Loved this spa except for the ONE employee that was incredibly unprofessional. My entire staff went and she did a pedicure on one of my patient coordinators and complained about how sore she was the entire time. Luck of the draw, I had her for a massage. She did my 1.5 hour massage in 1 hour and then tried to argue that she did it for 1.5. She was quite unprofessional during that two and I just opted to go to sleep (or try to). There were moments where I was in so much pain I almost tapped out. The other employees from the guest relations to the nail artists and other massage therapists were top notch. The atmosphere is a little underwhelming as you have to walk through a gym to get there and the spa is quite small but it was worth the skill and customer service that all but one employee offered! I got a pedicure here which I don't recommend. The spa is very outdated and not relaxing at all. The pedicure area is 3 chairs (no massage chairs) and large bowls for your feet (not hooked up to a faucet or jets . Just actual bowls with water in it) . The water was Lukewarm and got colder as time went on. The only reason I'm giving any stars is because the people working there were very nice and did a good job. read more

My friend and I came in on a Saturday for two last minute facials. They were able to accommodate us at the same appointment time which was nice. I got the Vivace Classic Facial. My esthetician's name was Uniqua B, pronounced Unique- wah. She was friendly, knowledgeable and did an amazing facial. She walked me through each step, which I really appreciate. She always made sure to ask if my skin was sensitive or the pressure was too much during the massage. The arm and hand massage was fabulous. She pulled and stretched out my arms, it was so relaxing. I will say, I would have liked to have more of a scalp massage. But that's just me being greedy :). My face was hydrated and soft after the facial. It was lovely. I would highly recommend coming here and seeing Uniqua. She was great! The facilities itself was not what I expected at all. I couldn't find any photos online which was strange to me. You check in for the appointment at a hair salon inside the Jefferson. They then take you through the entire hotel down to the basement and you wait there. The waiting room is right next to an open gym. I felt like I was in a lawyers office. To be honest, it was quite strange. They then take you back to a small room and take you to your designated room for service. You don't get robes, shoes, no locker room to even place your stuff. I debated on knocking this review down 2 stars because of the facilities. The facial was still $100, and to not have spa facilities to lounge was a big bummer. However, the facial itself completely made up for it. I will be back during my next visit in Richmond. read more

Great staff, ambience horrible I can't believe this is the day spa for the Jefferson Hotel. It's in the basement, back through the work out room into a tiny and cramped little space with no decor or windows or even reception desk. The girls were all really nice and efficient, but did not expect this for a spa in a high end hotel. The 8x10 room had two chairs for pedicures (not the massage kind, just regular arm chairs) and directly off this were the massage rooms so I am sure they could hear everything we were saying. Again the girls were really nice and good at their jobs - even offered to bring champagne down for us -- but as a girls trip out of town this was not what we were expecting. Today was my first visit to Salon Vivace for a massage but not my first massage with Myeisha. She is hands down the best massage therapist there is. She has been my massage therapist for over 3 years when she was working at Elements Massage. I tried several therapists over the years prior to Myeisha and several since she left Elements Massage but they just didn't work out for me. I'm so happy I found out that Myeisha was at Salon Vivace! Myeisha treats the body, mind and soul. She finds the points of pain and works them out. It's a trek for me living in Short Pump to go to the Jefferson, but it is more than worth it for the relief provided. I'm certain that God gave her the amazing talent and passion she has for her profession. Her massages are not just the usual predictable massages. She works on the areas needed. An added bonus is the beautiful Jefferson and the very nice staff from the time I pulled up to the building till I left. I was temporarily working in Richmond and desperately needed to get my hair done. I didn't know where to go, but was referred to Salon Vivace by a friend. I absolutely loved it. The entire staff was extremely welcoming and the hairdresser who worked on my hair (Josh) was amazing. He was beyond gifted and knowledgeable, and helped me find a new shampoo for my hair! I'm forever grateful for the staff and for a wonderful experience. I plan on visiting Salon Vivace again the next time I'm in Richmond! After weeks of repeatedly bleaching and damaging my hair (with the hopes that I could do it myself), I finally gave up and went to see Joshua Cruz-Magee at Salon Vivace in the Jefferson Hotel. I COULD NOT BE HAPPIER. I left with ash blonde hair, which was my ULTIMATE hair goal, my hair smelled and looked so good and healthy, AND I could finally feel my scalp again (THANK GOD). Josh took his time on my hair, about 2 almost 3 hours, and it turned out so incredibly great. I don't think I could have gone to anyone better, anywhere better. I actually met Josh at my current job at the Quirk Hotel and was lucky enough when he approached me and asked me about my blonde hair. I've been going to Salon Vivace since it was located in Carytown back in 2015. My stylist at the time was Mel, and when she left I was worried that I was never going to find a stylist to take care of my hair the same. She is a master stylist and took exception care of my hair when I transitioned from relaxed to natural. However, Josh is a GENIUS! Absolutely brilliant stylist and I am so happy with the results. He makes sure that everything I do takes care of my curls and the products they carry are exceptional. I cannot recommend this place enough. Josh is amazing stylist for all hair textures and I highly recommend this salon. I drive all the way from the northern VA/DC area just to see Josh because it's THAT GOOD. This is the most relaxing and best salon I have ever been to. Josh is exceptional. Every time I Josh does my hair, I literally can not stop touching it. He takes his time to evaluate what exactly your hair needs. I love the way all the products smell and make my hair feel. Josh is the best stylist at the Jefferson Hotel. I came here for the first time today and had my hair cut and styled by Josh - he is absolutely amazing. He started off by taking about 5 minutes to go over my current routine, what hair care products I use, and to let me know in advance what products he was going to use and why. The hair washing was pure bliss, I wanted it to never end, and the peppermint conditioner he used at the end had my scalp tingling (in a good way). I didn't want anything too fancy done, just a good trim and re-layering. He mentioned that most of his clients come for color, so I would imagine by the fantastic job he did with my simple cut, his color jobs must be out of this world. There was no pressure at the end to buy any products and be sent me away with a few samples to try. I will definitely be back - thank you Josh! read more

I've been getting my hair cut and styled here for several years and it's always a great experience. My son has started joining me this past year for his hair cuts too. Josh is our stylist and we both just love him. I always leave looking great and receive a ton of complements from friends and coworkers every time. I was staying at the Hilton downtown and this salon was their recommendation. When I saw it was at the Jefferson hotel I had high expectations. It definitely fell short. First of all they did not ask enough questions when I made my appt. Every salon I have gone to has asked if you have acrylics. The didn't. When it came time to remove them from my daughters nails, rather than say "we can not do that"(which they could have had they simply left them in acetone longer) , they tried. It took 2.5 hrs and the tech seemed bothered. She was very chatty with everyone else but had very little to say to me and my daughter. She is honestly why we will never return. She was sarcastic and short. Adding to the wait issue was the incredibly cramped space. It's just too many people in a small area and I cannot believe it isn't a fire hazard when full. My tech was super sweet and patient despite multiple attempts to get gel polish smooth....i appreciated her demeanor and she was kind; however, she needed deodorant. I am sure it's because it was very hot and cramped. So I will be notifying the Hilton about my experience so they are aware of what they are recommending. read more

Today I visited Salon Vivace for a pedicure (I chose the Rejuvenating Pedicure), and it was amazing! The manicurist (I wish I could remember her name) was so friendly and professional. This review is strictly about the nail services at Salon Vivace, as I haven't used the hair part of the salon. The nail tech was just fine, but the room where the services are given is abysmal. Where do I start? It's cramped and dingy, I had to awkwardly lean over another client to pick out the polish, and there's no room to put down your glass of water while you're getting a pedicure. To top it off, the nail salon is at the opposite end of the hotel from the salon, so you have to traipse through the whole place to go there and then to get back, and you go through the workout room to get there, which does not provide a relaxing atmosphere. Perhaps the renovations of the hotel will include improvements to the nail salon at some point, but it's not worth going there the way it is now. I used to love the nail-services room at the Cary St. location, but the current situation is nothing like that. It's particularly ironic that such a seedy nail salon is in an elegant hotel. read more
