I was a patient at Duke and UNC GI departments and neither one could not find out why I was getting these recurring episodes of pancreatitis. Duke put me on meds and four procedures. I was fed up and decided to try someone new. I wanted a smaller doctors office where the doctors and staff actually knew who I was and cared enough about me to treat me. I happen to find Triangle GI online and decided it wouldn't hurt to see someone there. After my initial visit with Dr. Tumbapura, he looked over past images and scheduled a new one to compare. On the second visit we went over together what the images showed - he actually looked over the images with me and showed me where and what he thought was the problem. Just this alone was more than any other doctor had done at Duke and UNC. I was touched to see someone actually cared enough to treat me as a human rather than a test patient. He schedule one more image of my gall bladder called a HIDA scan and found out his prediction was right and that the problem was my gallbladder the entire time. It had been a dead organ in my body for years. We schedule to have it removed through another doctor, and ever since, I have been able to eat normal again. I have been able to put weight back on and exercise again. I am so thankful for this place, as this review hopeful expresses. I would recommend them to anyone. Even if they never figured out the problem, the fact that they were personal made a huge difference.

I had received a text message that morning, stating I needed to pay $400. I called the main office in Raleigh and was advised by two employees that I did NOT need to pay that money and to go on in and get the procedure done. Now everyone knows what goes into getting a colonoscopy! No eating for 2 days. That godawful drink. But I DID IT! Imagine my surprise when I get there and those rude nurses (more like CNAs) acted like freaking gatekeepers and REFUSED me service because THEY couldn't reach anyone in Raleigh and I need to pay that money in order to be seen. They continuously stated "ever since this merger they don't tell us ANYTHING, so we're going to have to call someone before you can come back." We constantly asked if we could be billed and they refuse to even answer us. Needless to say, since they couldn't reach the Raleigh office this patient who'd gone through DAYS of hunger doing this prep that I wouldn'tbe seen because they couldn't reach anyone. When the doctor called me later on that afternoon and asked me, what happened? I'm sure they'd already lied to him. So to recap, I went through hell doing that prep. We both took off work. We had to drive to and from Wilson. And we were treated like crap the entire time.

He did not appear rushed. He recommended surgery to offset the likelihood of a greater problem later. Prior to my surgery Dr. Vig and the anaesthesiologist met with me again, and again all questions were answered in a relaxed, professional manner. The surgery went well. They don't let you know the doctor is running behind when you check in. My elderly mom had to prepare for a colonoscopy and endoscopy. The prep was so rough on her she passed out and hit her head. Had to have the ambulance take her to the hospital and sew her head up. Then when we arrived at the hospital for the procedure they told us it had been canceled!!! WTH!!! Thanks to a charge nurse in the hospital she called and made the doctor come in and do the procedure before he left to go out of town on vacay. I hope nobody else has to go thru this with this office!
