Thank goodness for honest people. I had my oil changed at one of those quick oil change shops. They advised me that there was a leak in the transmission coolant line that they could not repair but they had a friend down the road who could. The D Wells people looked it over, while also performing a top-to-bottom check and could find nothing wrong, saving me around $2000. I have only terrific things to say about D Wells. do not go to D Wells they are a scam i went with my van it needed some work on engine they told me $4600 I payed and got it back, check engine came on the next day and some other issues started happening so I went back after hole day of waiting Chris told me to my face when I asked what's wrong ( put a bullet in it ) after $4600 Chris told me put a bullet in it and charged me another $200 for ??? and he told me they have no idea how to fix it I went to dodge dealer and will see how much damage they did. do Not go to D -wells I feel very disappointed ripped off after using them for some times they laugh at my face after taking $4600 and sanding me off to elsware. I've used no one else for 20 years. The staff is courteous and friendly. The service is always done correctly and on a reasonable time scale. I've had 2 Honda Pilots, one 13 years old, a Honda Civic, a 20 year old Jeep Wrangler, a 2020 Chevy Colorado truck, and a 15 year old Chevy Blazer, all serviced to last and last and last. The Wrangler had 200,000 miles on it. Admittedly, D Wells is not cheap, but not as much, and much more comfortable to deal with than the last time I went to a dealer ( I went for a service recall, most of which D Wells can do, but not all.) Of course, by now they know me by name and by sight, and I trust them to do what needs doing, and that their recommendations are for the good of the automobile, not just to generate revenue. Car leaking coolant is significant issue. Tried have issue diagnosed and fixed. Rather , they were unable to diagnose coolant leak and state it's holding coolant. Drove the car home only to find it's now dumping coolant on driveway. Not a good experience, trust is now lost. I will go else where from now on.. still took my money for diagnostic fee. read more

We have been taking our two older vehicles there for several years now and could not be more pleased with their uncanny ability to find and fix any problems that our vehicles seem to provide. Today it was an alternator on my 2013 Ford Flex that required replacement. It took a couple of trips to determine what was causing the start up issues, but they found it and now it starts like new. We have an '05 Honda Odyssey van and plan to keep it forever. The headlight covers were getting quite cloudy, but it was a LOT of money to replace both of the headlights. We got estimates of about 1,100 - 1,500 dollars. You can't replace just the covers, apparently. Honda doesn't do that. D. Wells suggested their cleaning process, so we tried it. The covers look MUCH better. They look crystal clear, and our headlights are a lot brighter now. And, it was $130. Very satisfied. Would recommend. read more

Avoid this shop at all costs. Rip off artists at work here. Charged us $28 per spark plug for a plug that retails for $12. Our car has 16 plugs, so that's a $250 over-charge. They initially insisted the price was correct, but later admitted their "mistake" and refunded some money, Also, their courtesy inspection is a joke. They totally missed that the car needed new brakes, causing us to have to service the brakes while we were 1700 miles from home. Maybe you will have a better experience. Roll the dice and find out. read more

With over 125,000 miles on it I wanted to know what could be done to improve the ride as I expect to keep this vehicle for several more years. Well, I was not disappointed with the thorough report D. Wells provided, and the resulting ride improvement after they replaced the shocks and struts and needed tire alignment. It rides once again as the day I drove it new from the showroom and I could not be more pleased. Took my car in for brake repair...They gave me a complete rundown of issues that need to be fixed. I fixed the safety issue problems for the tune of $1500 plus....2 weeks later, the car broke down with a blown engine. There was never any mention of an issue with the engine, or anything leading up to it. And let me tell you...when I received the text message with all of my detailed car issues, I was impressed. They used to be 5 stars but no longer communicate properly. They agreed to install a part I provided. Left the car with them on a Wednesday. Called to check progress Friday morning. They said it might be ready Friday afternoon but definitely by noon Saturday. They called Saturday morning and said they weren't going to do the repair. Too difficult and they weren't comfortable doing it. They obviously didn't give the car a look unto that morning. I sent a personal snail mail letter to Dave Wells expressing my displeasure after being a satisfied customer for 25 years. He did not respond so I placed a negative review on his site which they refused to post. I asked why not post? No response to that either. This business has reached a point where they have too many customers so losing one means nothing to them. Quite a shame. Ultimately I had a local mechanic in WI install the part for $167. The car runs beautifully. I recommend AAA in Vernon Hills for repair work. They overcommunicate and warranty their work for 2 years. read more

Had a very good experience with the team at D Wells. I stopped by to get a feel for what size tires I could put on my Ram 1500.. I expected to be upsold and rushed. Dave was awesome - he walked around the truck with me and talked through my options. He gave me 3 quotes for different tires and actually recommended the cheapest tire as the best option for me given my needs. They ordered the tires and called me later in week to let me know they had arrived. I sat in lobby for 2 hours while tires were being put on and watched the team interact with customers. They were extremely friendly and fair - they helped customers understand what they needed and were upfront about cost and made recommendations. The guys in the shop were polite and invited customers to verify their observations and work. One of the tires needed more air than the other and Dave coordinated a replacement for the next day and made sure it was taken care of without any involvement from me. I was really impressed by how many positive interactions there were - really a great business. read more

My mother brought her car in for a problem with her window. The did not bother to even diagnose the problem before ordering a $389 non returnable part which turned out to not be the problem. They did however hold her car hostage until she paid for a part that she didn't need plus the labor which consisted of ordering a part she didn't need. NEVER bringing my vehicles here and neither will anyone else i know including my mother. read more
