There were moments where I was in so much pain I almost tapped out. The other employees from the guest relations to the nail artists and other massage therapists were top notch. The atmosphere is a little underwhelming as you have to walk through a gym to get there and the spa is quite small but it was worth the skill and customer service that all but one employee offered! I wanted to get this done prior to starting chemo so I could still have natural-looking brows during treatment. Unfortunately, 100% of the pigment that Maria put on my eyebrows fell out, despite following her care instructions. I informed her of this and sent a photo of my plain brows, stating that I am starting treatment any minute and will be unable to do anything that may compromise my immune system such as getting a tattoo, for at least the next year. At this time I requested a refund. She has refused to disperse a refund stating that her disclaimers her clients sign state this could happen. A flimsy "disclaimer" does not excuse a business from providing good service and exercising good judgement. I do not recommend trusting Maria with your money nor your brows.

She was not happy that my statement that I was having fun getting my edgy, highly texturized short hair just a bit longer was not honored, as my hair was significantly shorter than when I first came in. I stressed that I wanted a soft, super texturized haircut with lot of tendrils and such. The owner has a gorgeous cut, with tons of soft texture, much like what I was looking for. For a reason that I cannot fathom, she cut most of my hair off the back of my head almost to the scalp. She kept going up the back of my head with the comb and scissors and I could not figure out why. Now, looking at it at home, I guess I know why...there are little patches in this very short hair that are sticking straight out, which she was clearly trying to fix. It's like a series of harsh chop marks with a slightly longer patch in the middle. It looks absolutely bizarre and awful. It's also cut super short where I have a natural cowlick, so it legit looks like I have a bald spot back there. I cannot understand why she cut my hair so very, very short, even though we had discussed repeatedly that I was growing it a bit. I am pretty fearless with my hair, and it takes a lot to rattle me. I left the salon shaking, got in my car and had a panic attack, and now looking at the back, am wondering how it will even be possible to fix this. I am guessing someone will have to pretty much shave the back of my head. Everyone in there had the most amazing haircuts. Next level cool. Beautiful salon with the nicest people. I'm absolutely gutted. I want my long twirls and funky tendrils back. It will take a year to get back to where I was. My wife and I were in Short Pump and decided we wanted to schedule our couples spa day so she called the Short Pump location. I was sitting beside her and they were on speaker phone while she scheduled. They kindly asked if "your husband" would be ok with a male massage therapist. This is a no for me and always will be. It's my personal preference and will never change. My wife said no and they told us it would be about a month before they could accommodate us. We showed up on our scheduled date after working extra late the day before because it takes us an hour to drive to this location and we know it would take up our whole day. After sitting in my sauna for 20 minutes I sat there waiting for 10 minutes for my therapist, who, to my surprise was a male. I explained I did not want a male therapist. He was polite and I thought was going to tell me to wait a few minutes while he figured this out. Instead he said "go ahead and get dressed and go to the front". So that's what I did expecting an employee or manager to come figure out what needed to be done. It's also important to know once he told me this I told him to tell my wife because I know she would have gotten up and left. He said to me "Oh, she's probably started her treatment". He did not walk me to the front or talk to me after in any way. The staff sat at the front desk whispering back and forth so much that I felt uncomfortable and decided to wait outside. 2.5 hours later I get a call saying it's time for my facial. I explained what happened and told them it was a terrible experience and they said sorry and I won't be charged. She also said she would have a manager contact me. Guess what, not contact has been made to me directly. However, my wife called and let them know just how bad and unprofessional this experience was. The manager, Kendall, agreed and said this is unacceptable and she was going to contact upper management to see what they could do. After Kendall failed to contact my wife as promised she called her. Now Kendall told my wife I lied, that never happened, there staff did nothing wrong and they could offer me 20% off if I come back in. Let me be clear on how I feel about Scents and Serenity. I would rather chew my own fingers off than step foot into that spa again. I will eat the money I wasted on this place rather than be treated so badly, called a liar and listen to the excuses the staff made to protect their mistakes. It was clear and I heard my wife directly state I wanted a female therapist and they agreed and scheduled a later date. Oh, let me also explain that my wife probably hadn't even started her session and had a female therapist. They easily could have corrected this by switching. We would have been completely fine with that. And time wasn't an issue. We started 10 minutes early to the excuse of "you wouldn't have gotten all your time" is irrelevant. Look, I'm sure people may love that place. Everything is good until it isn't and the way the manager handled this showed my their attitude towards all their clients behind closed doors and money is the only thing that matters to them.
