If I can rate this trash hole a zero star I would!!!! There's roaches!!!!! Worst 2 nights of sleep I had in my entire life! The hotel is dirty crumbs under the sofas, next to the beds. there's broken stuff the tv sucks no good picture quality. The tv had nothing to watch no channels. Nothing looks like in the picture they need to upgrade everything! DO NOT COME AND THROW AWAY YOUR MONEY IN THIS HOTEL I REPEAT DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL! I should've read the reviews but I didn't. My experience here was horrible and I feel so bad and sad to be honest I work hard for my money and I wanted to take my 3 kids on a mini vaycay and I spent 400 for this nasty hotel. I thought I was getting something good. I told the head manager about the roaches in the first room I wanted a refund she told me no refunds, that she can move me to a better room on the 5th floor and there was roaches there to! The head manager didn't care I had to forcibly stay in the hotel with my kids to not loose the 400$ I will never come here again. Do not waste your money on this place people!!! And the fitness room is a storage room it's closed

The refrigerator part went out and the food and milk went sour.

Horrible Stay. When we first get to the hotel room, it seems fine. We have all of the essentials. Most of the dishes were dusty but didn't think much of it. It had a good view of the ocean and not a good view of the pool. 2nd. Day. In. The refrigerator goes out. We contact the owner, he says "We'll be here tonight or tomorrow morning,". The next morning he didn't even come, it was 1:00 until we tried to contact him again. No one picked up. If your looking for somewhere to stay, don't make the mistake I made.

This place is pretty great for beach access, a decent view and plenty of space. I stayed here May 20-22 and it wasn't terrible, but it was not as great as I thought, if you're getting a unit from the onsite staff. That's important because not all units can be treated the same even with the same layout. Main bed was lumpy and had poly sheets that slept hot (even with the A/C on 68-70). The A/C seemed old and which I could tell didn't have a dehumidifier function. This is important because of the location and you can tell when it was cold, even if either the patio or front door open was open for a few seconds, it made it unbearable humidity inside and took forever to cool back down. I was on the 3rd floor so I can see that some A/C units on the roof looked newer than other so this is likely not an issue units better renovated. Also we only got a thin kitchen rag and a wash cloth, plus a small bottle of dish soap. This wasn't terrible but if you plan on doing all your cooking in the room like I did, bring your own sponge and maybe a better dish cloth. Doing dishes so our housekeepers didn't have to was hard with what was provided. Additionally most of the included dishware and cooking pots/pans were cheap as heck. The pan I used was leaky and double pained with water stuck between the two so putting it on the stove expect there to be some steam from that. Yikes. If you want to use your own streaming device or laptop, make sure to bring your own HDMI cord. WiFi is free thankfully. Onsite DirecTV is sparse but better than nothing. Overall for the value of the price I paid and what was there, it wasn't bad. But it was far from good or what I expected.

Excellent deal for the price. Clean rooms, good size, view of the coast! We went camping at first, but had some nasty weather, so booked this room last minute. The staff was super helpful and courteous- offered info on touristy things. The only downside was that the people next to us were incredibly loud way too early in the am, so we had to stuff a towel under the door that joins the rooms.

Great location with easy access to the beach and a quick drive from the Strand. That's my positive note. Room was dated and tiny. No icemaker. Had coffeemaker but didn't provide coffee filters. Mismatched dishes. You weren't allowed to turn the AC below 70, which left us very hot most of the time in the living room. Sleeper sofa was impossible to sleep in because the bars were sticking in my ribs. Pool was tiny, dirty and oddly hot in the middle of summer. I found the rental contract the off site management company required to be extremely annoying, felt like I was signing my life away on staying in a castle- not a trashy little beach motel. Also found it annoying that I had to check in off site. If a mainstream hotel or motel had availability at the same price, I'd recommend booking that.

Let me start by stating that the staff in the office deserves 5 stars, but I would give the room -1. The staff was great. They were helpful and professional and refunded my money after a sleepless night. After I pointed out some of the problems, the staff said they would use our experience as a teaching tool for housekeeping. I hope they follow through so I won't get into that. I'm writing this review to list the good and bad points of the room so that hopefully more changes are made. 1. The hotel is in a great location. It's just a right turn off the main highway as you come into galveston and it's close to all of the activities. If you eat at buffets, it's next door to those types of places. 2. Security was visible the entire time. 3. Parking was convenient and there were lighted spaces. 4. The view from the angled room was nice. We could see a pier and past the sewall. 5. The room ad said it sleeps 5 or 6, but I would say 2 and possibly 2 children. The bed in the room is small and 1 person has to sleep against the wall. The bunk beds were too short for us and the pullout couch was old and the mattress was stained. Nobody wanted to sleep on it, but my mom offered to try it and my daughter and I crammed into the bed. 6. While the living room was dark and quiet for Mom, the curtain in the bedroom was to a hallway window. Lights stay on in the hallways all night and light shined through both sides of the curtain, making the room very bright. Also, because our heads were on the hallway wall, until 3 am we heard girls running down the hallway screaming. We didn't sleep and I had driven for 14 hours, including a short stop in austin. My suggestions as a tired traveler would be to clean the room, paying attention to walls and corners, do something with the windows in the bedrooms to block out the lights, sound proof the hallways to cut down the noise, replace the old sofa beds. If the hotel would make those changes, I would return.

Our room was on the top floor where the Seagull Rooms are located. It appears to be newly renovated. It was clean & comfy. The shower pressure was perfect, and the AC worked very well. It's located in the San Luis Resort with many attractions & restaurants nearby. The beach and breakwater viewpoint is across the street from the hotel. There was a Sugar Plum Market in the hotel on the day that we checked out. Wish I could have spent some time looking at all the Christmas goodies. There are just a few things that were less than ideal. The buffet breakfast was pretty basic, however they do serve Starbucks coffee. The coffee was good! I have to say that Marriott wins in the breakfast department over Hilton. The port shuttle is not complimentary. We could have used Uber instead of the shuttle. They do have a Park, Stay, & Go hotel offer for those with cars. Perhaps that's a better deal, but I'm pretty sure that the fees are added to the rate. I was impressed that they had a handheld steamer in the closet. We didn't get to use it, but it's a nice thing to have. I would have traded it for a pair of disposable slippers. It's the little conveniences that make me the happiest. It was cool to see the offshore oil drilling rigs glowing out in the distance at nighttime. I had never seen that before. On a clear day, you can barely see them out there. I really enjoyed the Gulf view from our room. Walking along the seawall at sunset was the best part. Would I stay here again? Yes, with a few minor adjustments. We would probably have breakfast at the IHOP next time. Other than what was mentioned earlier, it was all good.

On the date of checkout we were told that they finally received the confirmation through booking.com and that it would be 3-5 business days until we get refunded. After being gone for about 7 days on our cruise we didn't receive any refund. Day 8 when we finally got back on land we called the hotel and were given the run around. The manager said she was looking into the situation and that she would give us a call back, she never did. When we called again, the representative told us that the manager stepped out and wasn't available to help us at the moment. I don't know what's going on with this hotel but we've used Marriott before and never had any issues like this. This group here is unprofessional, and need to get it together. But my wife, always with the champagne tastes was not so convinced. We debated this off and on for a couple weeks, and eventually she won out when she discovered a deal on TikTok for the Grand Galvez. TikTok has deals? Apparently. First impressions walking into the lobby: yeah, it's super nice. Quite a bit nicer than the Hyatt Select we were considering. And quieter in this area. The place almost paid for itself when we accessed the private beach. As you walk up, you're greeted with towels, water and covered seating. These things were especially welcomed during our visit when it was approximately 99 degrees with 278% humidity. As others have shared, the rooms are small, but they're not like Japan small. We had a room with two queen beds (maybe they were doubles?), and felt like we had plenty of space for what we needed. Our 7 year old son slept in one bed with my wife and I got a bed to myself. Maybe if you sharing a room with someone you don't want to be sleeping practically right next to, you'll wish you'd booked a different hotel. But this was great for us. Oddly enough for a historical hotel, they have the world's fanciest shower with so many buttons and knobs that it's hard to even figure out what to do. Ultimately, the shower itself was fine. The water got plenty hot and the pressure was solid, even if the angle was a bit weird. The beds were a bit softer than I'm used to, but comfortable. Because this was a short day trip for us, I actually packed my own pillows, so I can't speak much to those. We opted to valet for $40 a day, but there is a public parking garage right next door to the hotel. It's a nice place. Apparently scour TikTok before booking.

There is so much to the facial; I was delightfully surprised each time I thought it was over that it wasn't over and a new treatment began! Both massage therapists' hands were pure magic. The only things I'd advise them to do differently is: no oil in the scalp massages, and less steam on the face during the facial. (Or ask the client beforehand) The Room - 501, Audra's room, the only option as far as I'm concerned. Spectacular view of the beach and ocean. Bring all your ghost hunting equipment. She preferred to speak through my witchboard, but there is a ouija board already there and set up for you! It was the cherry on top. The rest of the "normal" amenities were great, though I would've preferred a simpler shower (I needed an instruction manual haha), and a simple shower as well as an antique mirror would've matched the rest of the room much better. The interior designer needs help all over the place here... owls and monkeys amid jungle leaves at a beach hotel? No. And they really should've left the cream colour instead of the pink everywhere (the exterior paint especially) but that's just my opinion. The Pool - Fabulous! Perfect temperature and wonderful drinks, albeit a bit on the pricy side. The hot tub was a perfect temperature too, even if you just put your legs in. All in all, a marvelous stay but an expensive one.

At check-in, we were informed that a discounted rate could not be applied to one of the rooms due to hotel policy, despite the occupant qualifying. We were also charged a resort fee that included access to amenities such as the outdoor pool and lounge area, which were not available during our stay due to a private event, as well as Wi-Fi service that we experienced as intermittent. We requested a pack-and-play at check-in, but it was not delivered until several hours later and only after a follow-up call. Food pricing was also higher than expected. For example, we were charged $10 for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with fries for a child, which felt high for what was provided. At checkout, while managing luggage with toddlers and a disabled member of our party, we did not receive assistance from staff in transporting bags to the shuttle area. We had confirmed a cruise shuttle pickup time of 11:25 am at both check-in and check-out; however, by 11:45 am the shuttle had still not arrived, and it did not show up until closer to 12:00 pm despite multiple calls to the front desk. Instead of staying at the big hotel on The Strand, we decided to try Schaefer Haus. With two homes to select from, we selected what is Room 2 in the main haus. It is beautiful and filled with antique furnishings. Tammy and the rest of the staff are lovely. Tammy filled us in on the Happy Hour and Breakfast details and showed us our room; what is listed as the Freiberg (and now known as the Laura or Room2.) The room is comfortable. The bathroom includes a claw foot tub with shower head. There are three rooms available on the second floor and two on the third. Okay, here we go. (Let me first say, we have every intention of staying here again.) We arrived early. When we were shown our room, Room 1 and 3 were being cleaned and unoccupied. I was delighted at the idea of having the Haus to ourselves. Within an hour, both rooms were filled, as well as the third floor. As sound travels, I quickly realized there were some flaws in privacy. For instance, there is a second door in the bathroom that is right by the toilet. If opened, it would be into the space at the top of the stairs on the second floor shared by the three rooms. There is a gap at the base of the door that you could pass a stack of two magazines under. On the opposite side of the toilet is the window that is used to gain access to the private balcony. Only a sheer black curtain provides coverage from the two houses across the street. After dark, I turned the bathroom lights off and used the romantic amount of light that comes in through that door I was speaking of earlier. The actual bathroom door in no way secures to the door frame. That said, it stayed closed anytime one of us was depending on privacy. Let's talk sound. Around 2AM, Room 1 or 3 decided it was time to listen to some soothing sounds of Trip-House at volume 11. Okay. This did not wake me, but it woke the husband. However, around 3AM, what sounded like a man and woman began screaming violently at one another. This did wake me with deep concern. Ten minutes later - all quiet. We found out after breakfast, the music was coming from Room 1. Lastly, security. There is a tiny knob on Room 2 that acts as a dead bolt. Lock it! At least twice during the night someone vigorously checked our room doorknob as if they were confused about which room was theirs. Monday morning, breakfast was delicious. While there were no mimosas (which are available on Saturday and Sunday,) the quiche was fantastic and the bacon crisp! Coffee, water, juice, and milk were also available. Schaefer Haus should definitely be on your list for a stay on The Strand!

Additionally, the rooms were very kept together and clean. I would recommend the Schaefer Haus to anyone looking for a historic home away from home on the island.

Home2 Suites by Hilton Galveston was honestly much nicer than I expected and ended up being a…read morereally solid stay. There were four of us, and the room felt surprisingly spacious with the pullout couch, balcony, and overall layout. We were directly across from the ocean, which made the stay even better. The location was excellent, the room was quiet, and parking was easy with plenty of available spaces. The staff was very friendly and let us check in early, which I greatly appreciated. The hotel has a fairly late at 4 p.m. The included breakfast was a nice bonus, and overall the hotel felt clean, comfortable, and well maintained. For around $160 for the night, I thought it was a good value for being right by the water. That said, I genuinely do not understand the $10 per night parking charge. They have you place a slip on your dashboard showing your length of stay, but we were sitting on our balcony overlooking the pool and parking lot until 3 a.m., and not once did we see security driving through, checking cars, or monitoring the lot. I'm honestly not sure why there is a parking fee. It seems parking should be included for hotel guests. Another thing we noticed is how dramatically prices jumped to extend our stay for Friday night. School's not out and the weather was quite chilly for late April, but the rate increase was ridiculous at nearly a $300 jump. While we could have stayed one more night, it would have been more than a room at Hotel Galvez, so we decided not to extend. All in all, the hotel stay was decent. I usually stay with friends or family when I'm on the island, so this was actually my first hotel stay in Galveston in a very long time, and I would absolutely stay here again.

1 * - Safety Nightmare & Unacceptable Service Where do I…read moreeven begin. As Hilton Diamond members, we expected a baseline level of safety and professionalism. We received neither. We hadn't even made it through both sets of lobby doors before an aggressive pit bull on a leash came lunging at our dog. The lobby was packed and chaotic, so we made the reasonable decision to leave and return when things settled down. After reflection, we decided it was safer to simply switch hotels altogether and avoid another encounter with that dog. When we called Hilton directly to request a reservation transfer to another property for our pets' safety, we were denied. So we returned to the hotel to speak with the front desk. The agent we encountered was one of the rudest hotel employees I have ever experienced in years of travel. She told us she couldn't cancel the reservation, that a manager wouldn't be available until the next day, and that because she hadn't witnessed the incident and , there was nothing she could do. When I asked her to review the security camera footage, she stonewalled us. After significant back and forth, she finally admitted she could cancel but was worried about getting in trouble. I offered to take full responsibility. She processed the cancellation begrudgingly, with zero grace. And then I truly cannot make this up the moment we walked out the front door, a small dog came flying at us out of the dark leash in tow and bit our dog. My fiancé had to grab that dogs leash and pull the dog away until the owner retrieved it. Two dog attacks in one visit. One deeply unpleasant staff interaction. Zero accountability from Hilton. We will not be returning. Pet-friendly does not mean unsafe-for-pets.
