I went to Taco Mama once with a friend, tried El Cazador because the stand on Hwy 72 looked too cute, and went to Cantina Laredo with the hubby for a lunch date. Don't get me wrong, the tacos weren't terrible, but they weren't something I'd crave necessarily. I read about this taco truck during a google search and thought omg this is too good to be true, but it wasn't! I tried it for the 1st time last week with the hubby and was so thrilled. We both got 4 carne asada tacos for $6. So cheap! (I've found that food is not necessarily cheaper here than in CA even with the high wages in CA just saying...) And man was it good. The meat was so well seasoned and they gave plenty of meat per street taco. The only thing missing is some darn Carne Asada fries! I wish that was a thing here! Oh and orange bang. Where can a girl get some orange bang around here? I need my whipped orange creamsicle drink stat! Or whipped pina colada drink! They do have horchata that is a plus! I'm so glad I found this place. Makes this Cali girl so happy!

Their pastor and lengua are phenomenal (asada is hit or miss) and the flour tortillas are soooo chewy and delicious. Their cheese sauce and salsa are mid. And the only reason why I took off a star is because their hours can be super unpredictable. Make sure to give them a call OR check their instagram page BEFORE driving over! Even though their hours said they'd be open, they're not always open... Eating tacos at Valentina's is one of the reasons why I look forward to coming to HSV. The menu is fairly large and they do have specials from time to time. The young woman who took my order was polite and personable and I observed her fluently switch from English to Spanish and vice versa depending on customer need. They were doing a pretty solid business. A small vibrating device was passed out to each customer, which would vibrate and ring when the food was ready. I'm pretty sure this is the only truck in the area that offers tlayudas, which is a dish created and primarily prepared in Oaxaca. Here, it's a very large, charred tortilla covered in toppings including beans, veggies, and a protein of choice. I ordered one with chicken so I could try it; I got a burrito with al pastor for my husband. They were serving champurrado as well, and I couldn't resist a cup of that. My food and drink all came out at once and I carted it home to eat. The champurrado was too hot to drink for a while anyway, and the food held up pretty well. When I did get around to drinking, it was thick, not too sweet, and creamy. I think other places I've tried it are actually calling hot chocolate with cinnamon champurrado, but I think this was the real deal, with a heavy masa harina base. I enjoyed it. Husband's burrito was large and quite tasty. The rice inside was cooked nicely. My tlayuda was also pretty good, and huge - lots to eat. Everything is made fresh and served quickly. We enjoy ending the week (Thursday, Friday or on both days) at Taco Mama's. We order a large serving of queso and chips and then add our Margarita's to the order. Then we sit down and snack and sip and "people watch". It is a fun and relaxing time that doesn't cost much.
