This place is my ALL TIME favorite location for Mexican food. Casa Delicias has been a staple in my life for 30+ years and I know they've been there longer than that, in the same beloved location under the overpass. When I was a teenager we used to walk from our houses on the mesa (!), cross over the tracks and stuff ourselves with tostadas and enchiladas and tamales. I had my first ever Horchata there. At that time I hadn't realized what amazing and authentic food this was. After growing up and moving as far away from the high desert as could be, and having eaten Mexican cuisine all over Los Angeles, the Southwestern states and in Mexico itself, I can honestly say that Casa Delicias is truly a bona-fide and exceptional location for Mexican food. Especially in the desert. If you've read my other reviews on Mexican food restaurants, you know I judge them by their salsa and the basic bean tostada first and foremost. Salsa here is killer! Fresh jalapeños, onions and cilantro that I think they make consistently throughout the day. The tostada is f-ing grand. Beans are fresh and topped with the PERFECT ratio of freshly shredded lettuce, bunches of finely grated yellow cheese and tomatoes (you have to ask for the tomatoes) ;' ). The thing is seriously loaded. I douse it with fresh salsa and hot sauce, grab a pile of napkins and sit there eating this thing with the mess running down my face and all over my hands. I don't care. It is heaven. The tostada doesn't break up because the shell, although crisp and light, can handle it's toppings. They make their own pork rinds and everyone comes in for fresh masa and bags of homemade tamales. The tamales by the way, are the best I've had, except for the ones from a hole in the wall in Pacoima which are equally as good. Not better though. Ah nostalgia. I don't get up that way much anymore, mostly only to go to the cemetery, but when I do go you better believe I get my fix of tostadas and tamales at Casa Delicias. Epic. read more

I am currently pregnant & was craving Tamales so was really excited to try this place after seeing great reviews, but was sadly let down . The tamales are a bit on the pricey side but since we are new to the High Desert we thought we'd give it a try specially since it's seems not too many people sell them like we are use to seeing where we are originally from. I am a picky eater so I thought it was just me BUT my husband who isn't a picky eater AT ALL wasn't a fan either, he usually will eat my left overs but didn't want to eat them this time lol We got a 1/2 dozen + 2 Sweet tamales on the side & a Large Horchata for $35.84. Literally, the Secret Hole-In-the-Wall that Legends are made of. Yep; it's that good and that unusual. Almost under a bridge, but truly between roads and across from the train tracks stand this innocuous building. The wrought iron gating is not as welcoming as it once must have been, and the seating is reminiscent of a 1970s Naugles. However, the minute you walk inside, the owner ( no matter how busy) greets each customer and you somehow know you have found the Holy Grail of Mexican food in So Cal. You are home. Start with a Family Pack (I suggest the beautifully crispy/fatty carnitas: uuuummm) if it's your first time, but add on some cinnamon-sugar chips, too. Maybe 2 bags. Okay this was my second time in, the food is deliciouso, the service is quite quick and they have been providing my family members with their favorite tamale masa for decades now. On the day I went in (my second visit) with about 20 family members for breakfast, the service was outstanding. We received our orders in a timely fashion and the staff did not seem at all phased by our huge crowd and the steady stream of people coming in behind us. That's a lot to love about a place, right?! As far as the atmosphere here, it's a nice hole in the wall kinda place people. Come here as you please and ready for good food! On this trip in I ordered what I affectionately call the David Adam Special. It was my late brother's favorite here. It's a Chile Verde Wet Burrito, let me tell you, it's like excellent food for days. My huge burrito was filled with delicious shredded tender pork, the tortilla used for containment ;) was yummy, the seasoning was spot on and the delicious green 'wet sauce' ratio was just right too. Taco tuesday here is crazy! They have an entire menu of about 20 items all for $1 each! Our inner pig came out and we ordered pretty much one of everything on that menu. It came out fast though they had a line out the door. Luckily most of the orders were togo, so we got a table to ourselves, though they have less than 10. Service was very nice, the food was good not great though. There are alot of places in town where they bother with a fresh salsa bar and you get more meat and flavor for your money. For a very cheap and authentic lunch, I would recoomend coming here on a tuesday, if not you will get better for $2-3 an item which gets you more meat and flavor. read more

People of the high desert love to come here! It is like a local hidden treasure that people love and they will have large orders ready for you if you call ahead. I am a very picky eater when it comes to my Mexican food and I like this place. When people kept bugging me to come here I was annoyed because the outside isn't much to look at. The location isn't very easy to get in and out of either. I was glad that everyone kept bugging me because I was very surprised. They service was fast and the food good. You can have them do food for parties if you need and it is a great deal. Their food is good and well liked so people will like it. Plus you won't have to cook. It's a win win situation lol They have early hours and a few times I have driven over here and they have been closed. read more

Ah, Casa Delicias. How many tamales and carne asada burritos I've consumed from you. When I venture home to visit the 'rents, you're the old pal I can rely upon for a tasty meal on the cheap. Casa Delicias is located on the far, far end of Hesperia - off where the train tracks are, where Main Street ends. The restaurant itself is family owned and is rather small, but don't let it fool you. They pretty much have a tamale factory going on behind the counter. Casa Delicias has a full menu of typical Mexican eatery, but what makes them special is their tamales. You can buy everything you need to make homemade tamales, or you can take the easy way out a but 'em buy the dozen ($17.50). They offer pork, chicken beef, cheese, chile...you name it, they will cover it with masa. I usually get a trove of tamales to go and get something equally delicious to eat while I am there. During my last visit, my mom got fish tacos and i got a carnitas burrito. My buritto was PACKED with tender and juicy meat. The proportion of meat to rice and beans is perfect. My moms fish tacos were large and stacked with avocado and talapia. Though my buritto was delish, the tacos made me envious (seriously, check out the photo). I know what I'm getting next time! The only disappointing thing about Casa Delicias is that they are not in LA. But then again, it is its High Desert charm that keeps me coming back. read more

This family owned Mexican restaurant is as authentic as you can get. It offers so many great Mexican dishes all homemade including the tortillas and the chips and salsa. All dishes are homemade, fresh and made to order but here is what separates Casa Delicias from most other Mexican Restaurants: 1-They make their own masa for their tamales or if you want to buy the masa to make your own. I know many people who travel from all over the high desert during the holidays just to get the masa. They have an assembly line of workers during the holidays making 1000's of tamales ( many different types & all AWESOME!) 2- They make their own homemade tortillas. The only reason they get one star is because there isn't a way to give it a zero. Their customer service is terrible. They gave me the wrong order however by the time I called them to see if I can bring it back and get my correct order they were closed. So I called them today and all they could say was to bring in the wrong order give me my money back for that one then they would make my order and recharge me for that one. I'm sorry but that's just bad business. You messed up on an order and expect the customer to still pay for your mistake. Not to mention the food looked horribly thrown together. Since I've moved from LB to Hd I've been looking for a spot that has tasty affordable food specially menudo , and I found it . The menudo is delicious and not spicy at all. There are two little mexican places in the High Desert that are worth writing reviews about - Casa D's and Lolas (see my other review). Both are equally as good as the other. Both are tiny, little, hole-in-the-wall places that you might normally drive by and stick your nose in the air! But STOP. Casa D's is a must if you love really good, cheap Mexican food. First the place is next to an auto repair place and has bars on the windows. Unless someone told you about eating here, you would probably keep driving. I recommend visiting on $1 Tuesday where tons of menu items are just a buck. Get there before lunch as the high schoolers love $1 Tuesday! Here are some of my fave items - Potato Cheese Burrito, Chicken taquitos, carnitas tacos, breakfast burritos, tortas, and the tortillas con mantequilla (tortillas with butter baby!)...yum. They make their own tortillas - both corn and flour and they are both delish! Sometimes I will buy 20 bean and cheese burritos on $1 Tuesday and freeze them for later. Best hole-in-the-wall in the high desert. it looks quite run-down, with iron bars on the doors and windows, and it does not particularly look clean, but all that adds to its gritty, East LA-esque charm. Casa Delicias... it's not just a meal, it's an adventure! Seriously, almost all the food is excellent, very authentic, and the prices are VERY low. They make their own tortillas from scratch, and their salsas are the best in the desert. Try the tacos de papas (potato tacos) and the veggie bowl if you're vegetarian or trying to eat healthier (and just eat half of it, it's pretty big!). They have a limited $1 menu on $1 Tuesdays, so if you haven't been to Casa Delicias, that would be a great time to get acquainted with it. Truly one of the high desert gems! read more

The fabulous reviews on Yelp brought us to Casa Delicias and it was delicious! Even my boys totally enjoyed it, which is a major victory! Our 6 year old declared his taco the best one EVER! Our 4 year old ate both of his taquitos in silence which was a monumental occasion. My potato burrito was really good, but kind of dry as with all potato tacos and burritos. To me, this is where good salsa comes in to moisten it and liven it up a bit, and their salsa fit the bill perfectly. My husband ordered a wet pork green chile burrito and said the meat was delicious and tender and he loved the sauce over the top. We ended our delicious lunch with caramel churros, as if we had any space, and they were sooo good! My only trivial complaint is that I didn't much like their chips. I prefer the thinner tortilla chips and their were the thicker kind. The employees were really friendly and made us feel welcome. And, we loved watching the trains go by across the street as we sat and ate our lunch. Great meal! read more

DOLLAR TUESDAY!!! A friend picked up food for us and it was great! Tons of choices and I spent $3 for a cheese enchilada, a hard chicken taco and a carnitas soft taco. I never got to taste the soft taco since the first two filled me up. They were yummy!!!! My friend called ahead and picked up the order.
