Pastor, barullo tacos with rice and beans

Never been here before, but I just saw some people raved about their food. Their food is a beautiful presentation. Much better than a lot of other Mexican places they're ambience is great withdrew it to me. Was the the Muto papier-mâché figure outside I've been wanting to try this place but never have money. I would say as far as the salt go the red sauce is good if you don't like hot stuff, they're salsa. Verde is really good too. Their menu has really good options for food depending on what you like.

High protein bowl - carne asada and al pastor
    Pierre C.

Ordered a high protein bowl and it was delicious. Had a split of carne asada and al pastor. The would say my favorite was the Al pastor bc of the mix of the sweet pineapple and savory meat. There was plenty in n my plate and I got full halfway through. Definitely could be shared, but why would you want to? lol the beans could be just a tiny bit less salty, but beyond that a great meal! Thank you for the delicious food and tasty salsas!

Casa Comal was yummy. The tacos were delicious but a little pricey. The service was great and I went a little early but there was music and good vibes at the restaurant!

    Taco nopales

We went on a Tuesday for lunch. We were the only customers there, but for some reason the service was extremely slow. The waitress was very nice. There only appeared to be one cook. Each item came out individually as if the chef was making each plate one by one. It took 45 minutes from the drinks arriving until our last dish arrived. The portions were small. The food was bland. Presentation of food was good. Nice outdoor patio on State Street.

A must-visit spot for Mexican cuisine on State Street in Santa Barbara! We tried four tacos--shrimp, chorizo, birria, and norteño--and the shrimp taco was easily one of the best in the area. The margaritas were perfection--flavorful and strong enough for a nice buzz. The service was prompt and welcoming. The cozy outdoor seating added to the experience, and the complimentary chips with creamy, spicy green salsa were the perfect start.

Amazing tacos with flavorful meats and handmade tortillas! I tried the Al pastor and quesabirria with the two taco combo, which was a great deal. The rice it came with was delicious with a sort of creamy consistency and I got lemonade agua fresca which was nice and refreshing!

    Chicken tinga protein bowl
    David L.

Their chicken tinga protein bowl is so flavorful. I've also had their lemon chicken bowl which is also good but the tinga is mouth watering. Ask for the side of spicy salsa.

A two taco combo is about $15. But they forgot my extra mole taco

Not great food. Convenient certainly, but we probably should have just opted for the street tacos down the street.

Had a nice fish taco and some chips and guacamole, Good food but a bit overpriced and they were skimpy on the guac.

Los Agaves On De Lavina St. -- A Rare Review from Someone Who Hates Writing Reviews…read moreI spent 25 years owning a business. I know what good service looks like, and I know what entitled looks like. I never write reviews -- I watched Yelp destroy good people over bad nights, and I swore I'd stay out of it. Tonight changed that. I sat at the bar. It took the bartender over five minutes to acknowledge I existed. Another five to ten to deliver a Coke. I ordered dinner and waited forty minutes -- which I might have forgiven, except getting his attention was nearly impossible the entire night. No eye contact. Body language that made clear I was an inconvenience, not a guest. Every interaction felt like I was interrupting something more important. When I finally got him to check on my order, he went to the computer and discovered he'd never placed it. I walked out. I noticed the people around me weren't faring much better. The slowness wasn't just my experience -- it was the room. Los Agaves appears to be a popular place, and maybe on another night with another bartender it earns that reputation. But entitlement has a way of spreading when nobody checks it. I hope management is paying attention -- because a beautiful restaurant dies one invisible guest at a time.

The space smelled delicious and the girl taking my order was very nice and patient while I figured out what to get. I ended up getting a carne asada taco and a grilled fish taco. I also got their pomegranate mint drink. They have two rooms. We stayed in the one by the entrance where we ordered as the other room has a step down instead of a ramp. My child was sleeping in his stroller so logistically it made it easier to just stay in the first space. When I first got the items I staired at my Carne asada in confusion as it was just a sad pile of dry looking meat next to a very beautiful fish taco. My tired self didn't see the generous salsa bar filled with wonderful toppings. Alas it was like putting lipstick on a pig, as the meat almost was at jerky level. The fish taco while it looked amazing and the fish was fresh tasting, lacked the flavor explosion I was expecting. I appreciated the taste of the drink I got however it ran a bit sweet for my taste. Overall in an area with an amazing food scene it fell short for me, but at least filled me up.

We came here on a whim and everything about it was so enjoyable!…read more The service was good. Until we got seated, the service felt lukewarm, but our server, Joquin(?) made us feel so welcome! He gave us some great advice on what to order and we enjoyed every bit of it! There was also another gentleman that brought out the umbrella for us since it was getting sunny. We had a couple workers walk by without asking, but he was so kind enough to make us comfortable. The drinks we ordered were so refreshing. We ordered the Costa Blanca, De Aqui, and the Bengala de Granada. The drinks were so crisp that it almost felt like a palette cleanser. The yellowtail crudo was perfectly balanced between sweet and citrusy. The oysters looked spicy but were pleasantly mild! The octopus was tender and soft. The paella was flavorful and nicely garlicky. Loquita is small and cute. It's a little packed inside once it gets busy, so it was a relief we got seated outside.

We were seated at the bar style seating where you get to see the kitchen, which I actually prefer since you get to see everyone work. // DRINKS // Ooo Mami: lalo tequila, mezcal, lemon, passionfruit, agave, orange bitters, umami. A little on the sweeter side, but pretty well balanced and fruit forward. 4/5 // FOOD // Patatas Bravas: yukon gold potatoes, pimentón emulsion, brava sauce, garlic aioli. This appetizer didn't stand out. It's your typical patatas bravas, but it wasn't as flavorful as I've had elsewhere. 3/5 Ensalada Invierno: roasted kale, baby beets, marcona almonds, orange supreme, coca bread, manchego foam. Very smoky! I was surprised how much the kale took on the smoke of the grill, but it was very different. 2/5 Mariscos: bomba rice, manila clams, jumbo prawns, grilled squid, squid ink, green peas, garlic aioli. The star of the show and absolutely delicious. It was so flavorful and the grilled squid was so tender and melt in your mouth delicious. 5/5 Overall, even though the starters were a miss for me, I would definitely come back for the paella and drinks again, and also to try a few of the other dishes.
