Ordered takeout from here as it was close to where we were staying. Had the chicken chimichanga and Chile relleno with chips and cheese dip. It was average at best, lacked seasonings in my opinion and they didn't put the lid on the cheese dip properly so it spilled everywhere. Chips were pretty greasy so didn't eat them. This is delicious food! I'm so excited they are still here after the old Monrovia one closes down. The food is just as good if not better than the other location. (I was a weekly visitor at the old location). The service was outstanding and the waiter Diego I believe? Was so prompt and got the food out quickly and kept filling out drinks up. So for me, if you like spicy hot sauce, get their homemade hot sauce (salsa Picosa) it is outstanding! The cheese dip have a great consistency the salsa is delicious, but on of my favorite this is Nachos Machos (definitely get it to split between two people) it is huge and ask for the jalapeños to be diced and cooked versus a while one on top trust me. This time since it's just be I got the fajita quesadilla with steak and onions, then rice and beans, covered it in some cheese dip and the delicious hot sauce you have a perfect meal. Overall, it was fabulous and amazing and I will definitely be going back. The atmosphere was perfect and felt Super cozy inside. Try it out! Don't be fooled about the location, and don't be fooled that it's being a bigger name Mexican restaurant this is half the price and double the amount of food and better tasting. The service was quick and friendly. My food was delicious. The tacos were packed full of flavor and the salsa they came with had enough kick to satisfy my spice craving. One my favorite things on the plate were the pinto beans. I feel like many places get this wrong, nit here. They tasted homemade for sure. I definitely recommend this place. Terrible food . I ordered the ribeye steak and it was all gristle and overcooked. The service was difficult as the staff was not around and not helpful when they did show up. Overall , generally not worth the time for food marginally better than Taco Bell. Nothing special about the decor or ambiance, your typical Tex-Mex restaurant interior. When we first started eating there, the crowd was sparse during our timeslot, but over the past few months, certainly since the beginning of the year, the crowd has really grown. My family and I traveled from Nashville, TN, feeling hungry. Using Google, we discovered Casa Blanca in Athens, Alabama. Initially, the setting resembled a warehouse. Upon being seated, we promptly ordered, but the rapid arrival of our food within 5 minutes hinted at issues. Unfortunately, the chicken with rice I ordered was tough and dry, making it an unpleasant experience. In summary, the cheese sauce was chunky, the pizza was both overpriced and undercooked, resulting in our worst dining experience. I think there are ~ 8 Casa Blanca restaurants across North Alabama from Athens to Hampton Cove and maybe beyond. This location has been here at least 11 years. I've been to this CB and the one in Huntsville across from Sam's club. If I was in the same strip mall at Staples, or nearby Kohl's and starving I would pop in Casa Blanca for either an a la carte soft or crunchy chicken taco and of course the complimentary chips and salsa. I recall the food being very bland and really benefitting from the salsa. The chips and salsa come out immediately upon being seated. They have ~ 2 options wine wise, and their wine cheap and drinkable. The food is always served quickly, too. I usually get a to go order of chicken quesadillas for the hubs. I recall the restroom being dinky, dingy, and may have a problem with the lock, and no place to hang your purse (personal pet peeve). Personally, for me, CB is a step above Taco Bell and lightyears below places like any of the locations of Taqueria El Cazador, El Olmeca Mexican Cantina, or the fish tacos and experience at Phil Sandoval's. read more

I've been to the other location many times and never had an experience like this. This location was dirty (tables, walls, dishes, etc) and the service was below par. We had to remind our waitress a few times about our order and waited a long time for her to remember our table. The food wasn't up to standard and we generally regret dining here. Dates of visits: 5/29/21 and 6/5/21 Overall Rating: 3.77/5 (Score breakdown below) Casa Blanca Mexican Restaurant provided a great dining experience on both of my visits. The menu selections were excellent, the food was excellent, and the service was good quality. I ordered the Burrito Mexicano (once with chicken and once with steak) and it was delicious both times. However, the ambience was lacking due to the restaurant's location and the drinks were terrible both times. I would absolutely return to this restaurant, but I would not recommend the drinks. I believe that if the exterior ambience were to be enhanced then more people might come to here. Ambience (10%) 3.2/5 Casa Blanca is located in a derelict strip mall barely visible from Hwy 72 and is accompanied by empty storefronts and Leslie's Pool Supplies. The sign is missing the front of one of its letters which is highly unappealing. The dining area is split into two halves- one half had an abundance of engaging (although crooked) wall art and the other was noticeably less interesting. It was ~20% full on both visits which isn't necessarily a bad thing but I believe that more people would come here if the outside looked better. The music was not too loud but also not anything notable because I have no memory of it. Service (15%) 4.1/5 We were quickly seated and served during both visits. The chips and salsa were brought out before drinks were even ordered. However, we had to ask for a drink menu both times resulting in a delay of ordering alcoholic beverages. I prefer when menus incorporate the drink menu or when drink menus are left on the table so that I can peruse before the server arrives. The servers were efficient and prompt although did not make any conversation. Menu (15%) 4.2/5 The food and drink menus were very extensive and possibly contained TOO many options. There were individual sections for burritos, enchiladas, and fajitas but no section for tacos. The taco options were captured under the sections for their respective meats. If I wanted to order tacos, I would have to read the whole menu to find the tacos that I wanted. The menu is also suspiciously similar to Old Mexico Cantina's menu. Is this a conspiracy? We'll never know. Food (40%) 4.6/5 The Burrito Mexicano, Burrito Casa Blanca, and Super Chimichanga were delicious. The Burrito Mexicano had an abundance of onions and a great enchilada sauce covering it. The pre-meal chips and salsa were relatively standard. The salsa had a good smooth consistency and flavor. The Super Chimichanga was ambiguously described on the menu- I was unclear if the entrée would have three individual chimichangas or one massive combination of three chimichangas into a "Super Chimichanga". I was disappointed to find out that it was just three separate chimichangas. The burritos came with sour cream, guacamole, and pico de gallo. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the food and would love to explore other menu options to see how they compare to the things I have already tried. Drinks (20%) 1.8/5 The drinks were not good. The Margarona tasted like watered down Corona with a hint of lime. I asked for salt on the rim and I only saw salt on the back half of the glass. The frozen Peach Margarita was only half-frozen and tasted of medicine. And not even peach-flavored medicine! The Sangria, Pina Colada, and Mambo Taxi were better but still not worth $8. I have incredibly low standards for alcohol but I have slightly higher standards for alcohol that I have to spend $8 on. These drinks (with MAYBE the exception of the pina colada) did not even come close to meeting my standard. read more

This is just plain good Mexican food without all the refined decor of Rosie's, and you know what? I like it. Here you will find solid food options and good, speedy service. The chips and salsa are house-made (a must) and are tasty. The chips are a little bit thicker than I would normally like, but still good. When I come here I generally start off with a Border Margarita. Don't miss out on this folks, it's only a dollar or two more than the house margarita but is miles better. These folks make the best margarita in town. For food, I like the grilled chicken nachos. Very simply chips, tons of white Mexican cheese (if Mexican cheese is the proper term, I'll let the cheese snobs decide) and nicely seasoned, tender chicken throughout. Uncomplicated and delicious. The food was pretty good, and the service wasn't bad either. Overall our time there was good, until I received the bill. The waiter laid down the check and said he could take it right then. I almost did this until I noticed the bill didn't add up right. NOTE: Casa Blanca doesn't provide you with a line-by-line of what you are being charged for. I added the charges together on my phone, and found they had added and extra $28 without accounting for it! I informed the waiter about this and he took it for corrections without question, as if he knew it was wrong the entire time. After coming back with the corrected ticket, there was another $7.49 charge that wasn't on the original ticket, however this was because he didn't charge me for a beer the first time. In the end, I don't think I'll be going back. The lack of a system that keeps employees for either causing errors, or attempting the screw over guests, raises a huge red flag for me. read more

Nice side plate of rice, beans, pico, sour cream and guacamole. And about a fork full of meat. My server barley spoke English which is normally a good sign for good Mexican food. I think he might have been acting now that I've had a taste. Restrooms were not very clean. On a good note my dr pepper was authentic. The "bowl" was stale, the beef was some disgusting sludge rather than freshly fried taco meat and for some reason they didn't even put it together. The lettus, tomato and sour cream was piled on the side and I had to messily pick it up with my hands to transfer it to the bowl.
