The food is very average with an extremely high price tag for what you get. I had the flautas and it was essentially boiled chicken and boiled beef with no seasonings for the meat. Best Mexican food in Rexburg, Idaho. I feel like I'm back in California again, and the food tasted great.

I was looking around Rexburg for something to eat and decided to Yelp it. The Casa De Ochoa popped up And I decided to try it. I and my wife had a great meal. The beef dish I had had been tenderized by pounding it flat and giving it a light roll in breadcrumbs I think. It had a lot of good flavor. My wife had the chicken nachos and I thought they tasted fantastic too. The place was clean, and I didn't think the service was slow at all. We did get there at a slower time of the day. But I didn't think anything was out of line. The proprietor came over to our table to talk to us and I thought he was very pleasant to talk to. On the whole, a great meal. I would definitely go back next time I'm in Rexburg. read more

This place. Where do I begin? I LOVE everything I've had here. The carne asada is to die for. Get anything with that in it and you'll be happy! The California burrito is the best I've had outside of California. Also, the waitstaff is incredibly nice. They always have a smile and are quick to get your food to you. I've gone to this place since they first opened. I mean when I first went, the menu was on several printed sheets of plain white paper taped to the wall.... Great stuff! I am sorry to say that this was the worst Mexican food we have ever had. My husband got the Machete with Carne Asada, and I got the Carne Asada Nachos. Stay far way from the Carne Asada. It is gray, and full of gristle and fat. Yuck! The Machete has a way too thick corn tortilla, and the whole thing is pretty tasteless. The Nachos were a soggy tasteless mass. It is a fast food type of place...not a regular restaurant as one would hope for. We were fine with the wait. They do make it to order. The guy working the cash register was super nice and helpful. All of the tables were dirty and he took the time to clean one for us despite the fact that there were several people in the back doing absolutely nothing. Ambiance was fine, but the food was without flavor. I had the chicken tamale with green sauce. The dough of the tamale was too dry, the chicken was flavorless, and it didn't come with any sour cream or pico de gallo. I had to order that as extras. It was just plain. Also, I have CELIAC'S DISEASE, and I know I have to be careful, so I called beforehand, I talked to the owner days before my eat out, and the same day, I asked to reconfirm what they had told me before. I had asked them if their food (the foods that obviously wouldn't come with flour tortilla or that would contain bread or just flour) was save to eat, and they told me that it was, that they make their meats, rice and beans, and tamales separate from the foods containing gluten. I created this account specifically to write this review about Casa De Ochoa. Me and my fiancé were craving some nachos. I had heard from a friend that Casa might be a good place to try. My fiancé and I arrived and ordered in about 3 minutes. We waited about 7 minutes to get our food and then went back to my apartment to eat them. I live 2 minutes away from Casa, at the Lodge. Once we arrived home I took a bite of a single chip and immediately recognized the chip was stale. It was soft and I had to grit my teeth to actually break through the chip. My fiancé experienced the same. We went back to Casa not a few minutes later and brought the nachos with. I brought it to the front and told the host that the chips were stale. He immediately told me that that couldn't be possible and I must have waited too long to eat the nachos. He explained that he himself made the chips and that he wouldn't do anything to rectify the situation and I left with the nachos in hand. I experienced terrible customer service, terrible food and I will never frequent this place again. If you are considering this place, don't go. It's a gross establishment and I regret ever giving them $9 for stale chips. read more

I just finished my first meal here. I had the Al Pastor Quesadilla. It was excellent. I was a little bummed that it didn't have beans and rice included with it. I didn't want to pay extra because I have to drive back to Portland, OR tomorrow and the budget is tight. So I skipped the beans and rice and quite honestly, I didn't miss them at all. The Pollo Asado Plate is to die for!! Its a really good size piece, it comes with rice, beans, tortilla, guacamole and pico de gallo!! It tastes so good and fresh!! The food is pretty good but the customer service is horrendous. Twice they have taken my order and walked away without giving it to the cooks to prepare. I waited 45 minutes in the restaurant, waiting for my food and then when they realized they never put in the order, it took them another 20 minutes.
