Terrible advice and slow follow up. They do not liten to history and just want you out the door in 7.5 mins.

No one picks up the phone, just ridiculous. I'll be going elsewhere for my colonoscopy.

Great practice. Dr. Pai is knowledgeable and kind, taking his time to explain things and answer questions. I highly recommend this practice.

If you need to see a Gastroenterologist, do your homework before going to this place. Saw one of…read moretheir doctors late 2022.....saw one of their doctors for an office visit. It was decided then we would do an colonoscopy/endoscopy...they would be back in touch for those procedures. When arrived home, there was a note from the doctor....not to schedule procedures, but he wanted a review about the office visit....a 10 minute visit! What was I going to say? He was on time? His tie was straight? His breath was not bad? He was one year in from med school...I guess he wanted a participation trophy and a good old slap on the back for showing up! Problems persisted on and off for the next two years....that doctor's only advice /remarks...."eat more fiber"! Tried to schedule with another doctor recently....they won't do it! Once you see one doctor, you are stuck! I did not pick the first doctor, he was assigned! Think twice before picking out this place!

If I could, I would give a zero. I used to see Dr Pai and he was a very good doctor. The review…read moreisn't really pertaining to him, but more, office policies. I had been a patient there for 6 years and had many procedures by Dr Pai. I have a lot of medical issues, including autoimmune disease and my throat closes up/gets a lot of scar tissue, so sometimes I don't have a lot of notice before I need to be seen. When you become a patient of the "practice", at least when I was, they make you sign a paper that says you'll never see another gastroenterologist. Of course, if you are a patient for years, you don't remember this being something you signed, when you became a patient and I don't know anyone who develops cancer, that wouldn't get a second opinion, but because I got a second opinion, they booted me from the practice. I never even received a letter, until after I called twice and after requesting to speak to Dr Pai or to leave a message for his nurse. Their office policies are very bad, and I don't know any doctors office that is scared of another doctor seeing their patient. Please, don't waste your time by seeing someone here. You'll be a patient and comfortable and then they'll spring something on you and abandon you as a patient and you won't be happy. Interesting enough, this practice used to have a 2.9 rating and now on Google and yelp, they are a 5.0.......don't believe their "perfect" rating. Their office, managers/desk staff/insurance people etc, will make you hate this practice.

This is the first negative review I have ever posted about anyone, so it took a great deal for me…read moreto reach the point where I felt compelled to share my experience. My PCP and my Duke bariatric team both suspected I had SIBO and initially referred me to Duke Gastroenterology. However, because the wait to be seen was nearly a year, my Duke provider encouraged me to seek care outside of Duke and even offered to write a referral because they knew how overwhelmed their outpatient GI system was. After doing my research, I specifically chose Dr. C. because of his outstanding reputation and reviews. I wanted him to be my gastroenterologist and I felt fortunate to finally secure an appointment five weeks away. I even informed the Duke physicians during my hospitalization that I already had an appointment scheduled with Dr. C., and they told me that was great because I would need outpatient follow-up after discharge. Unfortunately, before my appointment, my condition worsened so severely that my physician instructed me to go to the emergency room, where I was hospitalized for six days and evaluated by Duke's inpatient GI team. While I was laying in the hospital bed, Dr. C.'s office called--not to check on me or ask how I was doing--but to cancel my appointment because I had been seen at Duke. I literally begged them to keep my appointment. I explained that I would desperately need outpatient follow-up after my hospitalization, that Duke's inpatient physicians do not become your outpatient gastroenterologists and that Duke itself had encouraged me to seek care outside of their system because of the year-long wait times and overwhelming backlog. I told them I knew Duke would not be able to get me a timely outpatient appointment and pleaded with them not to leave me without follow-up care. Despite my repeated pleas, they refused to keep my appointment and insisted that Duke was now responsible for my care. That assumption was completely wrong!!! After I was discharged, Duke confirmed exactly what I had tried to explain to Dr. C's office - they could not get me an outpatient GI appointment for months because their system is overwhelmed. Duke was doing the best they could with limited resources, but there simply were not enough outpatient appointments available. I was left without the continuity of care that every patient deserves after a six-day hospitalization and was forced to start over while still recovering. My insurance case manager was appalled when I explained what had happened. She specifically told me that what Dr. C.'s office had done was unacceptable, documented my complaint, told me it would be investigated, and personally helped me find another gastroenterologist who could see me much sooner. What hurt the most was that I genuinely wanted Dr. C. to be my doctor. I chose his practice because of its excellent reputation, yet the moment I sought emergency medical care because I was desperately ill, I felt like I was being punished for going to the hospital. Once the office learned I had been treated at Duke, it felt as though they wanted nothing more to do with me. That is not how patients should be treated. This review is not intended to attack Dr. C. personally or damage his reputation. It is simply my experience and I believe my voice deserves to be heard. Behind every appointment is a real person who is scared, sick, and depending on the healthcare system to help them. Healthcare systems may have policies and backlogs, but patients should always come first. In my case, I did not feel like they did and I hope sharing my story encourages this office to put compassion and continuity of care ahead of incorrect assumptions so that no one else has to experience what I did. Please keep in mind that Duke was the one that told me to seek care outside of the network. I sincerely hope this office reconsiders how it handles patients who require emergency hospitalization before their first appointment. No patient should be made to feel as though seeking emergency medical care disqualifies them from receiving the follow-up care they had already waited weeks or months to receive. Healthcare should put patients first.

I had the WORST experience of my life at this physician's office yesterday in Wilson, NC!…read more I had a colonoscopy scheduled for that morning. I had received a text message that morning, stating I needed to pay $400. I called the main office in Raleigh and was advised by two employees that I did NOT need to pay that money and to go on in and get the procedure done. Now everyone knows what goes into getting a colonoscopy! No eating for 2 days. That godawful drink. But I DID IT! Imagine my surprise when I get there and those rude nurses (more like CNAs) acted like freaking gatekeepers and REFUSED me service because THEY couldn't reach anyone in Raleigh and I need to pay that money in order to be seen. They continuously stated "ever since this merger they don't tell us ANYTHING, so we're going to have to call someone before you can come back." We constantly asked if we could be billed and they refuse to even answer us. Needless to say, since they couldn't reach the Raleigh office this patient who'd gone through DAYS of hunger doing this prep that I wouldn'tbe seen because they couldn't reach anyone. When the doctor called me later on that afternoon and asked me, what happened? I'm sure they'd already lied to him. So to recap, I went through hell doing that prep. We both took off work. We had to drive to and from Wilson. And we were treated like crap the entire time.
