This place has one of the largest cigar selections I've ever seen in the Chicago land area. It's 2 floors first floor has all the cigars and humidors the basement which has a cigar lounge. Now I don't understand why if a customer purchases a flavored cigar you are unable to smoke it which is something I never heard of until visiting this place. first time coming in since we came from out of state we decided to take a look at this lounge, but we were sadly disappointed especifically on the customer service experience it was very poor and rude. I mean you would think to get good customer service from an employee if we asked question, Instead we got directed by " yeah it's right over there" answers without helping us out the proper way. very rude and unprofessiona. never coming back here again. THE GO TO PLACE in Chicagoland area. I try to stop by here every time I'm in Chicago. This is by far the nicest shop and lounge I have ever been to in the country. They have a huge selection of harder to find or rare cigars. The cigars are always kept at a good humidity as I've never got a cigar from them that was too dry or wet. Their accessories selection is also quite nice if you fancy yourself some ST Dupont goodies. The manager there is very nice and always accommodating (I've met him many times but am really bad with names). If you go there during slower times and purchase some cigars, they usually allow you to enjoy the cigar in the downstairs VIP lounge. Their lounge downstairs is the nicer I've ever experienced. There is even a separate home theatre type room that you can use. If I lived in the area I would definitely be a lounge member. Also don't forget to check out the special area upstairs where they keep their really special cigars at. This place is a must if you enjoy fine cigars. read more

Approximately five weeks have passed since I coordinated a bachelor's party with the assistance of the proprieter and staff of Casa De MonteCristo. It was quite a gamble at the time, considering that none of the members of my party (groom included) had much experience with the world of finer tobacco. Other than the kind words shared regarding this establishment on Yelp, what immediately intrigued me to the venue was the unvarying amount of 5-star reviews (universal praise, words that don't generally correlate to "Yelpers"). Well, sorry to dissapoint any would-be detractors, but you couldn't pay me to express negative sentiment toward Sam and his incredible operation. The main level is akin to a spacious gallery, housing works of art--with the distinction, of course, being that these works of art are set on fire to be thoroughly enjoyed. Irrespective of preference, breadth of knowledge, etc., these gentlemen will escort you through their mammoth supply, warmly entertaining any questions along the way. At the conclusion of the first visit I was encouraged to return with my small collection of friends to enjoy an evening of smoking in their VIP lounge, a gesture I will likely never forget. The venue is BYOB, and I was able to furnish my guests with sipping tequila, belgium beers, pale ales.....we had an evening. The VIP lounge is...expansive. I will not divulge its contents. It truly needs to be seen to be believed. By the end of the night, my guys were having the time of their lives. The groom looked a bit lonely once he finished his first Padron, so we made repeated trips to the gallery to ensure he was equipped for the proceedings. Sam suggested some "My Father's" at one point, and my friend, I think you created a monster. Oh BTW, Paula, you're an all-star. Thanks for taking care of us so well. Look, these people genuinely care about creating an experience. There is a sincere respect for the people that patronize Casa, and you feel it even during your first visit. I'm not a big-shot. I don't drive an S-Class. What I believe, however, is that character-driven business deserves universal acknowledgement. Sam, keep doing what you do. Continued success. read more

"Fine Cigars and Smoking Lounge", in Countryside, IL (La Grange) I don't smoke cigars, but my husband loves a good Monte Cristo every now and then. We were heading out the other night to stop at his favorite humidor which WAS located in a gas station on 55th and Southeast and found it closed. As we pulled the car away from the deserted gas station, I spotted what looked like a fine dining restaurant but quickly noticed the glowing coat of arms that read, "Casa de Monte Cristo". Well, it seems the owner of the gas station humidor opened a showplace across the street that makes buying a cigar a luxurious experience. I was totally 'wowed' by the ambiance, the smells, the largest humidor I've ever seen and oh, the elevator that takes you downstairs to the VIP smoking area. Very cool. Sam Khalil, the owner was very gracious and gave us a guided tour. It's BYOB and we noticed a lot of fine whiskeys and cognacs being shared among the resident cigar aficionados. The downstairs has the feeling of a fine lobby bar at the Drake or Palmer House Hilton with comfy seating and large screens for sports viewing. There was a private mini theater complete with comfy movie-style seating and yet another big screen. This would be a great spot for a Father's Day soiree or any guy's night out to sample some of the finest cigars ever made. But don't get the idea the place isn't female friendly. Sam did his best to convince me of the virtues of a fine chocolate and cognac flavored little number that he said was 'very popular with the ladies'. And yes, we took one home and tried it. Well, I took a puff. LOL My husband thought it was marvelous. Now I don't advocate smoking per se, but if you enjoy a cigar on special occasions and you want to make it an 'experience', this is the place. Very upscale, yet casual. A cigar lover's dream. I'm proud to be the first to review. This 'fine cigar and smoking lounge' is a new hidden gem in the La Grange/Countryside area. read more

By far the largest, most beautiful facility I have ever been to that is dedicated to cigars. The selection is tremendous and even has a separate room for the rare and expensive varieties, seconds, and bulk. Everything about the place screams comfort and luxury and the staff is very good at making you feel like a king as soon as you enter. If you have the opportunity to smoke downstairs in the VIP lounge, by all means do so. They even have a conference room down there! The first and only time I went, the manager kindly granted us access to the VIP lounge because we had a large group that bought a lot of merchandise. All of us really enjoyed every minute of it and tipped the pleasant-on-the-eyes server who took care of us. I took a peek in the regular lounge upstairs and was impressed with that as well. This place does NOT skimp on all the little luxurious details that make you feel comfortable during your smoke. I honestly didn't want to leave and smoked another just to make an excuse to not leave. Great staff, great lounges, enormous selection... what more could you ask for? read more

Ooooooboooooy!!! I took one of my clients in to buy a nice "thank you" gift for selling some of his investment properties through me recently. It was going to be just a causal hour breakaway from the office. I got there early and checked out the place and they gave me a mini tour so I could kind of show off when my bud got there. First of all, I couldn't believe my eyes! This place is big and glitzy, looks like it should be in Times Square but cozy, like the best club in NY you've ever been in. The selection of cigars are unmatched and how they are displayed is fresh compared to any place I've been in. The technology, architectural and engineering of the building and space is simply amazing. This is a new building completely designed for it's use. Once my buddy arrived, we were given the full tour. We we're shown their aging and limited edition room which has some pretty pricey sticks for those extra special occasions. We were then taken to the lower level (VIP area) via an elevator. Once the door opened, it was like MGM introducing the new found color on the Wizard of Oz when Dorothy opens the door to her dream and the yellow brick road and color of money appear! This place is crazy nice! Lounges, bar, theater, private conference room, plasmas perfectly placed around gathering areas. The lighting was highly engineered to enhance small and larger gatherings. We went back upstairs and pick out a nice smoke and were invited to enjoy a complimentary 1st time use of the VIP area. We relaxed and had a great time and spent the rest of the day there. I happened to overhear two guys sitting next to us who just joined the club that day and they were the 226th and 227th members. They said there was a 250 member cap and that they just opened the club 8 or so months prior! It didn't surprise me at all. What a nice place! read more

If you are a true cigar lover, you need to check this place out. This place has the best collections of cigars in all Chicagoland. And you will drool all over their vintage room collection. Their also have their own exlcusive blends called B52 and B56, Wetwrap from Tatuaje and UF-4 from drew estates. But not to worry, they have vast amount of cigars for sale and sales people knows their cigars. They are happy to ask any questions you might have. VIP Lounge downstairs is an epitome of man cave. Private movie theater, comfortable chairs and booths, conference room, private lockers and even have a positive vacuum locker to hang your jackets (brilliant isn't it?) You can also bring your own bottle and they have typical sodas and water for you to drink. Now that I'm only 15 mins away, I'm planning to get my VIP membership and make this place my second home (although I live 5 min walk from their sister store Eight by Eight Cigars). This is a must visit place for any cigar lovers that comes through Chicago. read more

This is a pretty nice place with a really good selection, but if you're not a member then you may want to take your smokes to go since they have all of about four chairs (not literally) in the entire upstairs area to smoke. When the weather is nicer they do have tables that you can sit at outside. If you're a member, you get access to the super sweet lounge area down in the basement where you won't want to leave. You have access to drinks, you can BYOB, you can bring food, you can store stuff down there for an additional cost, you can rent a theatre room, you can rent a poker room, you can bring guests, you get a VIP access with a proxy card to go to the basement, you can host events down there, etc. How much does it cost to be a member? About $300 a month... At least that's the amount they told me when I was there. I love my stogies and I appreciate having a place to go to smoke and their VIP room downstairs is definitely worth it, but if you don't plan on smoking all the time then this may not be worth $300 a month. You don't necessarily pay them $300 directly for the membership, rather you just need to spend $300 on cigars and accessories to maintain your membership. Again, these guys have a great selection, although it can be a little pricey because of being in Cook (Crook) County, but they should allow access to a decent lounge if you come in to buy a few smokes. Habana Cigar House in Rolling Meadows is still in Cook County and offers much cheaper prices for their cigars and they have a very nice lounge that ALL customers can use and not just their high rollers. I appreciate wanting to create an exclusive vibe for your members, but it's also this exclusivity that gives off a pretentious vibe. read more

This is the best cigar experience you will have, hands down. This store and lounge is absolutely beautiful inside and out. They have some collections that I have never heard of or seen before. They also have some of my favorite cigars that nobody else normally stocks. They even have a vintage room and their own house blend cigar is amazing. I have yet to let someone try it that did not like it. I stumbled in here randomly one night with a small group of friends. We were given the grand tour by omar. He was awesome and showed us around. Then we went downstairs to the VIP area. Words would not do that area justice. It is amazing and has everything you can think of. The woman that helped us was gorgeous and absolutely great. She was friendly and helpful and made our visit even more amazing. I think her name is kara. She is the one that works Thursday and Friday nights. I came back again and was helped by Arriana. She was another very friendly and helpful person and she helped me decide on a new lighter I have been after. I just love the selection they have, the ambiance and environment they have set, the products they offer and of course their customer service. It is the best I have experienced in a very long time. I usually go and grab 3 cigars or so and it runs me around $40 or so. The liquor store across the street will deliver too! This place is just absolutely beautiful and amazing and I can't say anything bad about it. I am hoping to become a member very soon. read more

I am a minimal cigar smoker & only occasionally have a cigar but like a quality one. I heard this shop was great so I stopped in - wow, they have the best spot I've seen with an AMAZING variety in EVERY price point (other than Swisher Sweet market). From Chicago, to Denver, to New York - I'm the most impressed with this place by far. The service is awesome - I told them I don't smoke cigars often, they still spent time with me. I told them I have a LOW budget so they steered me in a direction without trying to up-sell me on a specific brand etc... I told them I like mild - medium and they got me exactly what I liked. They gave amazing recommendations, not cocky or rude, really professional & the shop itself is immaculate & professional. Really impressed from sales to presentation, and of course the product. This is THE 2012-era 'standard' for cigar shops. It's pristinely designed and carries the best selection of old standards to hard-to-find premium cigars. It also has a great selection of overruns extra aged--from premium companies. Then--as if that's not enough--they have a 'rare and aged' room full of uber quality cigars. The only problem with this place is managing your bank account when there... It does have a decent 'free' lounge area...but I had the privilege of being 'comped' a session in their basement lounge area and was blown away. If I lived here I'd definitely be a member. It's huge, has a full bar for BYO and coffee, has a private DVD theatre, a conference room, plenty of booths, tables and chairs...and perfect ventilation. BTW--if there in warm weather, they do have a great patio outside area to smoke. Free as well. I don't know how they afforded this but am glad they did. I've been to lounges all over the U.S. and have yet to find better. As I said, THE standard moving forward. read more

At the urging of a business acquaintance, I recently stopped into Casa de Montecristo to experience the shop for myself. I was surprised that it exceeded the expectations put forth! I have frequented cigar establishments across the country, from large to small. I was surprised at the size of the place, yet the overall comfortable ambiance. Casa de Montecristo was well lit, well stocked, and very clean. I was warmly greeted with a genuine smile and a sincere offer to answer any and all questions about the shop, or the impressive selection of cigars. What astounded me was the tour I received at the urging of the staff that greeted me. Casa de Montecristo is deceivingly large. It has humidors lining the walls of the main room with a complete selection of single cigars. It has a room dedicated to box purchases and an aging room for those rare and hard to find cigars. It even had a floor-to-ceiling glass enclosed room just for first run samples and bulk selections. The upstairs lounge looked comfortable; pleanty of seating. The downstairs VIP lounge was amazing; a bar (BYO) that is staffed in the evenings and on weekends, a movie viewing room, and plenty of seating including raised booths. Though the VIP lounge is for preferred customers that spend money at the shop, I quickly made a purchase so I could join. I have not seen a complete cigar shop as Casa de Montecristo in all my years of cigar smoking. I am glad for the referral; I am happier that I decided to stop in and explore. I will definately return and plan on being a regular. read more

This is a hard place to review. They have a great cigar selection and nice staff, but typically I'm also looking for a place I can hang out in and smoke a cigar. Their upstairs lounge is pretty small and you feel like you're intruding on someone's day if there are a couple people in there. BUT, and this is where it gets hard, their downstairs VIP lounge is GREAT. I've been down there for a smoke a few times when buying a box of cigars or a friend who works at a cigar company hosted an event down there. It's great. Booths along the wall, tables in the middle, nice bar, a theater, meeting room, etc. It's about all you could ask for in a cigar lounge. You just need to commit to spending $200-300/month on cigars at the store to get access (I've heard varying prices from people). If you smoke a lot and live near by, it's probably worth it. If not, you're likely wasting money. If you're stopping in to pick up cigars and go, can't beat this place. If you're looking for a spot to sit and enjoy a cigar, head to one of the other cigar shops in the area. read more

I have been to cigar bars all around the world and this is THE best. Even outdoes the Casa de Habano in Dubai. The cigars are properly humidified and Sami always pairs the perfect cigar with the meal. The events are spectacular. The service is extraordinary. There has never been a time where a cigar that I did not like was not immediately replaced. The atmosphere is is relaxing with a wonderful ventilation system. TV's and a theater room to relax and a conference room for work with wireless Internet access makes this the perfect place to work and relax. We use the conference room, for many offsite meetings. My review is completely unfair! My review is based entirely on the VIP experience. I found this to be a very exquisite lounge. Everything from the low lighting, music loud enough to be heard but soft enough to still conduct a conversation, the hostess, the seating, I'm SOLD! We brought our bottle with, we had pizza delivered...man oh man I was truly comfortable. Now the downside to this cigar blowing treat was in order to indulge in the VIP lounge. You have to spend upwards of $250 per month in cigar purchases. The alternative was the 1st floor lounge, brightly lit & far from the intimate experience on the lower deck. Sadly I will probably never see this place again as I can not foresee myself spending $250 per month on cigars. read more
