We had a reservation for 7pm...they didn't have our reservation (we had the confirmation email) we waited almost 45 minutes and had to go up twice before being seated. It was another 20 minutes before our poor waitress came over and asked if someone had take care of us...after she took our order, she came back about 10 minutes later and said they had no fettuccine (3 of our party ordered it). After picking another pasta, we FINALLY get our food...the re ordered pasta was STONE cold...we had to get our waitress' attention and she took it back to the kitchen...the rest of us had basically finished our meal before the replacements arrived! Our waitress was amazing but the manager did not show his face ONCE to even apologize for the wait, the food or anything!! Totally disappointed!!! read more

We came in on Wed evening early. Waitress was nice but a bit overly confident. I ordered steak tips med rare with a side salad with the supposed famous Italian dressing, I also opted for a side of sauted mushrooms. Salad was only iceberg and a couple tomato chunks - insultingly simple. Garlic bread was more like a loaf and was bathing in melted butter. As a one time resident of Marquette with a husband who was positively addicted to the Casa, I had occasion to dine here often. When I moved to Durango, Colorado I knew that I would miss the Queen City with her Jewel, Lake Superior and all the other gifts which Mother Nature and God bestowed upon our lovely city. Guess what?? Man did I miss Casa Calabria takeout just a few short blocks from my home! The garlic bread! The steaks! The stuffed shells...the list goes on! Now don't get me wrong, Durango is blessed with many highly trained chef owned establishments which offer culinary delights but still I longed for my Casa Calabria fix!! You really can't go wrong with any of their steaks or pastas and of course always get extra garlic bread! Now that I am back in Michigan I get to Marquette whenever I can and of course the Casa. I'm disappointed that there are no decent Italian-American restaurants in Marquette. The food this place serves is public school lunch fare.

If I could give ZERO stars I would. Normally a fan of their food, however when we attempted to order take out the person (manager) advised us that everything was now ala carte and the small lasagna that is ADVERTISED on their online menu was not $10.49, however $13.49 and did not include the ADVERTISED sides. What is listed on their menu for $10.49 would be almost $25!!! I reminded her that they are responsible for their web content and advertised pricing yet she refused to honor the menu price. This type of business practice is unacceptable, COVID times or not. If you use the internet to market your business, you're responsible for maintaining the content. Pretty decent Italian. I had the Butternut Squash Ravioli which was average. My daughter had the Mac and cheese and it was pretty good. My son loved the pizza. My husband had a steak and the Eggplant Parmesan which was the vegetable of the day. He enjoyed it. There are a lot of vegetarian options and they do specify which sauces are meatless. The desserts were mostly out when we ordered but they substituted a root beer cheesecake for my daughter. She loved it but seems unusual to me. The service was friendly but a bit slow. Good service food was absolutely disgusting. Everything was frozen I'm not sure anything that came out was fresh.

I've gone to the Casa in the past and have not in some time as I was not happy with it before. This time I was with a large group and not part of the decision making, hence, it was either not go with friends or grin and bare it. I was thinking maybe it's improved. Arrived with some of the group already there. No one offered drinks, and yes we had it reserved in the "bar area". Ordered a gin and tonic and it was terrible, drank some and left it on a table. We had wine though not enough glasses for the group, one of the guests was trying to get a bartender's attention at the end of the bar to get a glass, no one was coming to him even though 3 bartenders behind the bar and it was NOT busy. The bar at best was 1/4 full. I walked up near the taps to get someone's attention to get out guest a wine glass and then try and order a better drink. I ordered a perfect Manhattan with Makers Mark, and it looked like the bartender was lost. Again the drink was terrible. No mixed drinks from there ever again. The rest of the group arrived about 14 people in total. We finally sat down and the waitresses expected us to order almost immediately. A couple of us did not even have our tableware yet and no one had water. Maybe the wait staff and bartenders were all new or still in training. Orders done and waiting, i found it interesting how some people were asked about another drink and others just skipped over. My GF was out of her wine and they just passed her over. I had to interrupt a waitress to get her another glass of wine and she asked if I wanted another mixed drink and I told her no, it was not good give me a Widowmaker. I ordered the fettuccine alfredo with shrimp, my GF order the linguine with clam sauce. I'm glad I ordered a large as my GF's linguine and clam sauce was TERRIBLE. (by the way a large is NOT very big and the regular size tends to be small, especially for the price) The clam sauce was very fishy in taste with no obvious clam. Might want to throw a clam shell on there so people will know and help the presentation. I offered her mine which was good and the grilled shrimp was unexpected but nice touch. Of course the BUTTER with garlic toast came out. I write it that way because do they really need to pour that MUCH butter? I mean there is literally a puddle of it in the bowl. It makes you NOT want to grab it with your fingers to break into smaller pieces as it's a large piece meant to be shared. A real mess and looks like heart attack in a bowl. They did not screw the beer up. (I mean could they). I heard other comments about the food a mix of good and bad. Unfortunately the head of our group likes the place so will probably go again. Maybe my rating was biased from my other visits, though I still think deserved. I believe the only reason the place is still in business is because it is only one of two italian style restaurants in town and much better than the other one. This was such as exceptional evening! Great food and very nice service. The place was packed which usually means good prices and great food - and this place had both. The bruschetta was very different than any bruschetta I have ever had - warm with pesto and melted cheese - it was simply amazing. Don't order the lasagna!! It came out looking like a chunk of white cheese in a bowl of soup. There was a grease puddle of grease completely surrounding the lasagna. When I tried to cut and eat it all I could get was cheese. There was a massive layer of cheese on top and I had to let the lasagna cool before I could dig out the pasta and sauce, no meat to be found. Very disappointed with it. This place used to be so good, but it has went way down hill. It was a birthday dinner for my bf and from when we put our name on the list, it was a nightmare. First, they seem to have forget about us; we sat in the bar for 2 hours before we were seated, after being told it would be 50 minutes. At the bar, I asked for a tequila sunrise, which should be made with orange juice; mine seemed to have been made with grapefruit juice. Sour! Then when the server brought the bread, it was overcooked and couldn't even be cut. The salads were the only problem free item. My steak, which I ordered medium, was well done-tough. The Pasta Milano is my absolute favorite pasta dish from Casa. The bow tie pasta is tossed in an Asiago garlic cream sauce and topped with grilled chicken, ham, mushrooms and green onion. It is unbelievable. The cream sauce which is on the rich side goes perfectly with the salty ham and the mild onion flavor from the green onions. I don't have too many complaints versus all of the great food that the Casa is serving up. If you are a steak lover, try the Italian Tenderloin tips. If you love chicken, you need to try the Pasta Milano. And if you don't like or eat meat in general, try the Three-Cheese Shells with the Marinara sauce. I struggle with Yelp. Every dining experience is either the worst ever or just amazing. We are using Yelp with a very big grain of salt. We were in the mood for Italian. Read some reviews and decided on Casa Calabria. It was a good choice. No wait. Our server, Allison, was very sweet and made good recommendations. Atmosphere was ok. It's an older, traditional Italian restaurant. Wine and drink selection is above average. House salad was very good. The linguine with meat sauce and meatballs was very good. Lobster and cheese ravioli was VERY good. Wait was better than average. Reasonable value. All in all. Great dinner. We will come back. And this is for Allison. Hungry after a long day of hiking, my friend and I decided to give Casa Calabria a shot. Judging from their above average prices, we figured we were in for an above average meal. How tragically wrong we were. Apart from our friendly waitress, there was nothing remotely positive about our dining experience. The famed mozzarella bread was laughable - merely a crispy loaf of below average bread with greasy melted cheese thrown on top, hastily cut into four thick slices. The gnocchi with Milano sauce had no redeeming qualities or flavor, nor did the $12 four-piece ravioli with meat sauce. Never mind the presentation, or lack thereof - one would assume an established family restaurant might take some pride in the appearance of their fare. Good lord. Don't be discouraged though, because if you do find yourself in Marquette and craving mediocre Italian food, there's still hope! Get in your car, drive three hours south to Green Bay, and patronize the local Olive Garden there. You'll save yourself the utter regret, disappointment, and displeasure sure to overwhelm the rest of your evening by entrusting it to the likes of Casa Calabria. read more

I will NEVER go back here. I have eaten here before and enjoyed their stuffed shells very much. I stood in my friends wedding yesterday, and then the majority of the guests (about 50, for whom reservations had been made) went to dinner afterwards. We filled up 7-8 tables, and all but one table got their drinks, soup and salad, then their bread, then their entrees. My table had nothing. Our table got our own drinks from the bar, and asked several different staff members if they would help us to order food. When I had spent over an hour watching other people eat, they finally took our order. We were then served large chunks of bread dripping with butter in a basket with no knives or plates. Our food came about 20 minutes after, but we had no silverware to eat with! Thank goodness they dropped off bread plates when they delivered food, because the one knife and napkins were the only ones we got! They dropped off forks on a plate when we asked. My shells were super salty inedible soup. I was so disappointed and ravenous when I left I wanted to scream! With how much the wedding party spent there, I should not have had to order pizza when I got home! I would not recommend this place for anyone! read more

This is a classic down-home Marquette eatery that is fighting valiantly to stay relevant in a progressive Marquette food scene. The food is decent (when you get everything you ordered) and the service is friendly. Unfortunately, ownership is confident that their restaurant is the best thing since sliced bread. This status apparently allows the restaurant to charge exorbitant prices for their product. My wife ordered a $15 chicken Caesar salad that was literally romaine lettuce, a few pieces of shaved Parmesan, and dressing. The kitchen forgot the croutons. I ordered the Pasta Milano which was quite nice. The garlic bread was great! What really puts this restaurant at 1 star is the crazy pricing on their craft beer and the arrogance of ownership. When I called convinced that being charged $5.35 for a 12 oz. can of KBC beer was a mistake, the owner told me that this was a fair price. While I cannot tell a restaurant what to charge for a particular product, I can let everyone know that this is not the place to enjoy a fine brew. If you ask ownership, they will tell you that there is no need for complaints about expensive beer (they believe you will pay for it). To them, this restaurant gives a lot back to the community, so you should feel good about paying a big bar tab.... If you decide to try out the Casa, bring your Christmas bonus and a philanthropic mindset. If you are concerned about your experience, talk to the owner (he is more than willing to argue with you). He will be more than happy to tell you about his family's 24 restaurants and highlight their position as the restaurant with the most parking spaces. The Casa's convenient location may seem appealing, but I would strongly encourage anyone that is looking for a satisfying experience to look up the road or across the street. There are plenty of restaurants in the city making interesting food and charging a fair price while giving back to the community. We've been going to the Casa for over 40 years and it has been a family favorite. Last night we visited for the first time since the pandemic and we were all struck by how much smaller the proportions were. I guess to save money and to cope with inflation, they have really cut back on how much food you get for the price. What happened here?! This place used to be one of my favorite restaurants. I haven't been back in years, but we had a family event there recently that ensured I won't be back for many years to come. It took until most of the way through the entree course to get our waters refilled. And the non-water drinks were slow in being delivered from the bar that was approximately 10 feet away. The male waiter was apparently very displeased about being there, and snapped at a number of people in our party. One person commented that she ordered something she didn't really want because she didn't want to anger him further by not being ready to order. That's what you want in a dining experience! The only thing I had worth eating was the caesar salad. My FIL's steak tasted like it was left out to spoil, put in the freezer to get freezer burnt, then boiled. Both he and my husband felt sick for the rest of the night after one small bite each. The steak itself was also comically small. The garlic bread had zero flavor - no garlic and no butter. Or, if there was butter, it was unsalted butter because it was bread sitting in 1/2" of oily, flavorless stuff. The pizza was blah, but edible. I ordered gnocchi with tomato cream sauce, and asked for an add-on of mushrooms. The add-on mushrooms for the small a la carte was not cheap, and what I got was bulk canned mushrooms (for those of you who have had mushrooms from a bulk can, you know there's a different flavor). Regardless, canned mushrooms!? $2 to add 1/4 cup of canned mushrooms to my $8 plate of pasta? Seriously? It's embarrassing. read more

($36.99) House Balsamic Beef Tenderloin "Our house filet drizzled with a balsamic glaze and topped with Gorgonzola cheese." which was absolutely delicious and the temperature was perfect based on what I ordered. Super tender and I could tell it was good quality beef. The only thing I thought was odd is that it did not come with any type of vegetable side. I would've liked to seen some coined multicolored zucchini. I included a picture. Anytime I see meatballs on the menu I have to order some to critique them. I asked for two large meatballs and I was brought one large and one small and a tomato sauce tasted like a Chef Boyardee canned sauce. I've included a picture of both meatballs. I placed my fork by the meatball to give you an idea of the sizes. Small meatball $1.89 Large meatball $3.79 The size of the meatballs were a joke and they literally tasted frozen or like something you would get in the cafeteria. A salad consisting of yellow chunks from the core of an iceberg lettuce head and unripe tomatoes, combined with lasagna swimming in mediocre (and underseasoned) marinara and drowning in congealed mozzarella made this an overpriced and incredibly underwhelming dinner.
