We came here for dinner as guests of a member and had a great time. The service was attentive, and they had a good sense of humor. The food was very good. Our group enjoyed everything except the dessert platter, which fell a bit flat after the standard of the rest of the meal. The house is set on a hill and has a pretty view. It was dark by the time we arrived, but I can imagine nice sunsets from up here! They seem to do a lot of events and parties, where you can rent out a portion of the facility. There was a lively retirement party going on upstairs while we ate downstairs...Looks like a great place for an event! read more

I don't know much about the Italian Cultural Foundation at Casa Belvedere, but I do know the Club here is phenomenal and an absolutely stunning venue. I was blown away from the moment we pulled up to the moment we left. Casa Belvedere is a members only type of Club, so you have to know a member in order to host a party here. I attended one this weekend and it was absolutely spectacular. The party was held on the lower level, an intimiate, cozy dining space plus a large bar and a bonus area that could easily be turned into a dance floor. The decor was elegant and timeliness. Everything from the table settings to the dim lighting was absolute perfection. I fell in love the second I walked in. The wine bottles adorning the walls add a nice Italian touch to the space, as does the large picture of the Venice canals by the bar. When describing this place to friends, I've been using the word 'stunning' quite a bit and that really is the perfect word to describe this space. Onto the food... Every single bite of the food was phenomenal, everything from the hors d'oeuvres (breaded chicken, sausage skewers, asparagus, bruschetta, shrimp/cucumber) to the last bite (dessert catered by Savarese bakery including a mouth-watering ricotta-filled cake, as well as their famous cookies - and sorbet from the restaurant) was divine. Our pasta dish was Penne Liscie Sicilians, with a red sauce, eggplant, and ricotta salata. I pushed the cheese to the side since I really can't have dairy, but this dish was bomb. For my main course, I went with the Frutta Di Mare - scallops, filet, and shrimp with white wine, and breadcrumbs. This came with a potato croquette and steamed vegetables and I CLEANED MY PLATE. This was no easy feat after the apps and pasta dish, but mama didn't raise a quitter. The service was 5 star. Our waiters and waitresses never left a water glass or an appetizer plate empty. They were friendly and quick too. If you asked for anything, whether it be a napkin or a dirty martini, it was given to you seconds later. We had an absolute blast at this party, and if I ever host a party of my own, I'd love to have it at Casa Belvedere. read more

Went here for a family party, and it seemed like the entire restaurant was filled with only large parties celebrating. It's basically like a very pretty house with all different rooms, so it's perfect for that kind of thing. The city and bridge views are top-notch, which is another feature that puts this restaurant above others in the area. All the food was good, but the appetizers stood out. The eggplant parm and the seafood salad were some favorites, but the absolute best was the spicy fried calamari and shrimp. read more

Our family enjoyed a supreme dining experience, last night, in Casa Belvedere, a private world class members-only club. The Italian Cultural Foundation has truly upgraded the word elegant to a new level. Our perfect dining table, situated in the center of the patio, overlooking the Narrows, showcased the Verrazano and the coast. The view at dusk was breathtaking. Jazz musicians played through the evening and made the dining experience evermore special. All of this crowned with phenomenal a dinner of cod and pesto rigatoni, delicious wine selection and homemade deserts made table side. The Belvedere waitstaff is most professional and attentive to your slightest need. This dining experience is not to be missed, truly a top tier venue. This venue is great for weddings and other life events. Great for family gatherings as well. This club also offers many other cultural experiences, i.e. cooking and languages classes. Beautiful venue, great staff, fabulous food and wonderful atmosphere. Would definitely eat here again in a heartbeat! First of all the view from the outdoor area in the back of the mansion is stunning. It was a chilly night but they had outdoor heaters and the drinks were flowing at the outdoor bar. Inside, there was a wonderful warm ambiance with the candelabras and the soft music. The food was delicious from the shrimp, oysters to the prime rib. This past Friday, Oct 4,we were invited to attend the 50th anniversary affair of Mr. and Mrs. M. Fiorellio. First and most obvious were the refreshing outdoor views - they don't disappoint. The outdoor area itself just may be the most relaxing I ever seen and the structure itself was from a time when life was much different. Also, there food and preparation were second to none. "There are no words". This a regular phrase my wife loves to use and it fits our experience perfectly. From start to finish, it was a reassuring and perfect experience for our friends, family, our children, and one we will always remember. Maria was calming and reassuring in a time of so much detail. Pat was professional from start to finish. Sylvia and Samantha and staff were absolutely unbelievable in tending to us and our guest with detail and concern and of course Robert at the bar was able to accomplish a mountain of a task in keeping everyone's glass filled with spirits. That day and days after we are still hearing how beautiful of a place it is with outdoor views to gasp at and with all that put together to turn out to be the most beautiful and perfect celebration for us all. They say that you either pick a place for the food or the ambiance, you never really get both. Well guess what - "they" are wrong! Tucked away in one of Staten Island's most exclusive areas, the Casa Belvedere is a gem - a stately manor house and historical treasure. Under new management with a new chef, and having recently undergone a lovely make-over, it turned out to be the most perfect place to host our wedding reception. These true professionals provided us a stunning venue, guided us through the planning/preparation stage like champs - and executed the most wonderful party down to every last detail. The food was fabulous and abundant. If you love old houses, like we do, you will totally appreciate the architectural charm of this special place. Beauty, history and soul all wrapped up in a fantastic location overlooking the twinkling lights of the Bridge and Verrazano Narrows waterway. Proud and honored to have had this as our "home" for one night to share with our family and friends. Full disclosure: wanted to like the place; it's great to turn an historic home into a cultural institution to celebrate all things Italian with events, seminars, tastings + now Friday night dinners. Sponsors/donations are happily + enthusiastically encouraged; they're looking to build a membership base (20 Benjamins will get you in), but they do accept non-members on Fridays. Was so annoyed after dinner, knocked out a smoking Yelp review; after a few days to chill, here's the edit: The house: lovely exterior is historic + must be maintained as such; the interior is not (thus allowing more modern renovations) + is more interpretive. The view to the water + the Verrazano is just outstanding. Valet parking was spot-on & efficient, easily the best service of the evening; was at the car before we came to a stop upon arrival + dashing to our car before we even got outside. The Entertainer sang in the hallway to some glass-clutching "Woo!" girls in the central foyer; softy gleaming in a brushed aluminum sharkskin suit to match his hair, he had good interpretive rhythm in bringing Rat Pack standards to life, half a key off. Our waitress was nice, with limited knowledge of the menu (we're not talking Cheesecake Factory here: 3 Primi, 2 Secondi, 3 entrées, 3 desserts, 2 specials). The wine list was minimal & forgettable at best, a small dish with oil + two olives was on the table, the bread basket held focaccia-like chewy cubes and rectangles of Panini-pressed flatbread. To our surprise (not delight), Primi + Secondi courses arrived at the same time; given the Secondi was a warm pasta, we worked on that course first. Our waitress happily left the Primi salads on the 30" table just to keep us cozy. Secondi gnocchi were unimpressive, doughy lumps in an oily pesto. Watermelon+cucumber w/ shrimp Primi would have been better chilled; shrimp were OK, but 1 was not deveined. Eeew! The arugula/peach salad had a nice dressing, but was just dumped on the plate. On the plus side, did order a glass of Chianti, which came in a surprisingly good-sized Bordeaux glass. Thought it would be perfect with the 'thinly pounded veal' special our waitress suggested since "only 2 are left!" For the entrées: salmon wrapped in potato slices with a tomato sauce, and the veal. Salmon was bland, potato slices wrapped around it were gummy and swimming in a pinkish tomato cream. And the veal? A key component was left out of the description she provided: thinly-pounded veal actually was a massive, butterflied, pounded + breaded veal chop. Which is fine on a cold night, but on a warm June night? Who puts something like that on a Summer menu? The only thing cool about it was... the veal itself: it was cool + greasy breading was starting to fall off it. Tried to saw through it; fortunately, swiped the steak nice the busboy delivered to the table - for the salmon. Opted for panna cotta & Nutella/berry wonton for dessert. Panna cotta usually comes chilled in a form, but ours came in a more rustic presentation with two scoops plopped on the plate (did it break?) If wontons had any Nutella, it was slathered on with a 3-haired brush and overwhelmed by the canned cherry-tasting filling. Finally signaled (twice) for the check, which took longer to show up than the first 2 courses (simultaneously) did. Blessedly, our waitress brought the check folder to us directly, instead of whipping it out of the back of her trousers. And wow, an 18% tip was added! Happy to spend close to $300 on an evening, but definitely did not get much bang for the buck. For a dinner venue, maybe Casa Belvedere wants to keep it clubby for their members instead of the general public - which is fine. But if they want to have some semblance of an actual restaurant, they need to step it up and act like it: Service: train your team in service, food + what menu options are; associate proper flatware with the right course; understand timing; it's not a diner - don't shove order book & check folders in the back of your trousers. Kitchen: supposed to be a new guy in the kitchen + the kitchen's a good size to turn out meals for the whopping 20 tables on a Friday night; needs big work on better presentation + menu planning for what's seasonal. Glassware: invest in glassware so you don't run out in the middle of dinner service Candles: love votive candles, just not splashes of wax + blackened wick pieces in them Salt/Pepper: put them on the table; can get a dozen set of those small square shakers online for under $8 Totally OK with a set 18% gratuity on the bill, but you should disclose that fact on the menu instead of just slapping it on the check - and make sure your staff warrants it. Take a lesson from the Joel Palmer House + make that 18% worthwhile. Attention to detail, better management, thoughtful food + menu planning, + minimal cash infusion on restaurant basics would make an impressive difference for Casa Belvedere, members and non-members alike. Make sure you don't give your car to valet. First they give us the wrong car then come back with another car- still not ours. I guess they didn't want to give back our brand new BMW X5 because they decided to back it into a tree on site and break the tail lights and scrape up the paint. Mind you the car has back up censors and cameras. The driver basically just ignored it and smacked it up. Since it was night time, the damage wasn't noticeable until we parked the car at home. Came back today and found pieces of the car on the property. Good job valet j***offs. read more

I just attended a wedding at this venue. I had never heard of it and did not quite know what to expect. The wedding was excellent. The meticulously maintained mansion was a beautiful setting for an intimate wedding. The food at the cocktail hour was plentiful and delicious. Service was excellent. Dinner portions were very ample and very good. Impressive venue - I would look forward to the opportunity to go back and would definitely host an affair at this venue. read more

Perfetto. This is a cozy spot with views x10 as it sits high on the hill. You will immediately feel right at home in this house turned restaurant and cultural center. The lobby has a huge display of desserts and fruits and a hand carver for prosciutto. Servers are genuine and acknowledge your individuality in their small talk. The close attention to detail makes a patron feel welcome. The food tastes like home and was very satisfying. Short ribs were super tender, baked clams were like momma's and meatballs with fresh ricotta were soft and tasty...and i never, ever ordered meatballs outside of momma's house. I have been here many time for dinners, bridal showers, baby showers, and I knew it was the perfect place to have my own bridal shower. Do NOTTT book an event here!!!! First off the food is horrible it's the people from Bocelli's who run it, but it looks like the chef did not go with them. The place is a train wreck, with the exception of the view's of Manhattan which they can't take credit for the place is a tear down. Everything was okay here at casa belvedere but what I truly loved was the outstanding service of the valet. I mean these kids can RUN! I had a party of 120 family members and we all came in at once after my grandsons christening. They really worked hard to get us in and were extremely accommodating. The chef kept coming out to yell at them meanwhile the poor kid is just trying to work. I'd hand my keys over any day. read more

We hosted our 30 person rehearsal dinner here in October. Disappointed is an understatement. We were rushed the entire time. As soon as we entered, we felt rushed and were told a timeline of how/when events/courses were to happen. A server literally took a wine glass out of my hands at the end of the night (under 2 hours-we went through 3 courses including coffee and dessert) while I was saying goodbye to guests. A time frame was never agreed upon. Fruit platters were placed at each table and when someone at my table said the watermelon didn't taste right, the server took the plate and said "it's because it's out of season" Then why are you serving watermelon? The server never came back with a new fruit platter. My husband spoke to someone at the end of the night expressing our disappointment and the response we received was "we'll pass along the info to our staff." At $70 per plate, we could have hosted our dinner anywhere on Staten Island. We expected exceptional service. While the food was good it was tainted by the service. read more
