership 3 times, left a message at the web-site requesting a call back and I have not heard anything. This is unacceptable.  To potential new customers, I would suggest educating yourself about related taxes or better go somewhere else. read more

Don't buy a car from them if you can't see it in person. I bought a car from Carwise Gurnee a month ago, and the process and the honesty of their staff were disappointing. From the beginning, I did not receive the respect or service I expected. First, they added unwanted packages to the final price, and when I asked to remove them, they insisted on keeping at least one, which I neither wanted nor use. I requested a FaceTime call to view the car since I am in California and couldn't travel to Chicago, but they refused. I had to ask for videos, which only highlighted the car's good aspects. Important details like a service due 10,000 miles ago were only visible because I spotted it in the video, otherwise, this would have never been disclosed. When I asked about the overdue service, I never got an answer about what the car needed to do. Only after insisting on videos did I learn about a faulty light and a seat belt that needed repair (which was not properly fixed). The car also arrived with the passenger door inside cover loose and significant paint issues on the hood that were never mentioned, which looks like a 5 year old kid used a brush to paint and hide the dents and the work is horrible. After delivery, my mechanic found a broken brake cable support, which causes loud noises and should have been noticed and disclosed by the seller. There are more issues, but I believe this is enough for future customers to be aware of how they operate. read more

I left the car dealership with the utmost intention to leave a great review; however things rapidly changed. Within last 2 weeks I've sent the sales person three emails, left the Finance Manger a voicemail and a message in the general mailbox - no response. It's been two weeks and my existing car loan has not been paid off - I was calling to get an update. Additionally, the Sales Manager that sold me the car advised during the sale that there were two keys, I was given one, so I was calling and emailing to confirm. i'm not from Illinois however I do expect when I ask about a car if it's been inspected to be told the inspected apparently that is not the case or the law there. Also beware of trying to sell you a package telling you that you need to purchase it and if you opt out, you still have to pay $1000 for some anti-theft thing that they've invested in and that is not the case look it up for yourself I don't like this type of sales tactic and in fact, it made me go to Carmax as a result, also I did not expect to hear from the sales person when I said why do you really have some bad reviews out there because you wouldn't be able to tell unless you really dig to be told that customers are stupid I guess that was a red flag. I walked away. I normally don't make a habit of posting negative reviews I really have nothing to gain here.
